yeah I saw this and cried. His lone op also really dulls any incoming shooting. If you place him behind the knights as well, he essentially cant be shot unless you move into easy charge range of the knights. Lion behind termies and knights is the way to go for sure. It really feels bad to watch someone misplay an army you're passionate about :(

That and the fact he didnt put him into Magnus, The Lion into magnus as well as keeping those intercessors on the objective would've won him the game and most likely killed Magnus. The only thing that could kill him was The Lion, hugely misplayed here but we all make mistakes.

When he said "I'm lacking anti-tank" at the beginning I was confused, your lynchpin unit is essentially kitted (almost) perfectly to wipe any given monster (including magnus) off the board for a big points trade. Instead he was kinda just used as an anti-DevWound model for the first half

@@smalls6914 Exactly. He had the Deathwing Knights with anti monster/vehicle 4+, as well as The Lion. The Lion can kills Magnus with his fights first and lone op, you don’t need to keep him way back, he should be the anchor of your forces. The knights can most likely kill any monster or vehicle that the Thousand sons had on the board accept Magnus, so he should’ve used them more to effect.

The Lion does an average of 5 Wounds to Magnus who has 16 wounds (command re-rolls affect this A LOT on both sides) Let's asume Magnus is the Oath target and Magnus has used his -1 damage ability: * Lion hits on 2+ with 8 attacks (Lethal hits) * Lion rolls 1.333 Lethals, 1.333 Misses and 5.3333 regular hits * Lion re-rolls his 1.333 Misses and gets 0.888 Hits and 0.148 Lethals * Lion scores 1.481 Lethals and 6,221 hits * Lion is S12 vs Magnus T11 and wounds on 3+ * Lion rolls 4,147 wounds + the 1,481 Lethals meaning it is a total of 5,628 successful wounds * Magnus has a 4++ and passes 2.814 saves meaning 2.814 wounds go through * Magnus takes a total of 8,442 wounds, he can negate one of the failed saves for a CP and only take 5,442 damage Even if Magnus does not have his -1 damage ability active he still only take 11,256 damage, very far from your "perfect" way to wipe him out Let's do Magnus hitting back for fun Let's asume that the Lion has his 4+++ vs mortals and that Magnus has not Sustained Hits on his melee weapon as that is rather rare to be picked by TS players, and so will only have Dev wounds: * Magnus hits on 2+ with 7 attacks (Devestating Wounds) * Magnus rolls 5,83 hits * Magnus is S16 with +1 to wound vs The Lions T9 and wounds on 2+ * Magnus rolls 0,97 Dev wounds and 3,89 successful wound rolls * The Lion has a 3++ and passes 3,24 saves meaning 0,65 wounds go through * The Lion has a 4+ Feel No Pain against the 2,91 Mortal Wounds caused by the Dev Wounds and passes 1,455 saves meaning he suffers 1,455 Mortal Wounds * The Lion takes 3,4 damage in total

watching the lion being held back as well as dice hell was a painful watch but it was a good game none the less. Please keep the dark angles coming, i love 40k in 40 mins. Its the only digestable games of 40k i could watch. The way you guys do them i could watch an in depth 1hr 30 min one too as the editing, narration/explination and quality is so good

The Lion and Magnus never even approach each other for a duel and just focusing on the battlefield and the objective is super lore accurate. The final move being just a single Rhino making a desperate breakout that secure the Sons's objective and the two army withdraw without the Primarchs ever facing each other especially. Like a cool head general they are.

There were definitely some internal mind games between Tak and Mubin. They've played against each other quite a bit and know each others play styles but Mubin is definitely changing things up and being less aggressive and more cagey. Old Mubin would have lost Magnus by turn 2 and there would have been a rampaging Lion in the midst of all those Thousand Sons

The fact Tak didn't bring any ranged anti-tank and went up a against a list with 2 T9s, a T10, and a T11, He left an 80 point hole in his list, and he just left Lion sitting in his deplyoment zone for wayyy too long (he must've realised he had been wasting him when the first time lion fights he wipes a whole squad solo), oh and he failed a ridiculous amount of charges, he only lost by 1 point.

@@DanielMcMillan-nf7rw he's scored worse and done bad desicions. This time he did well. Possibly could've been more aggresive with Manus (imo) and the demon prince and keep the marines in the rhino a little longer but overall he did great.

I used to play far too aggressively before and now I feel I may be a bit TOO cagey at times. Though that does tend to leave me with some assets to still do the things needed late game. I think old Mubin probably would have lost Magnus Turn 2/3 and had a Lion rampaging through the rest of his army a turn later

To be honest, because of the indirect only hitting on 4+ I actually shot a lot of Torrent weapons at them unless the models could see them to hit. Then again a LOT of my weapons are torrent in that list
