Into the grain, from the rough, greenside is my cryptonite! You have to take such a big swing and I’m always worried about catching it clean that I decelerate. My mind tells my body, “Woah buddy! That swing is way too long for this distance, slow down buddy!” as I dump the ball a yard in front of me. Made me feel better seeing a major winner dump a couple on video to demonstrate how tough it really is! Thx Paddy

This is pure gold. I always struggle to understand the lie in the rough and predict when the ball will come out dead or as a flier. Just yesterday I had a ball with the lateral grain which came out straight right and out of bounds: I thought I almost shanked it, but now I understood why it happened. Thanks captain, excellent video nobody explained me before.

This is such a good video. It's amazing that there are so many videos about hitting out of the rough and they all focus on one technique without clarifying what works where. This is illuminating.

Hey Padraig! Your videos are the absolute simplest and most effective golf videos I have ever watched. They are perfectly balanced with knowledge and tips. I am extatic to have found these videos. I have already watched about 10 of them and I'll have to go back and watch them again when I go practice. I've watched the other bunker videos, but fairway bunkers and 40-120 yard bunker shots would be an awesome topic to see you disect. I will be sharing these videos with any and everyone who will listen!

Great video! One thing he didn’t mention that is super important: out of the rough, the ball will launch much higher than a normal wedge shot trajectory, closer to the dynamic loft of the club, as there is little friction between face and ball. This is another reason you need to hit it harder than you might think.

Paddy, great stuff here! What about the times for us amateur golfers where there’s thick rough green side, matted down because of the golf carts? The grass direction will be perpendicular to the hole.
