between settlers and POE2 launch i got my first job. I havent even finished campaign yet (act 3 cruel with 30 hours played), and i have ~4k hours in POE. I sure as hell wont do this every 4 months.

I got into Cruel and my build was nerfed and I still haven't logged back in. It's a slog. I need to get it done though I was wanna see what the end game is like.

I might be wrong, but wasn't it supposed to be that a new league drops in PoE 2 and about 2 months later, the same league drops in PoE 1? That'd make way more sense, because: 1. Work once, release twice 2. If PoE 1 continues to be zoomier, you can see the PoE 1 league release as a 50% speed increase to whatever you did in PoE 2 - kind of. If it truly is 8 different leagues per year in 2 different games, that'd be insane. Bless whoever has to manage that and may the developers and artists take my energy - they'll need it 😅

Regarding the trigger nerfs, I was playing Cast on Shock with Ice Wall Arenas for defensive blocking of zoomy trash mobs, only to have that turned off overnight. I was literally using those gems for the intended purpose and they just got turned off. The fact that they basically disabled the trigger condition, rather than giving the trigger an X% Less Damage multi or something is just brutal. And if their issue was Jung's trigger rate, then that's on them for clearly not knowing their audience. As a result of the change, I had to switch to the cookie-cutter degenerate offscreening shenanigans that they're trying to avoid.

I started off EA with a monk, and it was a miserable experience. (I originally wanted to use a caster setup with the invoker procs, and only found out later that it was only MELEE elemental crits.) Melee felt truly awful, when white mobs one-shot you it's hard to do anything. Using all my abilities to try and cc things was also super clunky, only one faster attack support gem was just not enough. However, instead of giving up I decided to roll a new character. I played through as a poison pathfinder, and with the loot drop changes they made, and my better knowledge of the game, it was MUCH better. 24 hours to get to the end of act 3 on my monk, 6 hours to get there on my ranger. Using multiple skills felt so much smoother at range, and wasd feels really good with it compared to melee. Now I'm 75 and mapping and having a great time. I still have issues with stuff, but it's an enjoyable experience and I'm excited to see how content progresses.

I think GGG was very misleading when they were talking about ascendancies. They tried to push this idea that you could do any trial you like in order to get you points, but that's just not true. If you aren't doing them as they become available you are actively shooting yourself in the foot. Waiting until almost 40 to get your points isn't really an option, so you basically have to do trial of the sekhema to get your first points. I spent nearly an hour on both of them with my monk to get my points, and although it was a breeze on my ranger I still didn't really enjoy the content. I honestly don't even know what they could do to fix that, but the insinuation that you get to choose how you ascend was a horrible mistake imo.

I've also found that I'm not a huge fan of the passive tree. 1. I think it's aesthetically very messy and confusing. The weird shapes were an interesting idea but it makes it very hard to easily visualize your path through the tree. 2. It feels like the tree no longer gives you anything. (Aside from the occasional keystone) In PoE 1, if you need leech you just path over to a leech node. In PoE 2 that same node doesn't give you leech, but increases how much you leech. All of the nodes feel that way, instead of adding something to your character they just give you a slight boost on something you already do. It makes it feel a lot less exciting and impactful.

Ssf in endgame early maps and I'm enjoying what we have. Definitely think, including it was the right call. It will allow the full endgame at launch to be more balanced. I'm firmly believing we might even see an entire revamp of the system by full launch of you see the dialog npcs use. Needs some work for sure, but it's far more engaging than the endgame of any other arpg I've played at launch, even original mapping in poe 1 was worse by far.

1:37:35 probably so they can go on with better tiers as game progresses. It would be hard to go down on tier1 with old system.

just add the better tier as tier 1 and push all the others one tier down, it's just unclear which tier is the best for each mod with this method

I got to maps was starting to have fun. Started maps and fun ran away. On death effects are fun fun fun /s. Only having one chance at a map makes each map super slow. Can't be bothered. Unless major changes happens, this is a one and done game. I've seen maps, that's enough.

No, you having a terrible build & being bad at the game is why you were going slow. I have no issue destroying maps at a POE 1 pace. It's honestly jarring going from campaign to maps because it feels like a completely different game.

As a SSF only player in POE 1 im kinda sad about Poe 2 right now, talent tree is lame, gem support and gem system is boring, depth of the game seems strange to me. Dying and loosing map progress isnt a good choice. ive dropped the game after 3 days and im back in settler SSF

As others have said, it has a feeling of not respecting players time. If you’re a streamer and play 12-14 hours a day it isn’t a big deal. If I spend my 1-2 hours a day farting to a boss and get randomly 1 shot and lose all that progress that feels like a MASSIVE waste of time. If people try for 3 days straight to just get my last Ascendancy points but just keep getting shit RNG on Sanctum rooms or Ultimatum mods and keep failing, they’re gonna quit. The current version is not at all casual friendly.

For context, before I stopped Settlers league in PoE1, I averaged just over an hour a day for 3 months. I had a level 100 Hexblast Trickster, crafted all my own gear from bought bases, completed 40/40 challenges and beat all Uber bosses. If my ceiling is get to maps, maybe get to a few bosses and hopefully not die, maybe be able to get all my ascendancy points, and have no real shot of achieving an “end game” build, I probably won’t play.

I'm not sure what kind of experience they want people to have, especially in the late game. If they want to invoke the feelings of the campaign, maybe they should forgo the mapping system and just make a longer game with xpacs that delivers a singleplayer experience with a one time purchase? Who knows, maybe this game looks way different in a few years. But they have been clear they don't want to deliver the experience of POE 1 with better graphics. Customization of player experience is so cool in POE 1, but POE 2 feels like they only want you to play one way. As the game balance and changes come to light in the coming months, it will make a more accurate picture of how exactly they expect you to play the game. My hope is that there is a very precise feel to the campaign and early maps (you are weak, and boss fights feel good when you finally down them), but late game they just let you go crazy with player power, like POE 1 does.
