Playstation games with OSSC

This is a quick video showcasing the capabilities of OSSC upscaling device working with ps1 games. Well actually it doesn't upscale the video signal, but it does improve the image quality a lot! If you are still doubting to buy one, I for sure would recomend it!

I'm seriously considering one of these for my PS2. I use a cheap component to HDMI converter I got on Amazon for $25 at the moment and it works alright, but doesn't look the greatest. That Tekken 4 footage especially was absolutely beautiful.

I mean Tekken 4 generally looks fucking beautiful I have normal component cables yes there is some alaising but the picture looks really clear Tekken 4 is a improvement with this but I wish this guy tested something like jak and daxter trilogy those games have a lot of alaising on modern tvs

Can the OSSC play ps1 games using component?

It looks like 6%. 6% is my personal favorite setting because they aren't too noticeable but have a nice effect on the picture

Hey mate, does the OSSC put black boarders on for the 4:3 signal or did you have to adjust that yourself? My telly has awful 4:3, putting on grey boarders instead. Even worse because it is susceptible to burn in.

Hey! Well I never had any problems with aspect ratio on OSSC, everything works normaly, and ossc adds black borders by it self.

Hey mate. Does the OSSC fix those tiny slim back bars the PS2 gets when connecting it to a 16:9 display? I dont mean the usual black bars for 4:3 conversion to 16:9, but the slim black bars ONLY the ps2 gets if you connect it to the TV directly. Cheers. :)

Well it doesnt do that automaticly. I am not sure about it, but I think I heard there are settings for streaching and moving the image on screen, but I never tried it by my self.

Syphon Filter zaidimas super, bet Tomb Raider 2 zaidimas primena nostalgija iki dabar. Tuo metu tokia grafika buvo super, dideles erdves, judesiai ir panasiai... :)

Are you using component cables? Or the SCART? and for the sound I need to use a RCA to 3.5mm adapter correct? And once the audio adapter is connected the sound will go through HDMI? Sorry for the questions it’s just that I’m in the fence about getting one lol.

In this video I was using component cables. Yes, for component cables you have to use rca to 3.5 adapter or extension cable and sound does go throught hdmi. Rgb scart cables sends audio straight through scart connection, so no need for adapter if you're using scart cable.

Can i use this with HD 60s and upscale games to 480p?

No, the ps2 doesn’t do 480p, just 240p... however, it does 480i which isn’t as good as “p”. Only issue is the ossc isnt great with “I” signal. Truth is, even though the ossc doesn’t do “I” signal that well, it’s still better than anything else apart from a crt monitor. There are a few games that’ll give you “p”, but it’s worth remembering that mostly everything else is in 480i or 240p.

Ar galima šitą daiktą pajungti prie PS1? Aš vis tiek senesnes konsoles naudoju su kineskopu, tai kaip ir neaktualu, bet norint didelio ekrano, tai čia pasaka.

Šitą daiktą gali prijungti prie bet ko kas turi componentinę arba rgb scart jungtį. :) Tai sega md, snes, ps1, saturn, dreamcast, n64 ir kitos likusios naujesnės konsolės puikiai draugauja su OSSC. Šitame video naudojau ps2, nes nuomojamame bute neturiu ps1 konsolės. :D

On ossc you have to use resolution that is suported by elgato.

Yes I use component cables for ps2 games, but I heard it is recomended to use scart rgb for ps1 games it may give a little better video signal. And for ps2 settings all you have to do is change component video out from RGB to Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr .

Čia jau kaip pats susikonfiguruosi ir konsolę ir tv ir patį ossc. ;) Bent kiek aš ant tv pas save žaidžiu, viskas buna 4:3.

Hi bro, I wonder if ossc allows to play 16:9?, I see you use 4:3, but I´m really interested in playing 16:9, I don´t care the correct aspect ratio, all I want is to be able to play using my entire widescreen tv, I would hate to buy the ossc and play 4:3 with those side black bars, I want to watch everything 16:9.

Well I wouldn't do that, because streached out image looks really bad. But to answer your question, yes - you can play in 16:9 aspect ratio, just leave your tv settings on 16:9 and you are good to go.

You can use a Memory Card with Free MCBoot and GSM installed to run PS1 games upscaled directly from the PS2. It's cheaper and less messy.

Yes, I know, you can upscale ps2 games too, but not every game works and there is big risk that the game will freeze mid game. :) Maybe ps1 games work better.

Tekken 4 even without this box looks good on a modern TV the game is very well made and I believe runs at native 480p if you select progressive mode on launch of the game. So that with this makes it a 960p resolution. Hope that clears that.
