Same! I had installed a combination of sickness mods together and suddenly all of my Sims were dying! Had a lot of work to save them from Grim Reaper or to resurrect them. Going to thow out all of these mods, maybe test later which mod exactly caused this :-)

I used the miscarriage mod in my Victorian Sims 2 legacy and sometimes it was quite heartbreaking. In generation 2 alone, 3 of my ladies suffered from them. One lost two of her children that way. She and her husband then chose to adopt and fortunately, she brought 3 healthy kids into the world afterward. Aided by LOTSA bedrest :)

I even found this mod once that let you infect other sims using the virus: modthesims.info/d/602983/update-10-biotech-station-mod.html Also currently the virus in vanilla Sims 2 actually gives you the option to take the virus if your mood is low enough.

I'm currently not running any death mods outside of the better electrocution check. I've experienced death by disease a few times even without mods. One time I had Tommy Ottomas use the surgery table for a while and then sped the game up while he was doing. During the speed-up he just suddenly stopped what he was doing and keeled over and I don't even think his motives were that low. Same thing happened with another sim I had I hadn't even played much. One day he just woke up from his bed and proceeded to die from disease. I've actually also had a few satelite deaths in a row (without mods), which made me fearful of fulfilling the "See a shooting star" want that many Science hobby sims tend to get really frequently. Since the death check is only at the beginning of the star gazing, it happened pretty much immediately after I made them stargaze.

You had the same shocked expression as I had when I combined Realist Illness and Fast Disease Processing together. 50% of the Pleasantview population was wiped out. I have never seen the Death by Childbirth until now. Usually, I roll a D10 to see if the mother/father to be will die in childbirth. I also roll to see if they have a miscarriage.

I play in a medieval setting and also use the disease mod by simler90 and death by childbirth, because both are easily tuneable. The higher my midwife gets in her career, the less likely it is for my sims to die of childbirth. Once institutions like a bathhouse, an apothecary and a charity hospital are established (I mixed my playstyle with elements of MCC & BaCC), I will lower the chances for dying of sickness. EDIT: I forgot to mention: Simler90 has a mod, that greatly modifies temperature impact. Though sims can't die from cold, they might catch a cold, when their temperature is low, which might worsen and kill them because of disease. The mod also alters the mood of the sim, when they are too hot/cold and if sims are in a bad mood, their sickness worsens quicker. I hope, you understand, what I'm on about. :)

Years ago when the Exchange still existed, a simmer did a bit on how to cause all the deaths. I want to say death by flies could be created by keeping them in a small room with a narrow hallway. Have them leave 15 or more pltes out in the hallway until food spoils and flies appear. Make them walk through the infested hall. You still need to manufacture it, but it can happen "naturally." I've never had it happen in a normal game, no matter how sloppy the sim. But some simmers want to create the death instead of cheating it--I don't care which way myself--so thought I'd chime in! I wish I could remember the sim who did that article (or whatever it was called back in the day). It was a lot of fun.

One of the most memorable deaths in my game was the guy who spontaneously combusted right after taking a bath 😂 . I was poking about with a group of sims who lived without shelter and who were a bit too keen on the woohoo. It was the middle of summer, he had just had some fun, and decided to take a hot bath on top of that. He climbed out of the bath and immediately burst into flames!

I highly recommend No Instant Firefighter & Cop by Piqiwi on Mod the Sims which adds a random delay between the emergency services showing up on the lot. This means that your sims could have to try control the fire themselves much longer than a couple of seconds when there is a smoke alarm.

Death due to overheating? It happened to me once, a long time ago. When I played a completely vanilla game, no hacks, no mods, I didn't really know them. Back then it was a very hot summer in the game, the sims were basically still in the red temperature, even inside. Once a male sim, the father of a family, went to the greenhouse to take care of the flowers, I didn't pay much attention to him, let him do his thing. Suddenly I heard screams and fire, everyone rushed to the garden to the greenhouse, and I see that the sim is on fire, I was so shocked. I didn't have time to do anything. It went very fast. Only his wife tried to put it out, but he died in the fire. In the family tree, his face was still red. As if he were overheated. Shocking, sad and funny at the same time... That's spontaneous combustion! It's rare but does happen, but it's not the same as dying from heat stroke (which isn't possible). Thanks for sharing! It's really cool to see it happen because I've never seen it in my game!

Spontaneous Combusting is a thing! In my game, Angela Pleasant (an elder) died this way. She got out of bed, her skin was red and she just dropped dead!! It was very dramatic !!

I'm conflicted about the disease mods. I hate the coughing animations so I don't want diseases to last longer but I'd like a higher chance of dying from the flu. Like "John caught the flu, you better rest now" (and if you haven't in 3h, your Sim COULD die. But I don't want them to be ill for longer. Does one of the two disease mods do that?

