Absolutely everything about this layout is incredible, as long as one ignores the trees. Because everything about this layout is awesome save for the trees.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
Trees are often one of the biggest compromises on all layouts really as in reality they'd be much bigger. In model form though they tend to dominate a scene so artistic license is often applied. Thanks for watching 😃

I love the little bells. That’s the modelling version of the railway telegraph.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
It's a fully working system too as the signalman out front uses them to communicate with the fiddle yard operators at each end of the layout, just like on a real railway. Very impressive! Thanks for watching 😃

Visit the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, located at Haven Street on the Island. You will see Adams O2 tank engine, Calbourne, and two Terriers, Newport & Fishbourne. I've had the pleasure (when I was much younger) of volunteering at the railway. What is impressive is that the Heritage Railway has acquired four-wheeled coaches, which became holiday chalets or beach huts at St Helens. Through patience and skill, they have restored these pre-grouping coaches.

It's a wonderful model. Love the block bells. If they did the next stations either they could have an amazing system running the same stock
@ThatModelRailwayGuy2 ай бұрын
I agree the block instruments really do add another level to the operation of the layout. I think the fiddle yards at either end essentially act like the next stations (or rather signal boxes) on the line already so the operation wouldn't be much different than it already is. Thanks for watching 😃

It's a fascinating way to view a layout and makes you feel like you're actually in the signal box! Pre-Grouping is basically the era before the big 4 railway companies (LNER, LMS, SR, GWR) were formed in 1923 which grouped all the smaller independent railway companies together. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 😃
@adelwulf8864 Жыл бұрын
@@Tekytek you can really go down the rabbit hole too. Pioneering, pre grouping, big four, British railways, privatisation, modern. And those rough time frames can be split up even further.

Be early 20's at the latest, pre grouping is up to 1923.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
It's definitely pre-1923 from the LBSCR locos. I believe those who built it say that it represents a period between 1900-1914 👍
@modelrailfan37 Жыл бұрын
What an incredible layout! The scenery is super well done, but I think the thing that makes this layout so impressive is that all the Locos and Rolling Stock are kit-built. Completely unrelated to this video, I’ve been having problems with DCC fitting my Bachmann J72. I fitted it with a Gaugemaster Onmi Next 18 decoder, and as soon as I did that, it could no longer do a crawl and it is now very erratic in its running, and almost always cuts out on points. I’ve never used a Gaugemaster decoder, and the loco works fine on analog, plus yours works well with the sound decoder, so I’m kinda beginning to think it’s a problem with the decoder. Have you had any experience with the Gaugemaster ones? Sorry that was a ridiculously long comment 😂.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
Yes, very impressive and to such a high standard you wouldn't think that they were kit-built at all! Regarding the Gaugemaster decoders, I've had a few and I'll admit I'm not really a fan of them. I had a couple blow on me for no reason and the one that remains tends to judder at slow speed. Personally I fit Zimo decoders now whenever I can as I found them to be very consistent with all my locos. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
