PlayStation pulse elite connection issues and connecting to PlayStation portal!

Thank you so much for this. Not only did I not have mine plugged into the back, my Link connecter and Headset both said firmware updates were needed, but I would have never figured that out without your video. I’m all working because of your good deed. Thanks!!! This was driving me crazy.

I have the same problem. Your elite headset is actually connecting to the ps5 and not the portal.

Can you please show a video on it. I should be able to connect before I remote play in to the ps5 Solved: there are two types of blue flashing pulses. Have to wait for the faster one. Worked without dongle

I finally got mine to connect. I restarted the portal by holding down the power button on the portal. Once it restarted, the headphones connected immediately. hope this works for everyone with issues

I have the Pulse 3D headset, not the Elite version. There is no PS Link button on my device. My headset pairs automatically when I turn it on. However, I’m experiencing the same issues connecting my headset to the PS Portal that many others have reported. In my case, the headset works with my PS5, but not with the Portal. Do you have any suggestions?

Sony dropped the ball with this headset and the portal its a royal pain in the ass to connect. The way i explained in the video is way i got it to work. Now for connecting it to my steam deck, my phone, my chrome book ect.. it connects perfectly without the link adapter. Very weird, but i got rid of my portal awhile ago now so cant recheck to see if it works again.

Ok so it is 12/24, new Portal, new Pulse Elite. Totally not connecting, i eventually got it to work. I wish i remembered the exact tones that happened when it did. I tried everything. It was telling me they where disconnecting yet never connected. Its tough to recreate what i just did...but i was basically spamming the buttons. After turning the system off and then on again it seems there are connectivity issues. I am in a space with no other Bluetooth devices turned on even my phone. Keep those headphones on and listen for that third tone

Everything he’s saying is completely incorrect. There’s no clear explanation on how to pair the headset, and because it instructs you to hold the button for 8 seconds, many people mistakenly think they should release it right after. However, that’s not the case. The adapter doesn’t need to stay plugged into the back of your PS5; it’s only for direct audio from the console. You’ll want the freedom to take the headset anywhere, just like with the PS Portal. So, disregard his instructions-they’re simply wrong. Hold the button for 8 seconds, but don’t let go. The headset will power off, and if you keep holding it, it will come back on, with the light starting to flash, indicating that it’s ready to pair. You can use the same process to connect it to your phone, allowing you to chat while you play. Once it’s paired, switching between your PS5 and PS Portal is seamless. Your PlayStation will recognize the headset whenever you turn it on, and the PS Portal will do the same. If it was last connected to your PS5, the PS Portal will prompt you to connect-just click ‘yes.’ The same goes for your PS5 if it was last connected to the PS Portal.

@@Leweise I'm just stating what worked for me and it did just that it worked! The sad reality is we shldnt have to have so many ppl trying to figure out how to get these products to work. It's 2024 shld be easy peasy. If your right i appreciate the reply to help ppl because that's all I was trying to do and the way I did it it worked. Connecting it to the portal any other way wldnt work for me or most anybody else.

I get what you’re saying, and you’re absolutely right. Sony did a poor job explaining how to pair this device with consoles or other accessories, even though the process is pretty simple. Telling people to hold a button for 8 seconds just adds to the confusion, especially since the instructions lack detail. There’s only one video out there, and it’s just as unclear as Sony’s guide. Hopefully, this helps anyone having trouble pairing their headphones with their PS5, PS Portal, or even their phone.

You are the goat. Honestly this was the instruction I needed. I was getting frustrated because I was holding the button for about 8 secs but then my headset would turn off. Thanks to your explanation I pressed the button for longer and waited until the headset would turn back on and it instantly paired!

The problem I had, and many may have, is that I'm next to the PS5 with the dongle plugged in and when I turn on the portal then the headset is really connecting to the dongle - not the portal. I believe the issue is that the pulse has a button that servers for power and link/bt connecting. I turned on my portal (did NOT have it connect to the ps5) and then held the SIDE of the pulse button for the link connection for some 5-8seconds and immediately noticed the blue flashing was different. I was then able to press the connect button on my portal and voila - connected.

Ps portal doesn't have Bluetooth. If you use aux, it will connect like it's wired

I have No dongle plugged into ps5 and my elite connects to portal fine, what ur saying is incorrect, if im understanding correctly ur saying the dongle has to be connected to ps5 for elit to work with portal. If thats what u mean im saying thats not correct. example how would the dongle come in to play if ur portal is not near ur system and ur using ur portal on a different house wifi but still removing via portal into ur ps5, ur def not in range of the dongle but can still connect and use portal with elite no issue. The dongle is only needed to connect elite directly to ps5.

@@allendriscalljr.2112 in my experience my pulse elite would not connect to my portal until i put the dongle for my elites into ps5 then they connected. For whatever reason they connected only then have yet to connect them to ps5 without using the dongle. I didnt make it up. I'm finding these things are very finicky with connections. For awhile they worked great for me but lately connection has been a issue and plan to update my review. Im assuming because all the portal does is use the ps5 to do all the work the headset uses the elite dongle to transfer the sound from the ps5 to the headset. I thought the portal was suppose to have it built in but ive yet to get it to work without using the dongle.

Thats the way its suppose to work but i could not get my elites to connect to the portal until i had the link in back of the ps5 then it worked. I think the link is built into the portal but it has to connect to the link adaptor as well on ps5. Only way i could connect the elites to the portal

i can see maybe the issue being your not holding the pairing link button down long enough (8secs) flash white then hit link button on portal and should connect. sorry your having issues!@@bespinoza66
