PLEA FOR INDIGENOUS SEEDS FROM INDUNA STANLY C. PHIRI IN CHIWAWATALA
Chiwawatala VAG is a Village Action Group in Mnkhanya Chiefdom in Mfuwe under Mnkhanya Community Resource Board.
Our small scale farmers have been sold a lie by the prevailing hegemony-told that hybrid seeds, chemical fertilisers and pesticides will save them. This false dream has put them in a hand to mouth stranglehold for decades. 60 years after independence our farmers are still barely making ends meet and their soils are literally dead. Yet more seed corporation and donor funds flow into Zambia to 'help' with more soil killing fertilisers, pesticides and expensive hybrid seeds! WE MUST WAKE UP!!!!
