I think you should wait abit before moving them in, but you could also just move them in now and experiment how a smaller colony would do moving in to a terrarium. It would be an interesting video to see what they would do and how they will react the the new area!

Edit: #DontMoveThem! Dear AntsCanada. I did a lot of digging, rewatching all of your episodes on the fire nation, and I found out why they might have died. In your first thanksgiving episode last year 2019, I saw multiple majors with mites, I looked up the mites on the web and fount out they were indeed parasitic, the species of mite that I found can live up to a year without a host by storing blood in it's body. Although I know that it would be awesome to move them back in and you don't really have a choice, you'll have to risk another one of your ant colonies dying to the mites that might have killed off your previous colony. Also, it seemed that there was still quite a bit of waste getting stuck near the waterfall on the tops of plants which could have poisoned their water suply. Why not drill a hole in the the Selva de fuego ant world and attach a tube. Make de fego the new out world. Let the ants decide when to move in. Or perhaps the ember empress will keep her nest and selva de fuego, be the new outworld

They also can live for a few days without a head. I keep Tarantulas, Geckos, bearded Dragons, and a PacMan Frog who love roaches. I heard that roaches could live 7 days without a head. I didn’t think it was true. So I got a male Dubia and “momma had a baby and it’s head popped off”. Unfortunately part of its feeding system came out. So I decided to add 2 more. One I crushed and the other I used a pair of scissors to cut off the head. They all 3 lived for about 5 days. They would hide and when I would poke them they would move. It was very weird. Then, because I don’t waste good bugs, I gave them to my Beardie :)

Most insects, spiders, and even mollusks have open repository systems allowing them to breath even without heads, pulling in oxygen through their blood. So bc of that and their nervous system, they'll just keep running around until they die bc of dehydration

I personally miss the Fire Nation, their appetite and numbers were like nothing I have ever seen. I’d like to see the Selva de Fuego become an EXTENSION to the current set up. Best of both worlds, full view of the brood chambers, best possible life for the ants, and a chance to watch the queen move from her current hide into the paludarium!

Ay couple of months ago I started an ant colony just a little starter kit for the kids and me and I'm absolutely shocked how may Ants are inside it I found myself sitting there watching them for hours on end at the night time. it's bin lovely to watch them grow in to the massive colony they have and it's something me and the kid's love to do I'm thinking about starting another one soon a bigger one but if it wasn't for this channel and the information I have learnt watching this channel I don't think I would have done as good as me and the kids have so thank you. #MoveThemLater Fire Nation died because of infestation of mites. Perhaps you should check if those mites are still there before bringing ants into terrarium. I don't know how mites behave, so take my advice with grain of salt.

@@Stalker-ph2ul actually in the last video with the fire nation one ant seen looked as if it had blood sucking mites on it's leg. Though where said mites came from is a mystery, maybe randomly from the golden empire, or maybe a new infestation. However I believe it could have been a mix of the two, old age and mites given the last video. Yes the golden empire did have mites fully seen and caught, but if you pay close attention to that last video on the fire nation you may spot said worker with said mite. I actually made mention of it in a comment on said video with a time stamp if that helps you find it.

I’ve been following and the last fire ant colony died because it’s queen died. If I remember correctly, fire ants only have one queen. So when that queen dies, the colony dies as well. I simply put what I believed is right for the ants. No need to get defensive about it by trying to imply that I know nothing.

#movethemlater I'd recommend to move them later because the newer AC Hybrid nest isn't fully filled with the ants yet. They aren't at the maximum yet, so I think that it's better to keep waiting until they need a new place, then move them to the La Selva de Fuego. I've been a long time viewer so I wish that the Phoenix Empire won't experience the problems their previous generation of fire ants, the Fire Nation, went through..

Answer of the question: Because of the design of the roaches nervous system. There brain is actually ganglia, a type of Nervous tissue running down the roaches center which allows some appendages to move

Just curious, although probably unpopular: wouldn't decreasing food and water to the point where enough ants pass away be a viable option? I'd imagine in the wild big ant colonies face droughts and famines, but I doubt you'd do that to the colony you've worked so hard to maintain.

I want you to move them now or in a few days cause the Phoenix Empire is too big for their present home. The big feeding and burrowing grounds are barren, while the Savia De Fuego, (Sorry if I spelled it wrong) is beautiful with plants and a pond. Maybe even small shrimp or fish can be in there again.

I think it’s about time to give the Phoenix Empire a terrarium. I mean, all of the other ant colonies are vibing in their terrariums, so why not the Phoenix Empire join them? We shouldn’t be selfish about keeping them in their setup just so we can view the brood piles and such.
