What is even worse if if you have a usb dongle connected to the PS5 with a working headset, but then connect through your remote player the headset will stop working. However it works fine as soon as you unplug and replug the dongle.

Sony has always been really expensive for what you get. They didn't include Bluetooth because now you have to buy their proprietary headphones if you want wireless. It's not about cost saving, it's about cost to customer increasing. Forcing you into their ecosystem where they can charge far more than the product is actually worth.

Most wireless gaming headphones and mice come with dongles to avoid Bluetooth. Even gaming earbuds have dongles. Also, the ps5 itself and xbox do not support Bluetooth headphones, the headphones must be wired to the controller or use proprietary protocol using the same radio spectrum as wifi. Wired headphones are always superior to wireless. Even 30 dollar wired earbud can beat the audio quality of greater than hundred dollar earbuds.

Its cool in theory my biggest problem is the slowness of the connection. For example if you are playing in your house connected to your local wifi, the playstation portal has to go out to the internet(outside of your local network) and come back to your playstation. It wouldnt just find the connection in your local network and take the shortest route to your playstation. This creates lag and if for some reason you dont have internet you cant use it instead of being able to just connect via your local network.

So a guy at sony made a joke about a 2015 tablet screen, sliced dualsense in half and glued it to the screen, not having the 25yo technology that is Bluetooth and being basically a Wii U ripoff if Nintendo were actually even less consumer friendly that they actually are, and execs actually green-lighted that joke, manufactured it, gave it to IGN like a pair of socks for Christmas, and they give it an 8. Alright.

One workaround for audio if at home is if you have wireless headset that has a dongle you can have plugged into the ps5 like normal connected to the headset and as long as you are in range of the dongle then you can still enjoy wireless audio

Does PS remote work really work great on tablet and phones? Lol that has never been my experience even with high internet speed. It tends to be a blurry mess and have lots of input lag.

Hang on hang on now…this was bizarre. You said first it was amazing. Then you said it has terrible sound, no Bluetooth and you can’t connect to ANY outside WiFi requiring a web browser and you also have to have your home setup on point and even then it lagged out at times but then at the end it was suddenly great…I’m so confused 😅 You said “it’s the best current device for remote PlayStation” after all that? Well for the public Wifi issue needing you to use a browser to connect, you could be really creative and connect on to the public Wifi using your mobile phone and then set up a Wifi hot spot and have your Playstation Portal tether/connect to that for the internet access. No doubt the internet speed will be rubbish if not more so, but it should still work albeit with a lot more steps.
