For me it was Uncharted. I played the game only near the end of 2014 and it still blew my mind. The colours, the water, the animations... And it only got better as they figured out the system's/generation's limitations.

justanotherwriter Yeah same, I got mines in 2010 and prior to that I was a PS2, Slow Laptop and Wii User. The only graphically advanced game I had played at the time was Halo 2 and that ran like crap on my laptop. Then when I actually got a PS3, we had LBP and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. My brother and I were both blown away with the games. It's a sensation I fondly remember and will probably always will remember. So for all the failures and troubles the hardware was creating or going through, it was and still is a fun little box that still can blow me away despite it's obviously limited texture and memory budget. This is coming from someone who now owns a mid range Gaming PC plus his PS3 and older systems.

The cell BE was much more cut for supercomputer workloads than the tri-core xenon in the 360. Different approach. But it doesn't mean it was an inherently better architecture because it was a pain to develop for and IBM could barely manufacture it at first ( let alone for cheap)

Frisbie147 Oh wow...that's stupid. We should be happy when we get nice graphics, but we shouldn't complain just because the grass doesn't look as realistic as possible. When I saw the trailer for the upcoming Zelda game on the Wii U, I was amazed by the graphics. I saw Star Fox Zero's gameplay recently and while the graphics weren't up to par with the new Zelda or Xenoblade X, you didn't see me complaining. Graphics do matter, but not as much as people make them out to. Gameplay should be the #1 priority.

I'm surprise they didn't get into the REAL reason the first PS3 controllers didn't have rumble. Apparently, Sony and Microsoft stole the technology they used for rumble from a company called Immersion (Nintendo used a different technique for rumble and wasn't involved in it). Because of this, Immersion threatened to sue them both. Microsoft decided to pull a Microsoft and settled it out of court, while Sony was taken to court for several years and eventually ended up paying them a bunch of money and payed a bunch of royalties for including rumble in their controllers afterwards.

This was the result of how unstable the PS3 was. You can't predict what will happen with any of the games on there; especially considering that a lot of developers couldn't figure out how to limit the frames on it.

The base ps4 and Xbox one definitely can run 4k, just as the PS3 version of Okami renders in 4k then downsamples, I'm sure it would be more than possible for the newer hardware to render less graphically demanding games at 4k easily if the work was put in on the developers side. That being said, Sony and Microsoft would probably make it so the developers would have to downsample the games to 1080p, mostly so they could make money on a premium model which has slightly better hardware at a jacked up price.

Bob Jones Oy DYK, at the release of Steam people hated it a lot due to the fact it was a buggy mess and it took forever to load it until one update managed to fix it. Steam became popular because of HL2 Episode series. Valve added refund system because the EU lawyers screamed at them and also had some problems with Australia lawyers and thus Australians have to pay 10% of taxes for buying games on that client. Despite the word "Your game won't become popular unless you put it on Steam" has been actually proven false recently. IT actually depends on how you market your product. Witcher 3 managed to sell 110,000 more on GOG.com than Steam. Big Sales caused Steam server to lag a lot, to counter it, Valve removed servers from their games as a replacement (Now you know why in sales, you can't play MvM or Valve servers in TF2). Gabe Newell stated that if Steam goes kaput he will release a Master Key containing all of your games, he didn't said where you type it though (it is pretty suspicious if you ask me and that would be troublesome for publishers). Steam also puts restrictions on countries for games which for some have no point (See FEAR 2 and Romania).

The PS3 was much bigger so it had no choice but to save it. Sadly it gave up on other things like Vaio and Bravia. But the PS4 is doing amazing.

I know a friend who was online and playing either Far Cry 3 or 4 during the data breach during Christmas. He was playing with a friend over psn. Here's an odd fact I found (to contribute). There was an RPG on the PS3 called Hyperdimension Neptunia. It was published by Idea Factory and was a sort of, "hidden gem," if you will, although it did have a few failures. One of them being the design which caused many owners to take it as, "a game devoted to fan service." It wasn't very recognized until there was a remake released on PC and the PS Vita, where the series is very familiar with PS Vita users.

bluray may be scratch resistant but if they actually get scratched for some reason it affects your games a lot, i had one bluray with 2 scratches and it became unplayable
