Dear people... if a fat person said they want to be skinny, THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE INSECURE:') Like whenever i said i want to go on a diet, at least one person always say "NO don't do it, you're pretty" bish i know! I'm just tired of climing 3 stairs, and felt like i just run a marathon

I have two minds on this. All people, regardless of size deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Concern trolling does nothing to improve people's lives (let the person's doctor give the health advice). I also know that obesity can be dangerous to health. I'm watching my mother die due to complications from obesity caused medical conditions. I am also morbidly obese and have chosen to reduce my size in order to become healthier and prevent the same future my mom is living with. I have been able to lose 20 pounds in two months and have not felt deprived, starved, or harmed in any way in the process because I am focusing on doing this in a healthy and gradual way. I agree that being a fat person doesn't mean you are lazy or that you don't care about yourself. I do know that long-term morbid obesity can lead to negative health consequences and a shorter life and it's important that we don't ignore that truth.

I completely see where you're coming from. The only problem I believe is that fat people have become the 'poster child' for being unhealthy. Whereas, I do exercises and eat better than most of my smaller-bodied friends in terms of fresh and nutrition. It's just that I am not interested any longer in being a 'straight size', I can still do my yoga, boxing 12 hour shifts standing on my feet etc. There are so many factors that tie into health and well-being, if you are going to outline fat as being problematic you need to outline all of them; mental health, drugs and alcohol. Over-eating comes from an emotional place for many people, yet the shame and stigma affects millions of people to not get help or think about their life differently. Those individuals need kindness & support that is otherwise lacking for many people with emotional or mental health deficits of any kind. Shame isn't the way forwards, but balance & awareness is. I hope you continue to be passionate about taking care of yourself any which way!!

You are right, people can be happy, healthy, and unhealthy at ALL sizes big, small, and everything in between. Weight doesn't always define one's health. There are plus-sized athletes, plenty of bigger people are perfectly healthy and the same goes for small or thin people. It is no one's business or right to tell someone how to live based on their weight unless someone is actually unhealthy or their weight is harming them and that is ONLY if you are medical personnel and have the right credentials or the license to give that sort of advice. Everyone deserves to be happy and healthy, no matter their size. ❤️

When will people realize none of normalizing fat people promotes people to be fat. It’s not going to increase the number of people who are fat. Alot of fat people spend their whole lives going on and off diets and working out and it’s just not mentally healthy for them to continue that. Chasing beauty standards like that is toxic. There’s a difference between working out and dieting to be healthy and doing it to not look fat. Being body positive does not mean praising being fat. Being body positive means you are secure enough to love yourself no matter what body size or shape you are.

Some of these comments are outright cruel. As someone who suffers with severe mental health and is currently struggling to lose weight so I can be healthy for my kids and not look in the mirror and hate myself. Seeing that this is what people on the street must think when they look at me, does not help anyone. Yes a lot of these comments have a point about health. I’ll admit while my weight gain is my fault because I allowed myself to get where I was by not seeking help sooner, at the same time there is nothing wrong with trying to find love for yourself. Most big people know that they need to lose weight, know that it’s not healthy and don’t like the way they look. But as someone who came on here to try to feel a little better before heading out in the world for physiotherapy and now feels 10x worse and just wants to hide, believe me when I say that being cruel does not help anyone.

I'm considered a plus sized woman, I wear a 2x or a woman's 18/20 (currently closer to 20). I struggle with a lot of body confidence especially with comments made by my own family but as I've been able to interact with the world more I am told that I am beautiful. I'm curvy, I'm chunky, and I'm learning how to be me and love myself no matter my size. Seeing such amazing people who are so confident and happy with themselves is truly inspiring and gives me hope for my future. Thank you so much for having the confidence I'm still learning. Thank you for being some of the amazing people who are teaching me to love myself for me. No matter my size or yours, big or small, short or tall, seeing this sort of confidence and positivity is amazing. I work harder for a happy and healthy life thanks to people like you all. Whether I lose the weight or not, no matter how I am shamed by haters, this is truly comforting. Thank you ❤️ Edit/P.S.: If anyone has any questions I can help by trying to answer to the best of my ability or if you just want to chat. I'm an open and safe space and can talk about whatever you'd like. I do still have much to learn so if you have anything you'd like to share with me or teach me about I'd be more than happy to listen ☺️.

