Steam Deck is where the excitement is at, today. It is a truly transformative console, with customer good will as priority #1. I was a PlayStation ride-or-die, from PS1 through PS4, and it was a fun ride!! I think it's foolish to gauge Sony's future by past success. For starters the leadership that made the decision for the amazing PS4 gen isn't there anymore. They've also invested more into live service than single player games (60-40%). You can say a little over half isn't world ending but what was it before? I don't remember Sony releasing any notable live service games for PS4 so the games Sony is known for could have had their funding reduced by half. Follow that up with the CFO demanding layoffs to make the budget tighter. And competitors like MS poaching their talent. One has to ask, can they still produce or are they just hiding behind the brand that others built? Next year is going to be their prove it year. And it doesn't matter how many reviewer glaze their games like how they did Concord. Will their console owners by these games? And honestly IDK.

You still get your samurai warfare stuff but you also get to see how the clans and the shogunate were going to oppress the Ainu. Context: The game is set in Hokkaido in the early days of the Edo period. (1603) The Ainu and Mainland Japan had only limited interactions before this time period and the Shogunate was planning to expand into their territory. The Shogunate, specifically represented the Matsunae clan will be taking the role of the Mongols in the first game (powerful, foreign invaders) while the native Ainu will probably be taking the role of Japan. (the hopelessly outmatched locals who must use subterfuge and asymmetric warfare to win) This is all purely speculative on my end, but it lines up research-wise. Dash, M. (2013, June 20). Horizon forbidden west has sold nearly 9 million copies in a short couple years. And is an amazing game. Horizon remake is only going to be 9.99 and personally it’s worth that even if I don’t think it was needed it looks better. There’s a reason they haven’t done a bloodborne remaster it’s only sold 8 million copies since release years and years ago. They remake zero dawn because it’s sold 24 million copies. If people wanted a bloodborne remake (I’d love one) go buy the game and not just play it on ps plus. I bought myself. Sony will do what makes them money and that’s why they think horizons a safer bet with all those sales. Plus the new ghosts game looks great. And Sony will probably be saving a few things to announce the rest of the year. I’ve been let down by Sony recently but it seems like they might have learned their lesson. At least I hope. Anyone with a brain knows that there are games coming. The live service crap and the pandemic caused a large hole in releases. But more are coming. @@Marksman3434sales is not the same as public perception or timelessness of games. Also, just to put things into perspective, Sony's market cap is around 120.1 billion while Nintendo's is 65.56 billion. Nintendo repeatedly shoots itself in the foot holding back their game design. They want to be seen as kid friend instead of family friendly, which limits their IPs, and depth of story telling. Not to mention their hardware was dated when it released and that hinders depth of game play and fidelity. That is also not mentioning their toxic retaliation to their fan base. Of course this video highlights issues with Sony, so they both have their faults. I like both Sony and Nintendo, I have fond memories with both, but if I were ever in a situation to save one over the other Sony would win every time. However, I avoid having to chose by being on PC (well just steam deck for now).
@Folutu4 сағат бұрын
@@PinkgloRadio Depends. Nintendo's lower market cap is offset by the fact that they are also debtless compared to the others. No one's making profits as large as Nintendo does, and that means they are the ones that are in danger the least of the three. Not to mention, you say the dated hardware is their biggest weakness, but I'd argue that it is their biggest strength because the average gamer is more able to afford their products and they make up for this weakness with some serious optimization to hit the required targets for their games. Sony's higher market cap is offset by much higher sunk costs which means flops like Concord hits them harder than such a flop would to Nintendo, hypothetically speaking.

Wild to me that we got zero killzone redux, resistance redux, all sly, jak redux, fuck man even infamous. Then we got their anti consumer practices. Yeah me personally I'm scoring with xbox and game pass, I don't love to be shafted by a company that doesn't really give a fuck about anything besides money and i could give s fuck less about slow moving cinematic games with janky as mechanics

The only reasons games are so expensive to make is because they make them so expensive to make. We've seen 1 dev studios make games in their basements that can hold their own against AAA published games. Please stop using the cost of games as an excuse.

