Good morning! I just discovered you yesterday and this video popped up in my KZbin feed as I started my evening walk on the treadmill. I was already enjoying it when you spoke about what had gone on in Afghanistan with the loss of our servicemen and your prayers for tg hem and their families. You had me hooked after that. As a retired US Navy Hospital Corpsman, Nurse, and Nurse Anesthetist, I really value those heartfelt sentiments. I am also an artist in oils and bird carving, recovering from Prostate Cancer surgery, and I'm always looking at art videos to get some more painting ideas. You have provided the complete package here for people like me. Very calming, informative, and spiritual. Thank you, have a great day , and God bless you on your journey.

Hoping your stress goes down in the coming months Jessica...I stopped watching the news, it is as if the world has gone absolutely crazy, it's so very sad. Keep faith your loved ones will be safe. Your message of peace is so very important right now and I am aligned with your words! I like how you split the screen to show what you were making the sketch of. Then explaining step by step, having done the sketch, you don't need to stress where you are going to go on the canvas...it hit home for me...

Also you chose a really good time to make us aware of the importance of taking time out from the news which I think is affecting everyone at the moment. I've watched Eric Rhodes noon Eastern time for over a year and one of the things he often said was "you have to manage what you put in your head". He said sure look at the news but DON'T DOOM SCROLL. Limit that time you spend on the terrible things going on and quickly move on to focusing on art. It really is the best therapy. A friend has a saying, " worrying is a wasted emotion." You can't worry about things outside of your control and expect to find peace. I am a kidney cancer survivor. The doctor told me that that cancer is like the sword of Damocles and can strike again anytime anywhere. I found my friends saying helpful. I couldn't worry about what may happen. It has been 21 years and still no sign of cancer. Unplug and plug into nature. I hope this helps you find peace.
@JessicaHenry3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Paula, congratulations on surviving kidney cancer! I too have stage 4, Neuroendocrine cancer. Since it develops in my stomach, it's imperative that I keep my stress to a minimum. Plein air has helped! I've had it for 6 years, and it has not grown at all. It's not the sort that will go away, but to hold it still is the best we can hope for. Thanks again, have a great week!

God bless you in your road through life and for your sentiments on how to not only survive, but thrive during extreme periods of stress in our lives. I'm recuperating from Prostate Cancer surgery some 5 plus weeks ago and I'm going better day by day. I'm very thankful for all of the good things that are surrounding me and try to focus in those as much as I can. I wish you well on your journey. I hate to use the term struggle as you don't sound like you are at all. Just taking one step at a time on this journey through life. Have a great day and life.

Hi, Jessica, first time seeing you. I am an acrylic painter. Did oils in college and beyond, but I hadn't touched a paint brush in a long while. 2020 happened and I retired rather than deal with "stuff". I live at a forest preserve and I've only done watercolor, and a little of the acrylics and so I'm hoping tomorrow to get out there. The place you were at today was WONDERFUL! I Good luck with your book. One thing I know about is agents: They'll take a book if they know they can make $$. I've self-published novels, and then found a publisher who takes self-published authors. I wish you the greatest of luck and well wishes on all fronts. Keep painting. I'm definitely going to check more of your videos out. ❤❤❤

Right, these type of paintings made in nature are full of life. It is of course good to get basic instructions on how to paint from a studio with no sunlight with mountains, trees, and lakes that do not exist anywhere. Paintings that are pure phantasy. Of course, studio makes sense when we throw buckets of paint on the canvas to produce "abstract art". But when we paint landscapes with happy clouds, snow-covered mountains, and instant water reflections then people put pressure on the artist. "What the hell - why don't you tell us where this is????? So actually, nobody buys landscapes made in the studio. Painting in this video is immediately sold.

Jess, we’re all going through these times and they’re rough. But through it all as a believer please always remember that your Father Jesus is in control. And remember too that because you’re his beloved child and wherever He is you’re with him…whatever the situation is you face you’re His child. And no matter what happens, you’re going to be with Him. I love you as a sister in the Lord. Please, leave the worrying to Him He’s got you in His hand and your family as well. May His love consume you.

Have you tried painting on the iPad? I know it’s heretical to ask such a question but I’ve been curious if you’ve tried it. No fuss over turpentine, no cleaning brushes, etc. Just painting. Of course no color mixing. Unfortunately you can’t do that on the iPad. But you can pretty much do all the techniques you do on regular canvas on the digital screen. Just a little different.
@JessicaHenry3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dorothy, no, I haven't used an iPad. I have seen others though and they seem to really enjoy it. I'm a traditionalist! I love the tactile feel of the paint coming off the brush. There's just something so special about that connection.

Williamsburg are nice oils. I typically use Gamblin. Most students can afford it, it’s a good brand but there are definitely others I’d probably be using if I wasn’t teaching. Old Holland and Blockx are other great brands, too!

Hi Linda, I've cut back my workshops to a few a year. This year I have one online course left and next year I have a workshop in France, just a couple spots left available in that one. I may add more next year, I haven't decided. Some are online and others are in person. I am also working on a book of all these different painting disciplines. If you go to my web site, you'll see more information and can join my email newsletter: www.jessicahenryfineart.com

In comparison to your earlier paintings class in KZbin this painting was not impressive.
@teresagural67263 жыл бұрын
Exactly, because her lesson today was not about creating an impressive painting. Many people need painting as a therapy and a way to express themselves when suffering thru difficult times. Creating art is not always about the end product, but about the process or journey of getting there. Kinda think of it as an injured athelete...not going to compete at their full potential, but will another day because they're still training & working out the injury.

Yes. This exercise was about just getting outside and dealing with difficult times by painting. I mentioned that many times during the video. It was not about making an epic painting, but just being peaceful. Probably should listen to it next time. You tend to criticize everyone of my videos, when I’m trying to do good for mankind. Instead of tearing people down, I find it’s better to build people up and encourage them. Try that. It would make the world just a little bit better.
@lisagilbert28593 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ. I find this painting impressive as well as expressive. Jessica is an amazing artist and teacher!
@pookiepoodle463 жыл бұрын
You need to pay attention and be kind. First, Jessica expressed that she wasn’t feeling her best, yet she still took time to find a beautiful spot to set up and paint for you. The demonstration was about finding peace, letting your stresses melt away into your painting and surroundings, and relaxing. Out of all the love, thoughtful comments comes your mean-spirited bid for attention. Look inside your heart, stop being a negative attention seeker, and leave this talented, kind, and generous artist alone.
