This evening I just noticed a very slight drip coming from my 5 years old TFI filter but I did take the top off a month ago just to clean out the gunk from the magnetic prong and just put the lid back on and it's only today I've turned the heating on. I've found your video and indeed, the rubber O-ring on mine one was coated with rust and limescale. So I've cleaned that off (but didn't have any silicone gel to hand) as well as the inside of the lid and thread and hopefully it now has been sorted. Thank you. :-D

Thanks Allen, I'll take another look at mine now. Bizzarely, I haven't been able to find the source of the leak beneath my Vaillant Combi for 3 years . It stops during Summer, then starts again in Winter. I've only just, found out where it's coming from, I put a bucket beneath the Pipework, which fills up about 6 inches in two days. The Pressure kept dropping of course. BUT, I now think the leak is the Tap above it, which is very hard to get at. I put some paper around it, and thats the onlly wetness I have found, never dripping off the pipework. Yet the Bucket tells another story.

Thank you for this. I’ve got a leaking filter and trying to get British Gas out to service it was pushed back to April so I thought it may just be a simple clean as it hasn’t been serviced for over a year and a half now but it’s still leaking so have ordered a new washer thing in the hope that this will improve it until April anyway.

Good video thank you. I replaced the large O ring on my TF1 this morning and gave it a thorough clean out. Good point about making sure the top end sits properly in the grooves before screwing the large cap on the top. One wee comment and I hope you take this as constructive criticism - you didn't explain that the black cap at the very bottom of the unit unscrews and is the valve key. I had to find this out from another video. I looked at your vid then at my TF1 and thought why hasn't mine got the black valve key? All became apparent but to a newcomer to these things it isn't obvious.

Hi Allen, you replied to Daibhi a week ago but not to my question of 2 weeks ago? So I repeat, is there any way I can adjust the valve without draining the whole system?
@AllenHart9994 жыл бұрын
I am not really sure what you mean sorry. Feel free to give me a call.
@video125com4 жыл бұрын
I admit my question was not proof read. The red valves did not shut off all the way so I wondered if I could adjust it by other means without draining the system. I thought the knob was held on by an allen screw but in fact it was a nut. I gave up waiting for a reply and took the knob off and was able to shut off the water and replace the "O" ring to stop the leak. So thanks for getting back to me at last. It is a shame you didn't query my question earlier instead of ignoring it but no worries, all done. Cheers.

The TF1 is a heap of crap, these earlyish models with the large plastic screw on lids just leak, no matter how careful you are with a new o ring and silicon and you clean the lid it just leaks. The basic design is bad and you should not use plastic material for such large screw on lids because they distort and leak and are prone to distorting when over tightened. Change the lid material to aluminium and your problem will be solved..
