When I first saw the mural about Kratos in Jotunheim, I thought that since it was destroyed it meant that Kratos would 'destroy' his fate once again. I always felt something was off about Tyr ever since he was shown in the trailers because we have Mimir who was once Odin's closest confidant and he suffered a lot worse than Tyr. My suspicions increased to dangerous levels when Tyr, after you free him, mentions something like, 'Those guys were the ones bringing food for me.' Tyr, the god who defied Odin at every step was living a relatively smooth life. And like Ash said, when I saw Lunda join the forge, I was like 'Oh no. Looks like goodbye Brok or Sindri.' My favorite fight was against Vanadis, and that made me wish for a fight against the true Queen after Ragnarok just as battle practice or something. No helpers, just Kratos v Freya, one-to-one. Kratos blowing Gjallarhorn is one of my favorite moments from the game but the top one has to be Kratos getting the spear, mainly because of what I think he was feeling at that time. It is not the first time Kratos has used a spear. The last time he used one was in Ghost of Sparta. Given to him in Sparta, it represented the faith and love the Spartans had in their god (see Odin, Kratos knew that kind of love and devotion). Kratos gave the spear and shield to Deimos, his brother, during their fight with Thanatos. Kratos left the spear on his brother's grave as a blessing and so it was really heart-warming to see the downwards 'V' spartan symbol during the forging of the spear and having it blessed by someone Kratos thought of as a friend-almost-brother.' The game has some nice references to the 2018 game. The mugs Brok brings out for dinner are the ones we sold to him as artifacts in 2018. This makes me think that they might have used the other stuff we gave them as well. Also, we can see Ivaldi's workshop/maze arena from the Misty fields in Niflheim. You can also find Sinmara in the misty fields after Ragnarok. She's a stone statue but you can hear her crying.

All the clues that Odin was Tyr were simply brilliant. I thought that Tyr was acting weird, but I just chalked it up to being imprisoned for god knows how long. But it made so much sense, why was it so easy to find him? But also if Tyr wasn't able to give Atreus the answers he sought he would ultimately decide the only way to get his questions answered is by going to Odin, and Odin ensured that happened. Also him calling Freya Frigg, and of course the accent mark being non-present whenever Tyr speaks.

I have to ask here, did anyone else think the last shrine that Kratos opens showing him as a god people love was painted by Angrboda? It looked like it was her painting style that we saw in the Jotunheim bit, it didn’t look like the shrines we’d seen through those two games. At least to me.
@d3mystic93
@d3mystic93 Жыл бұрын
If you look closely, then you would notice that the shrine was painted over the original shrine which showed Kratos' demise indicating that Kratos changed his fate, so probably much more recent than other shrines. Angrboda is the only one who could do that and if not her, then probably her mother.
@drewworth1568
@drewworth1568 Жыл бұрын
I thought that was the case! It was a nice touch, showing Angrboda moving past the prophecy she had been protecting for so long to state her own beliefs regarding what she thought the future would be and who she thought Kratos would become.

No one is ever going to believe me on this (though I have texts to prove it) but I clocked the Tyr twist extremely early--even before he sees the alternate prophecy. I had two things going for me, though: (1) I'm a writer and I think like a writer. I asked myself what would be the character reason for tyr to not just oppose war but literally any action at all. (2) I am well-read in Norse myth and knew Odin was a shapeshifter. The key thing really is pacifism does not equal inaction. The only person that would want total inaction was Odin.

