I met Grandpa Elliott Small on the streets of New Orleans late at night in 2019. I had no idea who he was then, but I want to be like him when I grow up. He was kind, humble, cheerful, and a wonderful person.

Me too, and I was very sad to see Roger and Grandpa were both gone. I love these compilations. I don't know why Alice Tan Ridley is identified in the video, but she is Roger's sister and still with us today. She is amazing too, and such a powerful voice.

I am a lover of Sam Cooke and was just listening to him singing this and admiring his beauty at the same time. I didn't think anyone could do better. This version not only gave me chills but tears to my eyes. Thank you! From my late mother too who spent her life buried in Blues/Jazz clubs in her youth and one of the last things she did was kiss a photo of Sam Cooke and said "I LOVE THAT MAN!" I wish she was alive to hear this version. Exactly how it should be done. EXACTLY!

Remember seeing Rodger and playing for change on my local PBS station ten years ago at least. My life has never been the same. I now Can play the gutiar and this gift is directly an aftermath of this wonderful program. I was 39 when I started practicing on the instrument. I'm now 54 and though I'm no troubadour, I play for me and my God who has made this a gift to play cords and to let my self decompress to the beautiful sound of the gutiar. Oh, it WAS difficult learning to play but, my soul thanks me every time I strum the Damn thing.
