In this video I'm going to show you a detailed description on how easy plumeria are to take care of . It's a detailed step-by-step and easy to follow instruction guide. All you have to do is get the soil type and though lighting correct and everything else just falls into place. Once again thanks so much for watching and subscribing to my channel.

Thanks for underscoring the importance of good drainage. Hmm. I might have to move my little plumeria that I planted this week…Appreciate the tip.

Thanks for the tips. My apartment is very humid, doesn't get a lot of direct sunlight. I put it in my son's room where there's most sunlight exposure. I got my first cutting through Etsy through a Hawaiian shop sent to me in CA. It arrived on my birthday on the 12th of April. I didn't want it just sitting in the plastic it was shipped in for too long so I did what you did but got some Tropical potting soil that had a mixture of perlite and lava rock. It's going on three weeks and I don't see any new growth at the tip but it does look even more bright green. I've been scrapping the soil back carefully to see if any roots had grown but nothing (I even dipped it in rooting powder before I planted it) so far, good thing is there hasn't been any rotting anywhere. I ended up ordering some fine rock soil online, bought some cactus soil, and some perlite to make my own mixture since the original soil wouldn't dry out thoroughly. I just finished mixing it all up and repotting the cutting. Hoping it starts to root and there is leaf growth finally. I did buy another plumeria plant at my local HomeDepot that has leaf growth and new ones coming in. Going to see how both do, will be putting the new one in that potting mixture in a few weeks if I notice it's slowed down in growing. I've heard it really doesn't need fertilizer but to use a liquid one if I decide mine need some. Thanks for the advice on how to care for them during the winter! I just subscribed to your channel 🙂

Thank you for sharing! Makes me very appreciate my plumeria plants much more now. We take it for granted in california because we can easily grow them in the ground all year long!

I'm from Louisiana and a friend of mine and I made a trip to CA (about 20 years ago) b/c one of us - I don't remember who - got a discount on hotel rooms in the form of coupons, so we cashed them in! It was a self-directed "tour", so one night we were driving through the Hollywood Hills sort of sightseeing, able to see all of L.A.. It was breathtaking! Anyway, we crossed a patch of residential area where the air smelled sooooo fragrant it almost took your breath away. Now I know that it probably was a plumeria tree blooming in someone's yard! Is that possible?

Yes! My M-I-L bought a plumeria stick at LA county fair 45 yrs ago n planted 6 inch stick in clay soil in Carson. She's passed but left behind a plumeria tree that is 7 ft tall n 6 ft wide. Just the white w yellow flower version but love the fragrange!

Hi concerning the soil I use coconut coir with some perlite and vermiculite with a little bit of compost. The mix has to be very porous. The key is to not overwater your plant. You need to treat them like cacti per say . The less is more 👍

The part about volcanic soil makes sense. Whenever I think of a place where things grow lush and beautiful I think of rich soil but Hawaii Is different.

Miracle grow has a tropical plant potting mix that has lava rocks and some perlite in it but you would need to add some sand and cactus potting mix along with some perlite to help it drain out better.

@@831mrscardoso Yes, but you're better off mixing your own: having to add several more ingredients negates the point of buying a mix, & Miracle Gro company is woke so I don't buy their stuff anymore.

Coming out from a dormancy, Give some fish fertilizer to promote the growth and just wait. I just use miracle gro moisture control, perlite, and worm casting for soil.. Then water with Hawaiian buds and blooms 5-50-17, fish fertilizer and 2 gals of water.. once a week

If you can't find Pumice... substitute Aquarium Gravel ! Works just fine as long as you have some sort of screen in the base of the pot :)

Thanks! I bought my first one a few weeks ago and it was one long trunk. I cut it in half and let it dry, etc. and planted it. It is now growing! I have a question: how long does it take the mother plant to start growing? Right now it's doing nothing. I'm in FL and it's outside in the sun and heat..........same as where I bought it from at the nursery. I have also fed it with a high phosphorus fertilizer. Thanks again, helpful video, let's see how I do with my ne plant obsession! LOL

I sometimes feel like all stars have to align for them to grow. But it ultimately has to do with the plant getting enough light, heat and proper watering