Being fat is alright and I support it if anything. I’m fat, and I think that If you’re fat and don’t want to be skinner then don’t let the toxic beauty standards of todays modern world hold you down. I think you should be able to love yourself and show off the belly or big thighs you have proudly. The stretch marks and other things you might feel are insecurities. You should love yourself fat or skinny, but my problem lies in the normalization of obesity, obesity is not cute, its not okay. So many people die because of it, and to sit here and pretend like you can be obese and healthy is straight up a lie. My grandpa nearly died of a heart attack a few years back because he was overweight, I can’t imagine he’d be alive today if he had taken on the lifestyle that “health at every size” people are trying to normalize. Love yourself but realize, if doctors are telling you that you need to loose weight its not because their fatphobic, its because you’re obese and are making yourself more prone to life threatening diseases.

I also wanted to add onto this statement, I’m in no way saying I think it’s okay to go and harass any plus sized individuals for living their lives. I frankly have no problem with any plus sized, obese people. If you know the risks and other things and you still want to continue the “plus sized” lifestyle and post cute pictures on instagram or model, by all means I hope you’re happy and living your best life. I hope that you’re feeling amazing and I have no problem with people loving themselves and simply living. My problem is with people who support and push this “health at every size” agenda. People who normalize obesity, just because someone is obese doesn’t mean they’re supporting and glamorizing it. To all their own, really. Like I said, I’m fat myself so I know some of the struggles and the way people will go out of their way to poke at you for the sole purpose that you’re not skinny. I just wanted to make it clear, I didn’t want any misunderstanding.

You've stated it much better than I would ever have. Agree. I'm fat but since I was able to buy cheap exercise machines. I exercise it 20-60mins a day(introvert I don't fancy going out). Doing this wont really make me lose weight but I feel happier and energized. Respecting people no matter the size is ideal and should be normalized but obesity no. I am obese my BMI says so but it's not healthy. I eat salad because I love it. It's sad that people think it's a chore but it never made me thin. And this is the truth people think when I eat salad I'm on a diet and that's a big no. I eat what I like but I still eat healthy. I just hope people just don't say passive aggressive comments and pushing their opinions does sometimes hurt.

Yes, shame is never the way to get anywhere. I've been on both sides of the weight scale, and shamed greatly. Being able to realize that size isn't everything is important, and we don't need to compare ourselves. Even when I was underweight to the point of being sick, I still would have been seen as too big to model, or be popular, even though I wasn't able to function, and that opened my eyes to a lot of the issues in society. I had medical issues causing my weight to change like that, but the stuff people go through is sad. Everyone should be allowed to exist without shame and fear, regardless of where they're at. I know with me, whenever people bullied me for any of the things I was bullied for, it often pushed me into it further, making myself feel worse physically and mentally, and big or small, no one should have to face that.

It pisses me off when people say that featuring fat characters in shows is promoting obesity. Huh???? Are we supposed to pretend like people don't come in many different shapes and sizes? Fat people have exsisted for centuries, just because shows are becoming more inclusive and that animation has become more advanced with better budgets that companies can afford to have more than one character model doesn't mean that there's something sinister about featuring non skinny characters. Exactly this!!!!! Showing that people excist isn't promoting anything. People who say stuff like that have to take a long hard look at themselves and ask themselves why they think showing a fat character living life is promoting something while a straight sized or skinny character is "just a character". There is one thing though - they are young. I see how weight makes people who are getting older less and less capable of things. In their 60ies their knees will have over 40 years of carrying excessive weight, and so on, so that's kinda a promoting obesity, I really don't mean it in a bad way, I just see how this impacts people later in life

As a plus sized woman as much as I admire their confidence, self lovr and beauty, no 250 pound woman is healthy (unless you're a body builder, which these women are not). You're allowed to model as fat women because I do believe that you should be able to feel sexy and pretty at whatever state you're in but at the same time obesity is very highly linked to cardiac diseases. So you should try to lose weight. And it may take time for you to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Some lose 50 pounds in a year while some lose it in 5 years but the point is it IS possible. I've been trying to lose weight and by getting into a healthier lifestyle and nourishing my body and I've lose more than 25 pounds in 6 months. It's hard but it feels so much better being in a healthier body. Please, love your body and yourself at every stage but if you truly love your body you should nourish it and exercise it properly. Not to fit into some idealistic beauty standard but because we're beautiful and we all deserve to live LONG healthy lives, and that's hard to do when you're overweight

