Nah it's just statistics the more people you have in your audience the higher chance you have some of these people. These people are very loud and grab attention so I would argue those people rise linearly in size with audience size and not that the bigger the audience the dumber it gets overall.

@@Revus324 in this case I truly believe it's audience size. There was a niche of people interested in financial fraud who followed coffee for this kind of journalism, and yes those will reflect a higher education level. It's no longer a niche therefore you will get less educated and less niche audiences. It's not a bad thing, but it does require separating the audience from the journalist.

Obviously though as a CoffeZilla fan I doubt he is thinking of much on the legal aspect and just wants people to quit miscontruing his words or see / use them in their full and proper context. It's when people do stuff like that, that makes beef between people thinking that they are being accused of something when the proper context shows they never accused said person of what it seemed like from the random post.

It's a really dirty tactic (often used by not so stable people that just wanna see people and things burn), and you find it a lot in these redit cesspools where the whole purpose of the redit is to tear down online personalities etc. and they use the larger numbers of the group to their advantage, either that, or some just get personal vendettas against someone they watch parasocially.

Damn, this was beautifully put. It's definitely an issue that a lot of people on the internet feel this urge to involve themselves in every situation going on as if they're apart of it, especially when it comes to a point of harassment. Regular creators go through it all the time with parasocial fans getting too close and personal, but I assume it'd be a worse issue for you since your content revolves around journalism. It's sadly one of those issues that might not ever be solvable, especially as your channel reaches a more mainstream audience... It's very good that you are making your stance clear on this. Just as you've made it clear in the past. This may sound shitty but you are not responsible for how every person on the internet feels and then acts after watching your content. You should (and are) making it clear that you do not condone this type of behaviour and that these unhinged people are not part of your community. But that really is as far as you can go. You cannot make these crazy people stop. If you feel responsible for how every person on the internet acts towards a person after you've publicly criticized them then you might as well stop making content because this is not going to be healthy for you. Nuance is so quickly lost that you just need to accept that the whole take away some people are going to get from your video is "this person bad" and that's it. They will forgot everything you've said before and after that point. In the example you gave where someone clearly did not listen to the caveat you gave in your criticism it is very possible that person have not even watched your video but just seen out of context clips of your content from tik tok or other sources. This part of the discourse is entirely out of your control. Again I like how you're publicly messaging on this and you should keep doing it. But please do not feel responsible for these crazy people and do not feel you need to apologize on their behalf. Because if you do then you are inhabiting a position where you cannot criticize people ever. Just keep being clear with what you mean and that these people are not part of your community.

100% agree. Please consider this though when it comes to people being harassed in person. The people that have scammed others have already painted a target on their back. If I got scammed out of a couple thousand I'd be mad and have something to say to that person, and people have been scammed out of a lot more. I've seen people badly beat up for a lot lot less. Again not condoning their actions, but if you play that game with enough people, you're bound to have crossed someone unhinged, or someone who is at the edge of what they can handle because of their circumstances. The second part to this is, if they're already getting harassed and a video comes out that they shines a light on all the shady stuff they've done, for the world to see. Probably one of the worst things to happen to them so far (barring jail). Of course they'd be trying to say it's all come about because of your video and make you feel bad. They can't get back at the person who they scammed then found them and gave em an earful because how would they?

So what ? If what you are reporting is the unfiltered truth , why are you feeling responsible for what someone else does ? People just use your reports as an excuse in order to commit an alleged crime. The ones reported in your videos should feel responsible that their name is involved in dubious crypto scams. Because i dont believe for a second that anyone that invested or promoted crypto didn't know that it was a scam .

@@Turbos-b3z I agree with you. In my opinion the crypto era is a hot potato that includes fraud , money laundering , tax evasion , manipulation etc. Right now most people like Logan Paul , mr Beast , Ksi think they are innocent because no one went after them. If you imagine for one moment that crypto should follow the rules of the regulated market , all those people should be hunted down with charges. So a journalist that tells the truth should stick to the truth and leave anything else aside. Now if a creator has some moral problems with what his reports could do and that limits his content then he shouldn't make that content in the first place.

seeing how it takes an FTX size scheme for federal law enforcement to act, I'm not surprised someone would personally go after some of these serial scammers. And honestly, I wouldn't blame someone whose life was ruined for thinking a jail sentence wasn't enough for some these guys.

