@@yama9488 Probably not something for broke people, also PS3 / X360 versions have been discontinued so you'd need at least a ~$90 used XBox One / PS4 which some people can't afford. Everyone and their grandma (literally) already have a Wii. Other than that it's a tad useless, when full Bedrock Minecraft is available for modern phones.

I think that's because the wii was just too outdated when minecraft became popular enough. This is a replica of beta 1.7 which is still very basic, newer versions would struggle pretty badly. The Wii is comparable to a 3DS with less RAM.

​@@baylordiamond5611they ported it to the _new_ 3ds, which is immensely more powerful. Even that almost totally stripped version of the game struggles if you have a modded new 3ds and set the CPU to old 3ds speeds

Nice! Yeah, I think the ideal situation for Minecraft is the Nunchuck control stick would control the character movement and the Wiimote pointing would be for moving the camera around! Like, how you aim with the bow in Twilight Princess and other motion activated games!

@@dizzydaisy909no, it’s written from scratch using C and the Wii graphics API (GX). The developers are just aiming for a recreation of the 1.7.3 beta. It’s extremely impressive how faithful it looks to the real thing. Real Minecraft is written in Java, and bedrock edition in C++.

60fps and potentially bouncing off the limiter all the time is impressive asf considering the power of the wii. true, a lot of it has been cut down, most likely a lot of background stuff as well as the obvious foreground stuff (no interactable UI, pick block, etc.), but that is still double the target of the 360 and ps3, even with their full version games. I wonder if it could be possible to make it any more playable, though perhaps its purposefully limited to avoid copyright

I’m amazed this can run with literally 88MBs of ram, and only 512MB storage, or 4096 blocks! Truly amazed and happy people are still making fun things for the Wii. Next will be Java or bedrock edition on the Wii U. That would be a game changer!

they should make it so that you can use the classic controller attachment as a more normal control method, and hopefully more work will be done to include survival mode, i look forward to this stuff. a neat touch would be if you could shake the wii remote to hit mobs.

CavEX is a reimplementation of Minecraft Beta 1.7.3, which is a Java Edition version during 2011 so yeah. Edit: It's 2011, not 2010.

I honestly am impressed by this project, 60 fps on a console with total 88mb of memory(24mb ram and 64mb graphics memory) is truly cool!

Even less: the Hollywood GPU in the Wii barely has 3 MB of vram. The 88 MB or remaining RAM is 64 for main memory and 24 MB of some strange ram used as system cache. IIRC there is a port of alpha Minecraft ported to the PS1 (Fromage) and the PS1 has barely 2 MB of total ram.

Something I’d like to point out is that the game runs at Fancy settings not Fast. Like the leaves have transparency and the lighting is smooth and not blocky. Which is wild on what is basically a overclocked GameCube

I reckon MC worlds have been pretty bland since Beta 1.8 Beta 1.8 removed all the amazing cliffs and mountains that used to be generated in prior versions. Alpha and beta 1.7.3 world generation was more unique and had more soul. After beta 1.7.3 every generated world felt identical to the last. I'd assume the new biomes have made it better though.
