Thanks man! Very helpful information! Recently I bought a old where some thermostatic valves did not open. On youtube, I found also a movie where it was explained to hit the needle a couple of times (gently with a hammer) to release the valve. It was sticking... After it releases, you can feel the spring pushing on the needle again :-).

Hi Diamond. PP has answered my query now. I'm thinking that maybe if you fully open the trv in the room where you have the room stat, the room stat will kick in and override the trv before it wants to close down, unless you have the room stat set to super hot of course. I'm not 100% though. Give it a whirl and see how it goes, I'd be interested to know how you get on. I'll make you aware if I learn or think of any other way around it. Remember to reset the trv when you swap rooms. Cheers.

Nice work PP. What would your advice be regarding wireless room stats? Being portable from room to room would it mean they'll be in conflict with any rad fitted with a trv? If so, does it mean that systems using a wireless room stat should have all rads fitted with lock shields only, or maybe lock shields only in the rooms where the room stat is likely to be used? On the rad with in the room with the thrmostat, can you open the TRV fully? Or will i need to swap out for a lock-shield? Bostin'!

While my heating system is off and drained down, is there any reason I shouldnt put isolator valves on the radiator stalks to save having to drain whole system in future.

I understand you don't have trv where the room stat is but what about a wireless programmer/ stat just interested if its the same

My toilet and house entrance only have lock valves is this common practice or should o fit the to these radiators Thanks Tommy

|'ve taken off the trv control, I've lifted up the needle valve there is heat in both pipes, there is no air in the rad. the balancing check valve is fully open. the needle does not spring up when you push it down. but still i get no heat is it possible for the trv valve to be stuck down even though the needle is up. can this be solved

Now I like lockshield, but I also like TRVs. There's only one way to sort this out! Make a brew!

If you have a freezing cold room with a piping hot radiator then you have more problems than you realize. On another note my radiator is cold and I am freezing here in my flat. Hating this! I've checked for air and checked the pin too and found no issues yet the radiator is still not working. To make matters worse, my radiator was working pretty well a couple of days ago but has suddenly stopped working again making me more confused than ever as to what the issue could be.

This may be a stupid question but why there are numbers on a TRV if you can set the temperature on a room thermostat