There is a mod at MTS I believe, that causes fire fighters to arrive later than in vanilla game. Although, if you combine it with the More Dangerous Fire mod, it could be quite a challenge to keep your Sims alive :D

Reading your gameplay rules inspired me to make one up for my own gameplay, so now when a sim in a career I consider to be high risk (military, policing, etc) goes to work, I generate a number from 0-100. If I get 11-25, the sim is injured on the job and has to use all their PTO to recover, and if I roll 1-10 they die on the job 👌

I remember when, as a kid, I had just managed to get my first sim ever impregnated by aliens (it was only base game back then, so no in-game methods of increasing the chances, plus I didn't know about mods) and then I ordered him to cloudgaze for whatever reason, and HE JUST HAD TO BE THE SIM TO EXPERIENCE DEATH BY SATELLITE. I was, first of all, VERY CONFUSED, and also very upset because I hadn't saved after the alien abduction, so after I quit without saving, the sim wasn't pregnant anymore. You bet I never forgot to save right after a major event after that! Also, right after I got the Seasons EP, I had the spontaneous combustion death occur. I had purchased some of the new, pretty interesting looking decor for my sim (it was either the jug of wishes or the wishing doll, either way they gave off a magical aura in my child brain), and when she suddenly went up in flames, I immediately thought the decor object was cursed or something and had caused it! I still get the creeps from those objects, innocent as they may be, and I've never given them to any of my sims ever again. I'm also like 99 % sure a sim can die while at work in the military career, but I never see anyone talk about it. I remember my friend telling me about her sim dying that way, and then I tried my hardest to replicate it and managed to do it as well. It had to do with a chance card about rushing into battle or something, and if the sim failed, the carpool would drop off their urn at the mailbox. Maybe it has been patched out, I just don't know why I've never seen it talked about anywhere despite having searched for info about it, and it's driving me crazy because I'm SURE it happened! But yeah, I guess you could consider me either very lucky or very unlucky, depending on how you look at it!

I had a sim spontaneously combust! This was a very long time ago. My sim was in the hot tub for a very long time because of a nearby dragonsnap plant. When she got out she burst in to flames! I was so surprised. Though snap dragon plants are great. Back in the day I use to put evil snap dragons around sick sims and I lost a few sims that way.

I have the fire mod and my sims were not living alone. I had a huge 7 sim family and one of the teens was helping out cooking mac and cheese for everyone and the fire killed everyone in the house, destroyed all of the furniture, and killed several npcs who were walking by as well. I think Marisa Bendett was one of them. I think I tried to keep the sims alive but I couldn't. So it's not just dangerous for sims living alone.

I remember that my primary school friend had Romeo die of food poisoning after eating spoiled pizza, in a vanilla game, but I never had this happen to me, although believe me I tried. I also infected Angela pleasant with both food poisoning and pneumonia, but she drowned in the pool (law energy), before my experiment was complete :( . Yes I know I'm evil :D.

I've been playing.... more than ten years if I had to guess, and I've had a total of one spontaneous combustion death. It's cemented in my memory because it was such an odd thing to have happened. A teenage boy, coming home from school to an apartment block (A young witch, ironically). Zorched into flames, and of course I had no idea it was happening so I couldn't react in time. Ended up having his little sister study the paranormal to earn the bone phone and resurrect him later.

The death by childbirth mod can be a bit buggy, there are times where most of your sims that get pregnant will die from childbirth but then there's a chance that none of them will die at all.

Hmm...I'm not sure either Hannah. I think most likely there would just be a lower chance because your Sim would be less likely to get their needs low enough in that time span. Should still work the same if they do!

I think what causes so many people to complain about the realsickness mod is that they're using it alongside Cyjon's more frequent and faster disease processing mods? So they have less time for sims to recover? Because I'm definitely someone who has backed out of the real sickness mod after it decimated my hood and I know for sure I was using the right version. I started babying sick sims and locking them in beds and spent a lot of time staring at the plague info on the batbox and I think that might be the problem, but I was never happy enough with this mod to actually try removing Cyjon's mods and seeing how realsickness acts on its own.

I wish there was more variety to deaths in sims 4. Ive only ever died from burning from a stove fire or my vampires burning in the sun or from drowning thats it. The only death that surprised me was the vampire burning from sunlight cuz my game glitched so my sim got stuck outside while time kept moving then day came so he burned to death.

I had a sim die of food poisining when I was 11 and playing the sims. I didn't know how to take care of my sims so they would die right and left back then :D It was more chaotic and fun playing that way though. Sometimes I wish I could play like I did back then :D

I had a sim die of heatstroke before. It was an elder sim that decided to get in a hot tub in the summertime!

I think fires are not dangerous enough in the vanilla game... but sims being sims and running TOWARDS the fire can wipe out quite a lot of lives very quickly, especially that they seem to be prioritising panicking over running to the phone, lol. Had a tree catch on fire on a big dorm lot - not an easy situation to handle :S

Hah, only had a sim die from overheating once. Sims were on a date in the summer and in the hot tub, guy sim got out and boom fire! 😂 I was so confused until I remembered seasons

Maybe I should make a "Mod Maker" thing that makes it easier to adjust these constants. I'm already quite familiar with the SimAntics engine.
