I met Mr. Kahn in Las Vegas back in the 90's. He was setting up his equipment at a bodybuilding/fitness expo at a casino (I believe it was the MGM, but not sure). I was doing part time security and Mr. Kahn took the time to show me his skills and then give me some one on one training. That was awesome all by itself but he also sent me his book and a videotape of him doing speed bag work to music. Absolutely awesome!! I hope you're doing well Mr. Kahn.

An important part of doing this is having the right speed bag swivel Noticed the swivel he is using its different than ball bearing, they use ball hook swivels very hard to find, trasher house swivels makes that style

The small is fantastic for getting your speed built up once familiar with your striking. The medium bag provides a considerable amount more resistance building more strength in your punches. I highly recommend both sizes.Some people have expressed concern over the latex bladder leaking down more frequently than the traditional rubber. I have not found this to be an issue at all.

I bought this guys VHS tape in the early 90's...people ask me all the time "how'd you learn to do that" when at the YMCA and bags were out--I'd nail that thing and they'd flounder. These days went to much smaller bag, faster swivel, better platform,--speed is contagious...

I’ve started training on a speed bag a month ago and I’m accustomed to hitting punching bag which I just hit as hard as I can as long as I can but speed bag is a totally different everything Any suggestions I purchased an everlast speed bag an I already ruined it by ripping the inseam cause i hit it too hard when I finally get some kinda rhythm it lasts like 30 seconds and I’ve notice the swivel pin looks a lot larger then the ones I see on videos Idk if this is part of my problem Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

It’s all about learning the beat, take power out of the equation. So many boxers who focus mostly on heavy bag work come to a speed bag and hit it way too hard. You barely have to put any force into it to get the three beats. Just practice with one arm, tapping it and listening to the beat. When you can continuously do it with one arm, add your second arm to it. When I was a kid, my boxing coach made me do it looking away from it so I only had my ears to rely on. Which also helped me not hit it hard. When you’re not looking at something, it takes the urge away of wanting to punch the hell out of it because you can’t see what you’re doing And stay away from everlast. It’s good for being on a budget, but a lot of everlast stuff is cheaply made. Check out Title Boxing’s website. They have a HUGE selection of gear and equipment from pretty much every brand around.
