Yup, been there done that! Tire plugs have saved my skin! Story.... was zooming over the Chesapeake Bay bridge on my way to my AF Reserve weekend in Pittsburgh. On the bridge was what appeared to be the handle portion of a golf club. I hit it because I was driving too fast, was in my 350Z needless to say. Anyway, that handle was hollow and took a plug out of the tire, like a cookie cutter cutting dough. Instantly the tire went flat. I rolled into the maintenance vehicle parking lot and checked out the tire. Being late in the evening, no tire store would be open to be able to help and 350Z tires are odd sized. Only resort was to plug the tire with the kit I was carrying, or use the speed limited spare. It took two plugs to plug the hole and the bridge maintenance guys hooked me up with an air compressor. Tire lasted for months until I decided to replace all four due to wear.
