"How many counterspells do you want?" CEDH: Yes
@charlesmaillho367 Жыл бұрын
This game perfectly highlights why removal is so important. Counterspells are great but not having that removal for drannith, counterbalance, rhystic, mystic, etc. just makes playing the game and winning that much more difficult.
@lorenzkarbach1352 Жыл бұрын
Looking at that board, your removal probably wouldn't resolve though. Something like abrupt decay would do wonders, but people haven't run this in ages.
@RagingPoo Жыл бұрын

@@MageSkeleton you can’t just swap phases without passing priority. When you go to pass the turn what you are actually doing is suggesting a shortcut where each player passes priority through your turn. Each player receives priority BEFORE the phase changes.

3 islands in play and "fails to find a land" - best moment of game xD
@paulmcclain642 Жыл бұрын
This is one of the best, most interactive games I’ve ever seen. I do, however, have 1 criticism. Everyone knew at the beginning of the game that Snuske was on a mull to 4, and yet they fed the shit out of Snuske’s fish. I feel like this is a situation where the other 3 players should agree not to feed, taking Snuske effectively out of the game. The incidental benefit is that they also would have avoided feeding Memo’s fish as well. Maybe it wouldn’t have mattered in the end with all the wheels, but Snuske stopped a ton of win attempts and Memo eventually had the pieces to grind it out and win.
@RagingPoo Жыл бұрын
None of these decks can afford to do that for very long. After a few turns they would be forced to discard and Snuske would have the same number of cards in hand by then anyway.

Before watching the game, I want to say that I think Hoarding Broodlord has a good shot in cedh as a new reanimation target (other than raz and vilis). It gets saw in Half, which then you just need 2 more mana or creatures to saw Broodlord, get 2 more cards. From there it is trivial to set up a win
@MehrGills Жыл бұрын
@@MageSkeleton yep. Just commenting cause I think it's a cool card for the reanimator style decks (like rog tevesh, and even occasionally rog si, although raz is the normal big baddie right now)
@msolace580 Жыл бұрын
why not just use either of the draw/card demons, like runescared.. hoardling has to discount the spells to be of more value, but adding in saw in half is the same mana as the spells you would find. its questionable right now if hoarding makes it. not being a legendary might help though. Vilis/raz are hard to compare too!

Can someone explain why everyone fought so hard over veil? Was it the threat of dark ritual into an ad naus? It felt like the red blast would be better pointed at rhystic study?
@DarkEinherjar Жыл бұрын
Maybe people freak out when they read "can't be countered" on a card...
@Outlawbyname Жыл бұрын
If the veil resolved Memo would have had an entirely fresh hand of spells that couldn't be interacted with. Especially with a five color goodstuff deck, you don't want to give them a turn where you can't interact with them
@Spirited_skiing Жыл бұрын
@@Outlawbyname but it wasn’t their turn, right? So they were almost tapped out with just a few mana left and had to do everything at instant speed. It seems weird to me but I don’t play cEDH that much so maybe my threat assessment of the rhystic study being way more dangerous is off. Like I get they might draw a ritual/ad naus, but that seems less likely than the rhystic player running away with the game
@Outlawbyname Жыл бұрын
@Spirited Skiing it wasn't so much that they thought he could do something, it was the threat that he could do something and they wouldn't be able to stop him. At the very least, since Veil is an "Until end of turn" effect, the active player would have been pressured into ending their turn early to avoid uncounterable interaction. Something to remember about cEDH is that it's a game of inches, not miles. This game is a perfect example of that. Even the smallest advantage can put one person ahead of the rest of the table, snowballing them into a win.
@Spirited_skiing Жыл бұрын
@@Outlawbyname The active player wasn’t the one countering it though, right? It was another NAP. I definitely get snowballing advantage is scary, but isn’t rhystic study the definition of a snowballing advantage engine? Or is it less threatening because 2 other players has remoras?

Why did Memo have a Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh? For the Warrior triggers and Mox Amber?
@089Memo90 Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, thats the general idea. If we cast Roger and Naj on t1 we also get double triggers on t2. It is also cool for Amber and Culling the Weak. That said, I was playtesting it, currently its not in the list, because I noticed that its just to one dimensional for the turbo pivot queen ( as showcased in the video!)

This is nice to watch because all the waiting is cut out, but games like these play miserably over Spelltable, especially when people have so many hand cards and options available and all the draw triggers when spells are cast. Like people take forever in their turns and since everyone has priority technically at every point when the stack resolves, it can get grindy. I wonder how long this game took in RL time. Also cards like mnenomic betrayal just do not work in Spelltable and they become a chore to play. This is fixable by playing in RL with people that know the format, but games from the Discord via Spelltable with random people playing those kinda decks, never again.