The PSN issue is still ongoing & painful for non-PSN supported countries. So much for the "Play has no limit" motto, and that's their sales lost though... Glad I able to keep & enjoy the Helldivers 2 as PSN requirement is suspended & delayed to calmer days.

You make a lot of assumptions in this video. One of the big reasons Sony is doing so many remasters is to train devs on their internal proprietary game engines. It's not for whatever vapid reason you came up with. That fact has been reported by actual investigative journalists. Presenting a lot of conjecture like you know exactly what's going on with a company is not a good thing to do. It ends up riling people up with misinformation.

I'll say this. MS has the better "set top box" experience right now. I'm at a loss as to how Sony dropped the ball there. The optical drive DOES in fact have three laser diodes, one's specifically for CDs, but it has no software ability to play back CDs, one of the easiest things for them to code in support for. Indeed, they don't have any sort of media player for files on a USB stick, such as MP3, FLAC, or various video files. Their DVD and Bluray playback has a rather annoying "playing" icon displayed right in the middle of the screen, which results in a lot of frustration on certain discs formatted to move between multiple "chapters" seamlessly, and there's no built in general purpose web browser, such as a port of Firefox or something. (On that last point, there ARE workaround exploits, but that's the problem, they're just workaround exploits).

There was a time when a remaster/remake of a seven year old game was very justified. You look at Super Mario All-Stars and the visual and audio improvements over the NES versions are drastic, and that's only a five year gap between SMB3 (1988) and All-Stars (1993). Now, diminishing returns (as magnified recently thanks to the barely noticeable changes between PS5 and Pro) make it very clear that we don't actually need these games remade or remastered all that often any more. PS4 games look absolutely fine, even now. Bloodborne is still a gorgeous game, even when put up against Elden Ring. PS3 era games? Yeah, they can stand to get full on visual remakes these days, as in the case of Demon's Souls, but heck even then SOME of them it's hard to justify.... as in the case of The Last Of Us. Heck, it's hard to say if it's even worth a full graphical remaster of Metal Gear Solid 4 or Final Fantasy XIII. Slap a higher frame rate and some higher res textures in there and that'll be enough.

IP damage is going to be a big factor with games like "The Last of Us", and Sony US is in a seriously bad place by not recognizing the factors causing huge failures like concord or effectively dealing with those factors which are leading to future failures like assassin's creed shadows and dragon age veilguard. it's like they used to say: a hundred "atta-boys" can't erase one "aw crap". goodwill builds slowly and is damaged or destroyed very quickly. blaming their customers for dropping player counts like they allowed their developers to do with outlaws and helldivers and using journos to attack critics instead of quickly and effectively correcting company mistakes didn't help. sony is going to have to replace their US execs (top down), staff, and devs entirely to truly deal with matters (and fast)...

sony is is still making some weird decisions with even their exclusives. for example, in the state of play they showed of the Keanu would be in Sonic x Shadow Generations. Which was cool. but not the exclusive content. instead it's some extra deleted footage from the prologue animation that's going to be up youtube asap. It's like their marketing team is working well but the business decisions aren't great

I know they call them remasters, but Horizon Zero Dawn remaster is basicly just a PS5 upgrade. Same if they to it with Forbidden West for PS6. I have absolutely no problem with that as long as they continue to do the 10$ upgrade path.

When Nintendo had a direct a while back they ended with a Remaster of The Paper Mario RPG from the Game Cube. With last sales updates at the 1 to 2 Mil range, if it outsells the Horizon remaster Sony is doomed. But that game is the one diehard Paper Mario fans worship. That was asked to happen for so long even non Paper Mario fans could appreciate the gesture. Lot of companies, including Game Freak, seem to do that

if they adjust progression, combat, stealth and character writing just a tad for ghost 2 it’ll be fire. Ghost 1 has a lot of issues, albeit relatively minor, I can easily see SP mending those negatives and coming out with a title on par with some of the 2020s greatest hits so far.

Maybe ceos shouldnt get paid or get stock options when they squeeze out profit over any product want or need in the market. Like of course companies need to make money. But at a point, it really does become, how much is too much? The top end and elites of the world need to really start reflecting on the amount of avarice and greed they have.
