@@cam0987 my technique for dealing with shouting is giving logical replies in a composed manner... You need to have a strong gut and take the shouting... If it becomes unbearable leave the room and stay inside your room for a few hours. Trust me first they'll say, " badtameez hai" later they'll accept it and understand when their heads cool down. Afterall all they want is your well-being only!

Also trust me parents can give wonderful suggestions, if they believe in you! Absolutely spot on Varun. Moving out of home for a few years has changed my life. No pampering, listening to different perspectives from people at hostel, growing as a person, breaking boundaries (in a positive way), taking decisions yourself. Your video aptly sums up my experience of moving out of home.

From what I learner in the Upanishads, the Father would give sole responsibility of their child to the guru. More importantly in this case the guru would act like a father, so the kids were supervised very strictly, much more than the University and Colleges. Even more important point is that the studies of Vedas under a guru include knowledge of proper conduct, moral, social etc. while the study system in colleges do not consider that, unless you are studying social science or similar topic. So you trying to use Vedas to back up your point is not correct. Coming back to the current scenario, a good number of children in the age of 17+ who leave home do get derailed and some in a pretty bad way. One of my friend died in a train accident, during college, some were saying he was under influence of Alcohol, some were saying other things. Talking about the kids who lived in college hostel, I have seen few of my own batch mates who got derailed, some wasted a good part of their college life just chasing girls; as they were very much influences by the movies, very few went into alcohol, most of them are now doing sub par jobs and just making by in life. The others who showed restrain are doing better. This does not mean that people who live at home with parents can not get into such habits, but in general the chances are a bit low. Anyways I do believe that being on your own is important but what is more important is that you learn the skills to be on your own, so that when the need arises you can handle things. In a way what I'm saying is that you can learn the skills that are required to pursue a certain job or business using the free time you have, as a result of staying with family by doing many online courses and have a bigger headstart in life. For everything you gain, you loose something. Everyone's situation in life is different, just coming down here and making a bold statement is good for views but not practical. I would advice readers to analyse thier own situation in life rather then simply get influenced by someone else's views, also since the target audience of this video is 15-20 from what I understand, presenting only a strong one sided bias is not a good thing. Listen everyone's views guys and girls, but decide your path on your own, based on what you think is right. The universe is big and there is no 1 path to success but infinite

Never been able to make my grandparents understand this. My mom gets it though. It is unfortunate that my father passed away when I was very young, but my grandparents have sort of used it as an excuse to do everything for me. I am extremely grateful and a tad bit pissed that they did it. I am not joking when I say that my comfort zone was so damn great that I did not have the intellect to fill a cheque for some folks when I was 21. I feel the pain now. I tried explaining it and they understood like 20%. The rest just went over their head. They use emotional blackmail. Like Seriously! Now, I'm 27 and planning for my Master's and now, they're like how will you take care of things when you move to the States. Well, geez, I wouldn't be doing this if only you'd let me try stuff on my own for at least 2 years. Surely, I will make some mistakes, but isn't that how you learn and grow up? If you shield a person from experiences then, you're just paving way for a hard downfall at a later point in life. At that point, getting back up or knowing how to do so will also be very difficult.

@@anilarora4143 First thing, take some time to settle into your new environment. Enjoy it. Try to develop monetizable skills. Programming in any language, graphic design, photography, content creation, etc. It will be hard initially, but you will get there. One key suggestion is to spend at least a 4-6 months in areas that you have an interest in. Learn as much as you can about each of your interest in those 6 months and then see what you like the most. If you enjoy it, find a way to monetize it. Once you start making money, don't buy Apple products or any fancy stuff. Learn to invest in the stock markets, ETFs, mutual funds, etc. Diversify it. Start a SIP, if that works. Now, you may not have heard about some or most of these, but fret not, start learning from resources online and in college you will meet at least one person who is interested in each of the things mentioned above. Learn from friends and remember, "You are always the average of the 5 people that you surround yourself with". So, choose wisely.