@@t.c.9029 I do think that your health is none of my concern. I don't come up to fat people in person and say you need to change because in the end it's not my business. However every single doctor would say that every obese person in unhealthy (unless their body is madly made of muscle) I look at it the same way I look at smoking. We should treat smokers the same as we treat everyone else. But we need to at least acknowledge the risk between smoking and lung cancer, and thus we need to acknowledge that if youre obese the chances of you living a LONG life are low. Now it's none of my business if you don't want to live above 65 but we still should acknowledge the risk of obesity and call it unhealthy coz that's what it is. You would say the same for someone who weight 40 pounds. We would tell that person that if they want to live a long life then they need to get to a healthy weight.

People who actually care about your health don't reduce it to a discussion about your size. People who really care understand that every body is different and worth loving. Don't let that negativity get you down. You can't shame people into healthier lifestyle. And you have no idea what their circumstances are. But people who truly care don't pretend to care about your health so they can judge you and make assumptions. That's not true concern.

Ya, it’s definitely not all about size! The focus on size in this society is very concerning, no wonder so many people hate their bodies and have eating disorders. Why don’t we focus on eating healthy, and working out and being the best we can be rather than peoples sizes? I notice how many skinny people think that they can pass on eating healthy just because they’re skinny... that’s not how that works 🤥 But because we have such a focus on body size I don’t think the realize the other dangerous side effects frim eating that way (such as metabolic syndrome) you know, if your eating healthy, enough (not too much not too little), and working out, most likely you will be at the healthy weight for you (not fat, not too skinny, just healthy)

A LOT of medical conditions can make you gain weight! A lot of mental health conditions can affect your weight! But it’s when people who are 30+ pounds overweight that use a medical condition as the ONLY REASON for their obesity that are the problem. Everyone has different metabolisms. BUT EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL NO MATTER THEIR RACE, SHAPE, OR SIZE. However, beauty does not equal health. I have PCOS and part of my weight gain is due to that but part of it is because of ME! I went through a period of time where I ate too much and now I don’t eat that much. I’m still about the same weight and that’s because of PCOS. My medical condition makes it easier to gain weight and harder to lose weight. I want to lose about 50 pounds. Only half of that would be from PCOS. So obesity is not healthy, but it doesn’t mean that someone who has obesity isn’t beautiful.

Of course, obese people deserve love, respect, etc. But from what we have been told by medical researchers (and why would they all lie), obesity impacts your health. And maybe you don't feel the effect while you're younger. Maybe you exercise and keep your heart fit. But there may come the day that the impact of your weight on your joints have become too much and you cannot exercise anymore. Then your heart health will deteriorate as well. That's why I decided to lose weight. I don't care if people I don't know are thin or obese or anything in between but I don't want it to affect me. And if it means that I don't have much space on the plane or that I have to pay more for a plane ticket because seat sizes are increased which means fewer seats overall (hence, more money for everyone) or I have to pay higher taxes to cover obesity health costs, I'm not ok with that. Mind you, I am mildly obese now. But I'm losing weight for my health and also so people don't have to pay to accommodate me when obesity (just like smoking, alcohol, etc) is most often the result of addictive behaviour that can be changed. Now when it comes to societal standards of beauty - eff them!

Update: Jordan Hall (the bald one) has gained an exorbitant amount since this video, suffers with extreme lymphoedema and mobility issues. Her legs look like elephant’s legs. She claimed she was healthy in this video and despite the fact she’s about to go into surgery for lymphoedema treatment, she still refuses to admit she’s extremely unhealthy and that it’s her fault

Being okay with your own body is such a great thing and I applaude these women. But for those who don't want to be larger, and are, it is completely normal and okay for them to want to change. I don't think it's fair to say that accepting being larger is great for all, as some people are not happy the way there are and with their health.