Was hoping you talked more about Freya growth, but for me I loved the ending where artreus is walking after killing Odin, especially when he reaches Freya and she talks to him as an adoptive mother, the 4 (kratos, artreus, mimir and Freya) have become somewhat of a family and side note, I think storywise they’re hinting at a romance between kratos and Freya (wouldn’t be surprised in next game they have a kid)

Fully understood Sindri's anger after what happened. And it definitely changed him, because he was always portrayed as a shy, sometimes uncertain and mysophobic dwarf. Seeing him lash out and sound that broken at Tyr's Temple is the moment that really got to me. There's 2 things, 2 realizations I've come to after I finished and got the Platinum in the game, and I'm curious if anyone came to these conclusions as well! The 1st thing is that, in the ending of GOW 2018, it was a clear path of what would happen next, we KNEW we would get to Ragnarök eventually, so we knew where it was headed, just not any of the specifics. But now at the end of this game... we really REALLY don't know where the sequel is gonna take us next. We don't know if we'll have a GOW game totally focused on grown-up Atreus or an even older Kratos, we just don't know where we headed next, and that's exciting! And the 2nd thing is that, in 2018 we found out Brok got blue skin because he didn't wear gloves when smithing, so then his skin eventually got blue. Now Sindri, after all he's been through, ISN'T WEARING GLOVES AS WELL, so that means that most likely, the next time we see him, HE'S gonna be blue just like Brok, and not caring for hygiene at all. I just can't help but being excited at what the future will bring!

A lot of people might have already pointed this out but there's a subtle hint to the Tyr twist throughout the game. On the subtitles Odin reads as "Tyr" Whereas when you meet the real Tyr after breaking him out of Niflheim the subtitles read "Týr". The accent above the Y is the nod to the twist

28:49 - The game actually managed to trick me on the riddle. I'd heard it in the past but forgot the answer. And I think a short time after the riddle is introduced, Kratos tells Mimir that "nothing" gets bigger the more you take away. And it made my brain go, "Oh, yeah, that's the answer." And I figured Mimir declining Kratos's answer was a joke. So when he actually came up with the right answer at the end, I was glad I had forgotten/was tricked, because it added to the impact.

This Game is so huge. You can Platinum game and see 100% every region in map yet thete are so many hidden stuffs like runic to secret boss fight. Like Every statue of enemies you come region from troll to dragon can be awakened using certain hilt for boss fights. Beating them gives better sruffs hope PlayStation Access team do those in stream maybe call it beyond 100%. Its almost like over 100% completion video of Access is seen by Game director who said he s fan of channel

my favorite part is when Kratos says "You are ready...." it ties it all back to the beginning of the first game when he tells Atreus you are not ready. Such a good ending.

I think Freya's arc is so underrated in this game. She forgave Kratos and Atreus for killing Balder because of her hatred of Odin. You get to see her followers in Vanaheim and how people loved her as a leader. In the end she actually becomes friends Kratos and doesn't feel like she had to kill Odin.

After you free Tyre go back to the realm where you created ragnarok. There's a nice little Easter egg there for you at the end of the path.

When Kratos blew Gjallarhorn … his speech leading up to that, and the music! Phenomenal.

As I think more about sindri, kratos and atreus did save his life from the mountaintop dragon in 2018. So, we didn't just take from him, we gave him his life, sold priceless artifacts to him, took over fay's quest to bring balance to the realms (which is why huldra Brothers made the axe). I slight disagree with sindri's stance on his anger

For me, it feels like part of the reason Sindri can't forgive Kratos and Atreus is because he can't forgive himself for denying Brok an afterlife. Also, I think Sindri developed his hypochondria from pulling Brok out of the well of souls because of how gross and traumatizing it was to get him out.

I like this game. That's an understatement maybe cuz I've beat the game 3 times already and almost through a 4th. With that said I don't like Atreus segments (especially the fruit part). His combat isn't bad but it's just bare bones next to Kratos. If they are trying to move him into his own game or God forbid replace Kratos, his combat will need to be drastically improved and no longer an annoying teenager (yes, he annoyed me at certain parts in this game).

A neat little detail is that faux Tyr doesn't have an accent on his name in the subtitles, but real Týr does when you free him.

The clue for Tỳr was there the whole time. Whenever he spoke, it showed "Tyr" and not "Týr" but it shows "Týr" whenever others say his name
