"But my favorite line by far was: 'Faith, thats another word for ignorance, isnt it?'" I actually didn't like that line. Ignorance is an absence of knowledge/information. One can be filled to the brim with knowledge and information and still have faith--often enabled by a knack for cognitive dissonance. MY favorite line was, "Trust has to be earned. You can't trust someone hiding in a closet." And when the boy shows his impressive perception by retorting, "You don't trust anyone," he also totally sidesteps House's on-the-nose takedown of a fundamental underpinning of faith.

Faith is not ignorance. It's trusting in what you don't understand and know but with limited information you know it's true. You trust. Just like you trust the bus driver to get you to your destination without an accident occurring. Faith is trusting in God.
@YouTubeallowedmynametobestolen
@YouTubeallowedmynametobestolen 2 жыл бұрын
@@musicallytalented16 "Faith is not ignorance.” True. Neither is it the opposite of ignorance. There can be one, the other, or both. "It's trusting in what you don't understand and know but with limited information you know it's true." You are misusing (and devaluing) the word "know." If you have faith in something, you may FEEL it's true. But you don't KNOW it's true. Big--and important--difference. If we use the word "know" the way you are suggesting, then Christians know their beliefs are true, and Muslims know their beliefs are true, and Hindus, and all the other religions--including hundreds you've never even heard of--all "know" that their beliefs are true. What is that kind of "knowledge" worth? "You trust. Just like you trust the bus driver to get you to your destination without an accident occurring." No, not just like that. That is a very different kind of trust. Same word, but used with two very different meanings. "Faith is trusting in God." This seems like a reasonable statement.

@@annataymond9529 I think the dilemma here is that his ‘religious duty’ means that he believes his son is hearing the word of God, so when his son says “Don’t let them treat me, this is God’s will” there lies the conflict between his duty as a parent and his (percieved) religious obligation to obey the ‘word of God’. Also, I’d like to clarify that this by no means reflects real-world religious parent dilemmas, just what is in the show.

These episodes convince me that most of a people don't get idea of religion. In one hand we have fanatics and lunatics, on the other we have compulsive deniers or cynical offenders. And House is absolutely right saying that if "God is speaking to you"... Everybody tries to fit the idea of higher force with their limited understanding of the universe, well because we are humans. Christ is depicted as "healer of souls", that doesn't imply that faith should block standard and science based treatment. That's another problem that many people are convinced that religion and science stand in opposition. Well, they depict the same reality, just different aspects of them, therefore there aren't any contradictions. Even more, from point of view of Christianity, you it's your moral responsibility to go see doctors and try every possible treatment to preserve your life as long as possible

"Compulsive deniers?" If you refuse to believe in something that has not been demonstrated to even exist, then that is completely justified. And if you refuse to believe that someone's supposed religious experience was in something supernatural, that is justified as well. The human brain is complex and fallible, so even if someone truly believes they experienced some kind of divine being or a miracle, they could be totally wrong. That's hardly "compulsive denial." You can't even argue that is denial at all, since rejecting a claim is not the same as denying it. If you tell me you are a Trillionaire, and I don't believe you, I'm not denying that you are a Trillionaire.

This kid has a "God" fixation! I definitely believe in God, but this young little "Faith Healer" is waaaaay overboard with saying that God told him this or that. God has people called Physicians in place to heal and/or treat the sick. He expects us to use something called COMMON SENSE!

@@dianeyoung3752 God didn't give us doctors. Doctors learned themselves (or were taught by others). God loves to take credit for everything though. Would've been kicked out of most colleges.

Bruh there's no way this is how people think God helps them. You don't close your eyes behind the wheel and say God is going to protect you, he literally gave you eyes to use why would you willingly take it away and say he has to help you more? What we ask when we pray is for his love and guidance and help for leading us in the right path, we ask for the energy and motivation and discipline to face our problems. Then you go out to world knowing God has his bests interests for you. You do not drown yourself in the ocean when the coast guard is trying to help you and say that God will help you, like bruh its your duty to save yourself when you can. Just ask God for guidance and motivation to get through it, and if it's your time to die then so be it, but don't take it without trying to live first

I disagree with the kids statement of loving someone and thus having to trust them. You can absolutely love someone without trusting them or at least setting very strong boundaries.