My mom is old and I cannot move out even when I want to. I do everything at home for my mom as she unable to work she is so old that she argue all the time but I am always patient I have left opportunities /jobs because I cannot move away from my mom and I do not earn that much to take my parents with me and then live in a rented apartment . My life-6:30 in evening to 4:30 in morning I work in night shift Sleep till 10 morning Study , prepare food , do all the household chores then work on my dream I study , go to library . I take care of my mom her medicines and everything . I don’t think everyone has a choice . I cannot be selfish And choose me.

I am almost 26 now, still dependent on my parents. Collected degrees and diplomas from my hometown. My Parents just didn’t want me to leave even when I was able to get some good colleges and voila, I regret that decision. Currently, Living a decent life but consumption is anyways surpassing production. Unable to visualise my mission. Although, I feed myself well bodily, mentally, emotionally but still just don’t feel satiated. I am an introvert but can talk to anyone and quickly make some good connections but unable to keep as I live a rhythmic life. I want to go out now, but I don’t know what will I be doing by going out, secondly I am a single child and parents are at their sensitive age. The only time I feel like going out is when sometimes homely quarrels makes me feel shit about not being independent but on the counter side wisdom keeps my haste in check. I can't give you any advice as I am going through a similar situation myself, even though soon I will be shifting to hostel or rented apartment to pursue my mba, I feel we introverts should come together and form clubs, find a common ground to interact with different people I so wanna develop an app towards the same or if one already exists then would love to join one

Unfortunately this video by Varun Mayya is fuckall. He's assuming stuff. He's speaking from his own experiences that his parents shut the lights at 10 o clock. Even my parents did. But one who wants to stay awake will do it anyway. He can't take it that some of us actually haven't had major arguments, that we're friends first. He's GUARANTEEING that I boast about my house chores and I bluff about them to look cool. Balls. Apart from my work, I cook dinner for two nights and help my mother during lunches. Whatever they say, for a period of time I'm fully available for house chores. Why? Because it's on my priority list. Simple. I don't work while cooking and dont cook while I'm working. One just needs will. I go out and return back around 3-4 am. Drink and party with buddies on weekends. When my sister is working I even do her share of the house chores. There's mutual respect here and my parents take my opinion before making 90% of the house decisions and listen to me as I listen to them. Every house is different but point is.. Agar parents ko dikhe ki baccha mature hai toh they will include you and let you do whatever you want. But as a kid you also gotta have an attitude and not crush under their scoldings and give it back when needed which most of Indian kids lack. They're all basically wimps and that's why they all try to run from their own parents. Take care of yourself and parents. Chill out.

It may be helpful for the people who are always kept beneath the hands of their parents but not everyone is privileged enough to do so. For example, I'm a college student and i am not able to leave home and go for a hostel just because my parents can't afford it but it just because my parents are not that educated, i take almost all the decision of my life on my own. Bruh hiring a cook and maid is very common in metropolitan cities where one has to work their asses off for what they desire. Due to time constraints and physical toll, it’s impossible for anyone to cook and clean your house every day. Having house help doesn’t mean he’s not independent. Being independent doesn’t mean t do every work on your own. Simply delegating that task will do too. But living alone made him realise the importance of trust and how he couldn’t blindly put his faith into people he doesn’t know. To hire a house help, you need to be very vigilant with them as some of them can con you or steal from you. All these are a part of life experiences that he’s sharing which doesn’t contravene his point!

Yes there are always prons and cons living alone .I have also lived alone but for like several months but living alone like that is exactly not necessary .There is always a different culture other than solely english in our country .See after and during covid ,many have changed ,started and got many got remote jobs that is also a point.(Leaving out any business or studies here..)They did not need to move out. See always a change is not necessary to bring your success that's my point. See you can always be independent but ,what I feel if you dont have clarity in your head ,nothing works just being independent !! I have seen many people in late 40's and 50's staying bachelor in PG and hostel and life did not work for them. But I would recommend live healthy,stay fit and dont get succumbed to too many unnecessary things going on. Many dont know how to earn money ,so tha has nothing to do with living alone and having some friends. I have also seen many people not from village delivery foods at night coming from different city.That could be done on our own city also.This just makes you a freedom wanderer with some money and making your financial way out ,but wont serve you good for a long term purpose living outside.

