I do wish there were more opportunities for active play in Disneyland. A park full of rides is a park full of lines and that's kind of awful. More walk-throughs would be great. More spots for little kids who aren't big enough for the rides would be great. Very interesting video, thanks Jim!

I’m exploring creating videos in 2025 focusing on how to best use the parks, especially Disneyland and DCA. Families and singles might find it useful to know where to find a uncrowded food location, or a quiet place to chill, or a hack where best to park. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year.

Thanks for the video! I have a 3 and 6 year old and we always spend at least an hour of our day at one of the playgrounds in Disneyland. My kids love Goofy's learn to play yard because of the bright colors and fun slides. I love Redwood Creek better because it's a calm place for me to relax while the kids play, you really can't beat the ambiance there. Both are really great in their own way and the perfect way to break up the day and get out our wiggles before getting in another ride line.

I'm a big fan of the quiet places in the Disney Parks. A bit of shade with wi fi or a good signal is great. Thanks for watching.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. It's truly amazing to fit the pieces together with what I've seen or heard with what you add in

One of my major goals on my KZbin channel is one provide context and connect the various parts of Disney Parks for history. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year.

I wish there were more hedge mazes in the United States. Corn mazes do well, but are seasonal. It is always great to take a mid day break at Tom Sawyer Island, Redwood Creek or CenToonial Park. As a kid another I remember is the playground at Sea Word San Diego with the roaps course.

Hedge mazes in Disney Parks deserve an episode to tell their story. There was a mini hedge maze in Mickey’s Birthday Land (mini because it was short so parents could see their little ones), and one in Shanghai Disneyland which looks like a maze but isn’t designed as one to get lost. Happy New Year.

I really want to play baseball at Disneyland now.

I’ll be in the baseball stadium eating a hot dog and watch you play. Happy New Year.

I'm surprised they haven't put in a playground at Rafiki's Planet Watch - right next to the Affection Section. They could make it dinosaur themed and relocate all of the statues from DinoLand. They need to repurpose them somewhere - especially Sue.

I’ve heard there will be a more passive much smaller exploration play area in Topical America. The problem with building a playground by Planet Watch is that the only way to reach it is riding the train. If an expansion of Asia (such as adding India) were built then a short walkway could connect Planet Watch to the rest of Animal Kingdom. Zootopia would be a natural fit however the choice to replace the Tree of Life film based show with a Zootopia one takes that intellectual property off the table. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year.

As someone who truly enjoyed the HISTK Playground for the respite it gave my parents & allowed me to play with my younger sister, I never got to experience much others as when it came to Mickey’s Starland/Birthdayland - we loved the Disney Afternoon Show, Mickey/Minnie Homes, and Minnie Moo. I wish there were such places for kids now but most are gone now at WDW. Never got to experience The Boneyard as I was much too old when we got to see it

The Disney Legal Department and public taste is responsible for the removal of the active playgrounds that were built starting in the late 1990s. The less active more passive play areas (such as Tom Sawyer Island) continue to entertain and should for another generation. Happy New Year.

@ we never missed a trip to Tom Sawyer Island at WDW growing up either! My parents enjoyed the respite, shade, and seclusion - while my sister and I enjoyed the freedom, imagination, and immersion of all of the Island’s elements. I don’t have children, but my niece & nephew got to explore it once (our last trip in 2019) thankfully.

Very interesting! Was the Mother Goose "fun-thru" itself going to be a playground, or was there to be a playground beyond Mother Goose? I didn't know a playground had been planned that early.

So what is the excuse for pulling rivers of America in the magic Kingdom??? Everyone thinks that is a terrible idea for Disney to go through with but they're going to do it..

last I heard their permit application to demo the area was denied due to environmental reasons, hopefully they never get approved but it’s disney so i’m sure they’ll find a way around it :(

Jim, any idea what year the map is from that shows the old Disneyland Par 3 golf course? I haven't found much about the course anywhere in my research.
@jimhshull17 күн бұрын
The fun map dates to the early 1960s. The mini golf course inspired the two courses at Walt Disney World. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year.

Things always change… Jim as fundamental as it sounds, Disney fandom resists changes. Folks from the South remain resistant to ousting of Slash Mountain and ushering out song of the south. The list goes on and on. My point is change and people are oil and water.
@jimhshull17 күн бұрын
You make good points about people who have visited the Disney Parks for decades. Their connection is solid and it’s understandable that they resist change. When I started working on a design for any park the question I asked myself was if I was improving or hurting the park? That was my standard. Happy New Year.
