I can't even fully express how much Warren Haynes has meant to me in my life. This song has uplifted me so many times. I was very lucky to see it performed live on many occasions with the full force of the Allman Brothers Band. This version gave me goosebumps and brought a tear to my eye. My Father passed away on January 29, 2024. A few days before his death, my band rehearsed this song and I couldn't finish singing the second verse. Somehow I felt that my Father's time was running out, I mean REALLY RUNNING OUT, and I burst into tears.That song, at that exact moment, felt like a 45 bullet in my chest. But I didn't feel any pain, as she was there to comfort me and not make the situation worse. Music is my companion, whether in the happiest moments or in deep pain.

As someone who's dealt with clinical chronic depression, this song has pulled me out of the darkest holes been in. It's part of my treatment and maintenance plan. I'm finding this Playing For Change version right now, when I really needed it. An instant emotional lift. Thank you for putting this beautiful collaboration out into the world. Aw wow I remember being on a plane from Dallas to Atlanta in 1989. This guy was sitting behind me . I had no clue who he was but by his conversation with others around him I thought he was a local rocker . People keep coming to him saying congratulations brother I heard you were on here. Man. When I saw Susan and Derek on When the Levee Breaks...I sincerely wished they could have been in the same room as JPJ, grooving his groove with him. And boy, was he GROOVING.
