I have the Chevy Colorado diesel and its awesome. I can get 550 miles(900km) on a tank of diesel and even in Canada where its cold it starts up and heats up fast. Only thing hate is the piss tank(def fluid lol)

+leadnsteel thanks for the comment. that gas mileage is crazy. I wish Toyota would make a better engine for the Tacoma I wouls definitely go with the Chevy product right now. the DEF fluid is annoying stupid EPA.👍

Yeah If the Taco had a diesel I would have gotten that but Chevy was the first. I have a feeling others will make one now. Just hope the Chevy has no problems with the EPA like Chrysler and Volkswagen are having with their diesels.

I get 24 city / 33 highway. Serious. And it does everything smoothly. Love the Colorado - very nice truck.

Nice video of real world info. I've never had a truck and this one looks sweet but debating this over the ram ecodiesel which would give me a full size in a v6 diesel for similar pricing. Any comparison notes you have to offer other than this being a smaller truck for maneuverability and slightly better gas mileage than the 3.0 litre in the ram. How is GM for reliability and cost of ownership ?

+superjat7 thanks for the comment. that's a very good question I haven't owned the Ram EcoDiesel but I do have a good friend that has one and he really likes it he says it gets great fuel economy and Tows awesome. So it really come down to personal preference whether you need the full size or you can live with the mid-size. I think GM quality is typically better then Dodge Chrysler quality. The canyon had great maneuverability I was very impressed with the trailer attached and how easy I was able to turn around. And I also had a very nice ride really comfortable. My friend with his Ram EcoDiesel has the Laramie with the air suspension and it was $60000 dollars. So that's 10 to 15 thousand dollars more then the GMC Canyon Denali. I wish I could give you more insight I'll have to try to get a ram and do a review on it. 👍

You cant buy the ram ecodiesel right now due to ram and epa scandal similar to Volkswagen. There might still be some on the lots right now but they are probably going to get recalled like Volkswagen but hey you might get a nice paycheck out of it lol. My biggest issue with ram is them not offering a locking differential in the rear on the 1500. and in order to get that claimed 29mpg you hear on the commercials you have to get the bare bone 2wd single cab truck. I have the Chevy version of this truck 4 door long box z71 fully equipped. just driving regularly I get 32mpg highway and when I baby it I've gotten has high as 35mpg. If you going to be doing 75% daily driving 25% towing don't waste your money getting the bigger more expensive and less fuel efficient truck. If you will tow regularly I think both are worth a look. I can personally attest that towing a fully loaded double axel uhaul trailer I was still getting 22mpg highway. As far as the cost of ownership goes its not too bad. A full 5.5 gallon tank of dpf lasts for about 7500 miles depending on how you drive. It only takes a little over 6 quarts of oil. The first major service (timing belt replacement) isn't until 150k miles. I cant really say much for reliability other than I haven't personally had any issues so far but according to consumer reports the 2016 Tacoma was by far the most unreliable of all truck classes. Idk where the Chevy falls in there it only gives you the best and worst.

I got the same truck. Lots of problems with it. Your better off going with the Sierra. Or a high country if your planning on towing.

The only downside it has a timing belt it does not bring it chain

I average 22mpg city and roughly 33 highway. I have the 2016 Colorado with the Duramax. GMC makes the truck look so much better though.