From what I learner in the Upanishads, the Father would give sole responsibility of their child to the guru. More importantly in this case the guru would act like a father, so the kids were supervised very strictly, much more than the University and Colleges. Even more important point is that the studies of Vedas under a guru include knowledge of proper conduct, moral, social etc. while the study system in colleges do not consider that, unless you are studying social science or similar topic. So you trying to use Vedas to back up your point is not correct. Coming back to the current scenario, a good number of children in the age of 17+ who leave home do get derailed and some in a pretty bad way. One of my friend died in a train accident, during college, some were saying he was under influence of Alcohol, some were saying other things. Talking about the kids who lived in college hostel, I have seen few of my own batch mates who got derailed, some wasted a good part of their college life just chasing girls; as they were very much influences by the movies, very few went into alcohol, most of them are now doing sub par jobs and just making by in life. The others who showed restrain are doing better. This does not mean that people who live at home with parents can not get into such habits, but in general the chances are a bit low. Anyways I do believe that being on your own is important but what is more important is that you learn the skills to be on your own, so that when the need arises you can handle things. In a way what I'm saying is that you can learn the skills that are required to pursue a certain job or business using the free time you have, as a result of staying with family by doing many online courses and have a bigger headstart in life. For everything you gain, you loose something. Everyone's situation in life is different, just coming down here and making a bold statement is good for views but not practical. I would advice readers to analyse thier own situation in life rather then simply get influenced by someone else's views, also since the target audience of this video is 15-20 from what I understand, presenting only a strong one sided bias is not a good thing. Listen everyone's views guys and girls, but decide your path on your own, based on what you think is right. The universe is big and there is no 1 path to success but infinite.

At first I thought this would be on moving out like totally... even being financially responsible for yourself. But this made me very nostalgic. For someone who's stayed in boarding schools sincr 1st grade. I've stayed at home & been a dayscholar only for 10th, 11th & 12th grade (& now during my Med PG prep year); I'd say every word in this video is a must apply. And even more so because it can genuinely close the gender roles gap as well apart from teaching you how to fend for yourself. This video's like the 1st step to Adulting 101. Very essential.

A topic close to home🙂, im 19 and at the start of this year i really wanted to move out of my house as fortunately or unfortunately i ended up taking a college in the same city, so i wouldnt get to experience hostel life. The dillema i faced eventually was that at 19 i am making enough money to pay rent and manage my expenses but how do i tackle the 'savings/investing' argument when you're young. Should i spend 70% of my monthly income on rent+house expenses?

Generally you don't want to spend more than 50% of your income on rent+house expenses, but you are young so it is fine. Get a roommates if possible to reduce the rent

I'm living with my parents in my 30s. I spent my entire life away from them in hostels since the age of 7. Life is good here. I'm happy and and content like I was never before, but the only drawback is that they settled in a small town where there are no opportunities. I wish my parents had settled in Bangalore or atleast a Tier 2 city. I am here to quench my thirst for love from parents, which I have missed for 23 years, eventually I would have to move out again for better opportunities, hopefully I can convince them to come with me to live in the cities.

Honestly, people who say being independent (or just anything else) is against culture have no idea what culture they are talking about. One tends to think that anything out of the ordinary is against our culture. Nobody really has time to skim through old historical works, analyse and prove it. I plan to go abroad for studies and come back by 30. My father, in fact, believes that leaving home is a must for a young man, so no issues in the family regarding that.

@@pritech8302 You are kinda right but kinda wrong. About the influence of alcohol and stuff, it particularly depends on the individual. While in scenario of being out of home there is more chances of pertaking such bad habits. But for those who don't want to do such things, they don't. Some of my friends haven't gone out of their hometown for college, yet they drink alcohol at parties, while i just prefer not to. So no, it doesn't depend on if you are at home or outside. Yet the point stands you can do everything you want in your life and be successful even if you choose to stay at home.
