I have a casual mono black deck a bit like this. Ophiomancer+Heartless Summoning is the main battery of the deck and everything combos off from there. 'Everything' being such cards as Grave Pact, Tragic Slip, Grim Haruspex, Skirsdag High Priest, Falkenrath Noble and Soul of Innistrad. Deck is fun as hell. For me. Everyone else gets to sac a creature every turn, lose life, and enjoy my almost ever-present Morbid trigger status :P

Disgusting loads of value. +1 for the deck. I'd personally would like to see a full infinite combo version of this deck, and I think that's possible. With the release of Mox Amber from Dominaria, you could (in theory) use it like a Lotus Petal by abusing the legend rule. The abuse of that legend rule would happen once the deck reaches the Koziland State, which is where you have only 2 cards left in your deck, and all you have in the deck is a land or a major eldrazi titan (like Kozilek 1.0, hence Koziland). Another way to generate infinite mana from a Koziland state would be Manamorphose + any cost reducer (for instants), like Cloud Key or Baral, Chief of Compliance. Your reshufflers could be either a major eldrazi titan (kozilek or ulamog), and/or Gaea's Blessing, which was reprinted in Dominaria as well. Finally, your kill card could be something like Geth's Verdict, or Praetor's Grasp. TL;DR: It's totally do-able and funny to watch people freak out at your 4 Horsemen abomination of a deck.

This is pretty awesome, the GitFrog is quite excellent and who doesn't love grinding out control decks (especially U/W ones) with non-Blue cards? That's a damn good feeling. The video was quite solid too-the humor was on-point and never too excessive (IMO) and you explained your plays and owned up to any mistakes you made, which is always refreshing to see! Definitely going to subscribe. Out of curiosity, what's the music used in the "outtro" at 25:35 onwards?

@musicman888816 жыл бұрын
Deck seems sweet, but I don't like the Vizier of the Menagerie. At best he draws you maybe one-two cards? I'd prefer something like another Life from the loam or abrupt decay, that seemed sweet
@PleasantKenobi6 жыл бұрын
I thought the same to be honest. However, having a draw that enables cards off the top deck allows you to start using fetchlands as pseudo-Scrys. There is a moment in round 4 where I shuffle the deck three times to find Ob Nicky Minaj and play him. Cards legitimately useful, and integral to setting up the engine to combo off.
@musicman888816 жыл бұрын
I saw that part, but I don't think that kind of narrow circumstance is worth it. He's win-more, and he's kind of lukewarm-to-bad in most other situations. I would say he's more icing on the engine-cake, rather than actually being integral to it. And what kind of self-respecting engine needs icing? :P The engine's strong enough with what's there already. Cut him for a decay so you can not-lose to affinity as much!
@PleasantKenobi6 жыл бұрын
I genuinely disagree! Being able to shuffle for combo pieces to keep the value train running is huge - it means we don't have to clue grind the top of our deck, and speeds the combo up by several turns. This means we can actually kill people before they kill us. A 1-of is perfectly fine. Would love to jam more interaction into the deck, but really unsure what can feasibly be cut at this point without weakening the engine. Footnote: disagreement and discussion is healthy.
@musicman888816 жыл бұрын
I hear ya. Still disagree, but we'll see how the dust settles. If at some point you want to try my route, I'd recommend another Abrupt Decay instead.
@krimsinskye6 жыл бұрын
I like the Vizier, If you are running low on only one type of mana, you can use the last ability to cast whatever you have/need to in order to put out your high end stuff. I've commented earlier saying i also have a deck very similar to this one, and I run 2 Lotus Cobra's (in case i don't have a heartless in opening, and the value of cobra is terrific for popping clues) and 2 oracle of mul daya's. The oracle works with the Vizier, but you can play it if its a land also and it gives you another land drop per turn, having azusa, wayward, gitrog and Oracle on the field at the same time with a Ramunap and Ob Nix.... its game... done and done.

You are good at making these. On topic of the longevity of the deck, I certainly think it can have a more permanent place in the Modern sphere of Modernism. It's grindy as Fuck (yes, that's a capital F indeed), is excellent against control because of said capital F, has a suite of options against aggro decks and also recks Bridge-decks with those digital cardbord squares that kill nonland permanents. I love myself some grindy decks. Hnnngggg. Oh and #fuckoffjohn

@colgatelampinen25016 жыл бұрын
When legend rule was changed to its current form they also changed how land drops was counted. Before that of course both Azusas had put to graveyard due to old legend rule, but for example playing 2 Azusa land drops and then bouncing and replaying Azusa would have given two new extra land drops. Nowadays played lands are just compared with total land drops and unless you are playing two explores you can't play lands, if you have played more lands in a turn than your current extra land drops.
