That tied in line is intended to be a vent for the fixture... the reason it's gurgling is because it's filling the vent, you tied into a vent did not run enough water to properly test it cause 8t wouldn't have npbeen enough to fill the pipe and trap and raise to the level of the sink ( likely this happened that evening ) respectfully intended but I think you missed this one.

Unglued PVC fittings: I'll never forget the call I had where the homeowner's sewer line backed up, and the un-glued PVC fittings in the basement, for the kitchen sink drain line, separated, and flooded the basement with sewage. That was a literal sh**-show. Worst part was they were pack rats, so a junk removal company had to throw most of the basement contents into a 30-yard dumpster before I could deal with the plumbing issues.

@Astinsan3 жыл бұрын
House inspections don’t uncover everything.. also.. not every buyer gets one.. then there is the fact that home inspectors are reporters and not the cause of the improper plumbing. Normally when a inspector sees meddling with any of the plumbing they will t er ll you to get a plumber to figure out how bad it is. The pex supply pipes told me and anyone else that the plumbing is suspect. I guarantee she was told he didn’t like what was seen but there was so much that was done wrong that no specifics were outlined.
@markprescott64773 жыл бұрын
@@Astinsan yes in many states home inspections are not required, and in the ones that are, an "inspection" is not a pass or fail, it simply points out issues to serve as negotiation between purchaser and buyer on the sale price. I am in Virginia so only time we have pass or fail inspection is for FHA, FDA loans etc, where septic / well inspections are required to pass. All other sales are "as is".

Isn't that wobbly pipe a Vent, possibly? OK you said that eventually... But I'm thinking that now there's no more Vent on the line, and draining the sink gurgles up air bubbes. Wonder what will happen if the sink is full of water. No vent won't help draining a full sink. But she doesn't use the basket strainer so I guess the sink won't be filled up ever. "Good enough for this neighborhood" is spot on. Hope you don't get called back.

That sink originally flowed in the floor... there is absolutely NO way that sink could flow to the left in that wall... as u met it , it looks like that Other pipe on the left flows into the main waste pipe running through the floor...secondly a thorough investigation of where the pipes are distributed and or sourced has to be done before making changes... In the end u condemned the floor and diverted ur waste water to the left in that wall.. but water cant flow uphill.. the cleanout looks higher than the TEE on the main indicating whatever in that wall is flowing into that main floor pipe... but anyway that's all from me ..I'd investigate properly before making changes

Number one rule to good management . Always inspect what you except . Steve I would have tested each piping system individually first . To find the correct piping system to correct with the Pee-trap problem . Even if I had to work with unglued parts to determine which piping was needing the correction the issue . By running water through it first while plugging off one of the water lines . To find the correct flow . I feel you assumed the piping with the cleanout was the correct GUESS . To me I think you chose by the look and not by a better inspection . Still yet,.. One miss is not make a strike- out . It may only become a back-up-an-regroup situation . Personally, your sight is the best trouble shooting example vid on youtube . Thanks again.

The previous homeowner took care of his shit, a lot of it is/was 20 years old or older. I guess I wouldnt call it common sense, but ya dont gotta be a rockettintologist to do alot of these things. I have called an electrician once who actually re wired my basment right, and a (professional company) to come out and waterproof my basement . I got water in my basement a month ago. Sadly these days half the professionals suck, no body takes pride in anything anymore. And this is why if I can do something myself I am going to try. Because these days its a 50/50 chance whether its going to be a job done right the first time. And if I think and feel confident I can do it myself and save 500 dollars, I'm going to do that. Why was the tee in the drain position if it was a vent? I'm thinking that was a drain for another fixture in the home. I know the clean out was facing the wrong way but since it was compression fittings after the clean out it could be taken apart easily to unclog and that's why they faced the clean out in the opposite direction. No need for a clean out on a vent, plus if it were a vent it's traveling horizontally well before the flood level of the structure. It all doesn't make sense. I would have glued it up exactly as it was. You could have off set it before the tee to fit in a ptrap.

I'm a Joe homeowner but would never do anything like that. When I get into a more involved project (for me) like a rotted out bathtub drain (above a finished garage ceiling) or a rusted out bathroom trap, I go to the plumbing supply place. They have a better selection and often higher quality parts than the big box store, Most valuable to me is they listen to me and have knowledge and offer proper solutions. Prices are not that much more, if at all and their help is priceless.

Enjoy it while it lasts. those places that actually help homeowners too are getting very rare. cant find one where i am if your not a contractor they treat you like ABSOLUTE TRASH

@@DabblelyDiddly when I installed my own hot water boiler system, the hvac suppliers treated me like an orphaned bastard child trying to be seated at a country club’s 50th anniversary luncheon!🥴

Clear primer is not up to code in Minnesota, inspector expects to see purple primer on All joints

Hell, a DIY'er could've done a better job. At least they watch a few KZbin videos and do a little research before they attempt something like this. Whoever did this didn't have the slightest clue what he was doing. At least it provides some quality entertainment.

I’d have to look into the pipe going into the wall it seemed really loose I was thinking it maybe the vent and not the waste pipe … now water is running uphill

Hi! You don’t use primer before cement on your PVC fittings?

What the?! That is the scabbiest pipe fitting job I have ever seen! Was a home inspector even involved before the lady bought that house? If so, its time for legal action.

I would have had no way of knowing where either of those pipes went, and couldn't have done anything until I did know.

Good enough for this neighborhood was an apt comment.
