I'm in the same mindset as Tim, who previously switched between performance and fidelity modes, and simply wishing for both at the same time. Once you play the 60fps performance, it's impossible to settle for 30. Where I will disagree with Tim is this console being only for those who don't already own a PS5. This console is exactly for people like us, tech enthusiasts who always want the best possible experiences. I sold my PS5 2 weeks ago, and have the Pro arriving today. This purchase was an absolute no brainer for me.

I decided to go the extra mile and buy a PC. I got a Lenovo Legion Tower 7i with a 4080 Super GPU on sale for $1999. It was $3200. Sure it's over 2 and a half times the price of a PS5 Pro, but I already own a PS5 and at least this way I got access to way more games, and I won't have to compromise on frame rate and fidelity. Sure PC doesn't get PS5 exclusives on day 1 but so far I feel like it's the best experience I'm having as a gamer.

Solid PC and great deal, and, totally understandable as someone who also has a $2K+ PC… at the same time, are we just talking down to the people who just don’t want a gaming PC and are console only? The argument of “just get a PC” just never considers that IMO. I have consoles and an entire PC setup, but I have friends who just dont want a gaming PC and don’t want to deal with what comes with that (upgrading, building process, etc). PS5 Pro at $700 now is a lot, but the PS6 is about to be more (more than likely)… which will make things interesting going forward.

I agree. I'm one of those who haven't gotten a ps5. At first because of the shortage, and then, after a year, I thought I might as well just wait for the pro version at this point. I really, really waited for this console. And I definitely think people like me might be the main target audience. Especially since there are still so many who play on ps4. However, truth be told, now that it's here, I'm not even sure if I want it.

I bought the ps4 pro day 1. I have a 4090 for the small number of games I play on pc, but prefer console as my main way to play. I'm the audience for the ps5 pro but it being a "premium" console without a disc drive is the deal breaker. I don't want to spend $700 on it and have to drop another $80 for a part that should be on the damn thing by default.

So glad to hear that the next Switch will be backwards compatible. I stopped buying non-exclusive games on a the Switch and on a different platform because of the fear that the games would not carry over. Now that it's confirmed I'll have no reservation buying games on it. BC is now the standard and should carry onto future hardware!

Thanks for the review and confirming Dragon Age still needs to be patched. The Monster Hunter Wilds Beta was all I needed to be convinced I made the right choice pre-ordering PS5 Pro.

Yeah. I felt the same way with the Monster Hunter Beta. I didn’t actually think it was that bad visually but the performance was not great. It’s still looking amazing though.

Capcom is claiming that the beta was not using the final build of the game and fans looking over gameplay believe them. The beta looks to have used the build that was shown off in June which was just as rough but the build used in the Tokyo Game show in September which was playable performed much better. Still getting a Pro myself just so I can play it in a steady 60fps for sure

@@patricklove7055 You have to remember that MH: World ran awful on the base PS4. You needed a pro just to get it to run ok and even then it was an unstable 45-60fps. The base PS4 didn’t even run the game at 30fps.

This is a pushed product without disc drive. Where i live the physical copies are most of the time atleast 15% cheaper than digital PS Store ones. Sony then asking 150 dollars for separate disc drive and limiting their stock to push people to their digital, overpriced Store. There is many reasons to critizise this product. These KZbin channels get review codes, they don't get review copies in physical anymore They rarely need to purchase AAA first party games. They are not really traditional consumers anymore. It is difficult from them to see this product in our point of view. I would aso appreciate some criticism in these videos about these products that Sony makes, but i understand that you kinda cant.

It's performance mode but at higher resolution for people with 4k TVs, so in theory you get the best of both worlds. I'll be getting one a year or two before the PS6 comes out as I tried way too hard to get a PS5 at launch only to play like 2 PS5 games, wish I just bought a PS4 pro and a PS5 later on

Expensive is relative to what you get and even the most surface level understanding of the industry and hardware would make it clear the PS5 Pro is not expensive. The business model for a base console is to sell it at/near cost because it increases their market share, but the Pro doesn't increase their market share, so the only way that it makes them money on them is in it's sales margins... which is about $100-$150. For comparison smart phones typically have a 250% margin, TVs are about 50%, and the Pro has about a 17%-28% margin.