I don't condone violence and harassment against people, but I think it's very inevitable... Also, I wanted to share a thought about all this: we, as a society, are bound by some sort of unspoken social contract: treat people well, don't be awful, etc. These bad people are breaking with the social contract, profiting of ruining lives, being awful monsters and using the very same social norms to take advantage of things like the slowness of justice and all that. Meanwhile, they are supposed to be untouchable, all that while perhaps doing even more awful stuff... Mob justice is not justice, but it dissipates somewhat that aura of "untouchability". I think it's good? Well, I don't know, I just think it's well deserved and inevitable to some extent... 🤷

Yeah, it's probably the increased audience, but also about the type of messaging. People in general don't understand the instruction of NOT doing a thing, it's a "don't think about the red elephant in the room". My suggestion for that is the "additive conditional" - approach of discouraging of action, like "If you do _anything_ to this person, even simple things like contacting them, you are a _bad human_™, maybe even worse than them." Do this X → you are like Y. (Usually something bad, but this can be used for positive things also) That seems to map so much better for humans to understand in general.

This is tough because how do you stop someone who is already willing enough to go out and do something extraordinarily negative without being asked to do so? It’s great that you’re addressing it because you’re not ignoring the situation but in this world we live in even if during the whole video you have a text box that’s says “don’t harass these people” there’s still going to be someone who harasses those people.

Yes, MrBeast has leveraged his charity as part of his brand, much like how some churches use Christianity to solicit donations and enrich themselves. Pointing out these patterns is entirely fair-it’s simply addressing the obvious. As for accusations tied to actions others take, it's crucial to clarify: referencing what someone said and choosing to act on it is not the same as being instructed or ordered to do so. The responsibility lies with those individuals, not with the person whose words they misinterpreted or misused. Even in extreme cases-like if someone watched your video and committed a violent act against MrBeast-you wouldn't be culpable for their actions unless you explicitly encouraged or directed it. Blaming someone for actions they neither intended nor endorsed is both illogical and unjust. By that logic, anyone could commit a crime and pin the blame on a public figure, a president, or a CEO, claiming, "They inspired me." Should those figures be held accountable for actions they never endorsed? Of course not. That’s an absurd standard, and we all know it.

The fact you care is what makes you different. Don't lose that, but also don't let it consume you (how's that for nuance, heh). As long as you move forward keeping an eye and placing the appropriate warnings/caveats, i think you're good. What I don't think you should do is pull content. I want the nuance and complex topics. Bookend them with "please don't" or "here's something you can do", but still move forward. Being aware of how you impact people (even if they're "the enemy") is what sets you apart from the grifters who don't care about their impact to others.

I think that what you're doing is the right way about doing it, discouraging your viewers from doing it is the right thing to do but I don't think leaving him out would or leaving anything out would be right. On the one hand people shouldn't be harassing people absolutely but ultimately if you are presenting the truth and not trying to manipulate the situation to make it look worse then that's all you can do and while I again don't think harassment should be condoned a large part of the burden of the harassment has to be on the shoulders of the victim because it was their actions in the first place that created the genesis of the problem. Now if you were pulling shit out of your ass to make them look bad that'd be another thing but you seem to back up your claims and hedge where applicable. Degens are gonna be degens even when you tell them not to unfortunately.

Internet has lost all nuance a long time ago; don't worry about things that you can't control. Moving forward, since you're already quite big with the "popular audience" as you have said at 4:00, if you do want law enforcement to take control, that has to be done first by working with them somehow, then the story comes out afterwards. Otherwise, just cover your butt legally, the internet will do what they would do misconstruing everything, and get on with the show. At this point, in the internet we just lost all hope with the world, so we just watch videos while eating popcorn instead.
