The editing in this is fantastic haha. This was a great video. This is the kind of mad science I love, hooking up random things to do cool things with them. I appreciate you leaving a link to the capture card. I've been meaning to pick one up but wasn't sure which one. I've been meaning to record some new stuff, and you've given me some inspiration. I'm subscribing to see more of what you have.

That's so freaking nice, thank you! I normally don't do these types of videos but I did really want to try... I am glad you found it interesting and enjoyable. Hope to catch your content some day!

Hey everyone! Hope you enjoy this - it’s not meant to be taken too seriously, I just wanted to see if the HDMI-in feature on the Quest 3 would work with a video upscaler and some old consoles. Apologies if I’m not the best speaker, this was kind of off the cuff. Anyway, I hope you have a laugh with me and enjoy this little slice of new-age retro silliness!

This was fun and great. I loved the ending. I left another comment with some other thoughts, but I am definitely going to be using this capture card and a Quest 3 with the video-out on my Odin 2 and kick back. Looking at your channel, really liking what I am seeing. I haven't had anything inspire me in a while, but I feel it with what I am seeing. I'm looking forward to more.

One thing I’ve always wanted to test would be hooking up a Famicom 3D System/ Master System 3-D game into the Retrotink, using the scaler to convert the 60Hz active shutter 3D video to 30FPS passive 3D (which is what the game runs at internally anyway), and then hooking that up to a VR headset to experience those ancient stereoscopic games without flicker or requiring a CRT. I’d also love to test something similar if the Mister FPGA had a Virtual Boy core and could output passive stereoscopic video through its HDMI.

That should work! I watch plenty of 3d content in the headset :) let me know if you ever test it out.

3D is incredible in the headset. You should test this out for sure.

I think you could also hook up one of those RCA to USB adaptors to the Quest as well. I also have an HDMI one too but I think most of those capture cards are just a USB Webcam interface with a video input wired to it instead of a camera. That might also mean you can use an actual webcam with the Quest HDMI app in place of the HDMI adapter.

A good latency test would be trying to beat Tyson in Punch-Out!!.
@retroshowcase18 сағат бұрын
Good call! Haha not sure if I can do it even with 0ms latency lol how about you?
@videogameobsession12 сағат бұрын
Haha.. Well, last time I tried I was able to beat Mike, but that was about 10 years ago. I'm a bit out of practice, and old. Not a great combo. :P I'd like to give it a try again someday though. I love classic games in VR BTW. I have a PSVR2 + PC adapter, and I'm working on building a decent PC to handle higher end VR. Looking forward to messing around with retro game VR stuff.

Thanks mate. Time to crank up my good old n64 again, lol! It would be nice if we could get wireless hdmi adapters. Thanks again and best cheers from Australia.

That would be awesome! I think they do exist but are quite expensive.

Wow! I had no idea that you could plug HDMI directly into the Quest with an adapter like that. Does this work with the Quest 2? I don't own a Quest 3.
@retroshowcaseКүн бұрын
Pretty cool eh? I checked the Meta website and says it should also support the Quest 2 and Quest Pro. It should look great!
@shock44SquirrelyShockКүн бұрын
@retroshowcase Awesome! Thank you for letting me know. I've been thinking about upgrading to the Quest 3 but I'll have to save up some cash for it. I have heard really good things about the pancake lenses. This is going to be great though for better latency, we won't have to use an HDMI capture device plugged into a PC.
