There are drills and techniques in all sports which require expansion not only for reflexes but also inertia which by the way leads me to believe you’ve never been in an actual fight to know the difference. My boy, not only does this device do that but also this is a device that’ll relax and massage your rhythm all-the-while soothing a boxer’s tempo by the beat of the bag as it hits the backboard. The idiosyncrasies of boxing is lost to the inexperience.

This is just something I've always wanted to learn and it's def not as easy as it looks. I've watched numerous videos on how to hit the speedbag, and I thought I was starting to get it because I record myself so I can see what I am doing wrong, but actually my technique was so wrong until I came across your video. It was exactly what I needed, which was step by step, dos and don't, stance, distance, ect....im still in the beginning stages of learning the whole technique but yours is the only video that has helped me learn the right way!! Thank you for making this video, you have no idea how much you've helped me. You guys are awesome!!

Excellent! Thanks for emphasized contact with the knuckles. Know too many who strike it with the back or side of the hand. Then, when you go primal, muscle and movement memory will rob you of a solid strike in the fight. Always hit with the knuckles. Hope viewers recognize the aerobic and strength benefits of long speedbag sessions. In my 60s and hit it 1,000 times wearing 3-pound weights on each wrist, then take them off and hit it 2,000 or 3,000 times at my highest speed. Few things more focusing or refreshing.

Fred T Thank you for appreciating proper technique!! Yes, the speed bag is specific to boxing which is why it is a boxing tool! Too many people seem to be impressed with fancy hand work on the speed bag but it is not specific to the sport.

@codeman95291 1. Change the inside rubber bladder, purchase a plastic bladder from TITLE #SBB, RINGSIDE and/or EVERLAST. 2. Might upgrade the swivel to a seal inner ball-bearing model that makes the swivel much more realistic with its speed of rotations. 3. Your back board needs to have a base of either weight on the top, if, you have a store bought design and/or purchase a circular piece of 3/16 steel plate that can be attach (bolted) to the base.

we do have a video in the works showing basic straight punch sequence of this and it's not easy. You are correct in that dynamic movements have to mimic at some point explosive bursts such as, punching or defending. But all-in-all every sport tries to strengthen weaker muscles (tendons) while keeping in form of chosen sport ie: Football w/agility ladders, hurdle and cone drills

Honest question ... anything and I do mean, “anything” that’ll enhance reflexes could and should be used. Just because your club doesn’t have one, doesn’t mean You shouldn’t use… be the first and be the one and only one holding up their hand in victory. As an athlete, do what’s necessary in acquiring pieces of every combative fundamental that’ll possibly enhance the overall technicality of your chosen sport.

@WesthamDB 1. Create the rhythm you’d like to hear and then mimic the rotations without the hesitation. In fact, it’s your mind set that has halted your progress. Saw it a million times, let it go and practice with abandonment. 2. Close your eyes slowly and listen to the rhythmic noise. When you mess up, open your eyes only to restart the tempo but in fact it’ the noise the bag makes that you’ll listen for and that’ll guide you right into a relaxed tempo of rotations. "KEEP PUNCH'IN."
@carywilliamsboxing
@carywilliamsboxing 12 жыл бұрын
@codeman95291 "yes" you are correct that model of speedbag does come equipped with a rubber bladder but I'm suggesting the replacement of a plastic one instead. Should consider a 6x9 speedbag or even better try a 8x5. I don't believe the bag should be larger for striking purposes because it's about getting as close to realistic as possible - speed equals timing and timing is rhythm

@ptboxing I hope you don't think I was trying to be a smart-ass because I wasn't. I'm just a huge fan of Freddie's training techniques! Also I'm 23 and started boxing and I want to get into AM comps and my trainer says I have a lot of potential but I'm having trouble getting my footwork down. What can I do outside of training to perfect my footwork and how much roadwork should i be doing and at what speed?
@carywilliamsboxing
@carywilliamsboxing 12 жыл бұрын
@mjg19999 I suppose in every sport there are some dynamic movements and/or fundamental protocols that mimic actual sport requirements. The speedbag, at its best, represents your ability to hone in on movements and speed that’ll help you achieve precise judgment calls when required to pin-point your opponents moves. I would also hope if your dynamic movements call for actual and realistic mechanics in striking, you’ll choose to mimic the actual technique.

@Sh00t1stAskLater Yep, use to but with all of her obligations during business hours that take her into the 7-day-a-week schedule, it’s difficult to say the least to find time to train properly. Think about the morning runs, afternoon weight program, boxing club in the evening and then finding the time to eat well. Give to the boxers out there currently, don’t miss it but well worth the personal goals. Thanks for asking and keep us dialed in when it comes to the instruction of boxing…

@codeman95291 Undo the lace, pull he bladder inside-out-might have to cut the seams of the bladder base from the bag-replace plastic bladder. Make sure the top tongue is flush with the seam of the bag-air up ¼ -oosely lace the bag all-the-while making sure tongue keeps bag from rising above and interfering with leather notch that the swivel shaft rides in. laces are pulling bag together which makes the tongue stay low when the bag is fully inflated.

@jacelendavid3857
@jacelendavid3857 7 жыл бұрын
So is there any other boxers that do both positions ?
@carywilliamsboxing
@carywilliamsboxing 7 жыл бұрын
+Jacelen David most people will feel comfortable with their dominant hand forward because it is instinctual to lean forward when throwing a punch. The problem is that boxing is a sport and very technical. You are better off being orthodox and you will also ha e an easier time learning boxing from any coach. It is harder for coaches to teach southpaws.
@carywilliamsboxing
@carywilliamsboxing 7 жыл бұрын
+Jacelen David very few boxers change stances while fighting. It is usually a sign of frustration when they do or they are very unorthodox. Boxers should be strong in both hands but maintain the same stance.
