Why I would not recommend buying a Rockford Fosgate PMX-HD9813 digital receiver and Rockford Punch PBR400x4D audio amp; I have a 2006 Harley Electra Glide Ultra Classic converted to a Champion trike in 2008. The stock Harmon Kardon am/fm/cd radio was nice with all the handlebar controls - as long as it worked. The radio didn’t like a hard ride or a bumpy road - stopped working once, long story short I had Iron Cross fix it…and while they had it added Bluetooth and rear channel pre-amp audio outputs ($464.). I reinstalled the radio and within the next 100 miles the radio stopped working again - same problem as before and luckily it was within the Iron Cross warranty…they fixed it no charge (bad solder joint they say). When installing it for the second time I replaced all 4 speakers with Hogtunes XL 352 model. Nothing was wrong with the OEM stock speakers other then they lacked bass. The Hogtunes weren’t too much better bass wise, but did have a slightly crisper sound. The volume needed to be turned up to the 30 mark to hear music at highway speed (stock mufflers). A couple years later the front panel on the Harmon Kardon started shorting out and end up not lighting the front panel at all which made the unit almost worthless. The Iron Cross warrantee was up and considering how old the unit was I decided to replace with a Rockford Fosgate PMX-HD9813 = $589.99 and installed it myself. Most of the handlebar controls still worked but not the increased volume as the road/engine noise increased. Sound wise it was a little louder, but not much and to my disappointment, no better bass. At highway speed the volume still had to be around the 30 range to hear anything - and it wasn’t that much better than with the OEM. So, I ordered the Rockford 4 channel Punch PBR400x4D audio amp ($292.), installed it and was disappointed again. The bass was no better, the highs may have been a little higher and the overall volume did increase but only 10-20% at tops. Now with the volume control at 30 I can finally hear the music at highway speeds, but with no bass. I had checked the polarity of each speaker, and tried different speakers, some home audio JBLs…with still no bass. Apparently what I need is a sub-woofer and another amp. similar to what I have in my GMC pick-up. As far as the hard ride went… I replaced the rear air shocks with a pair of twin-adjustable Bitubo 5100 and rebuilt the front fork. What I didn’t do was listen to the Rockford Fosgate radio in person before deciding what to buy. I was unable to find a local dealer that carried this at that time. And why the trike conversion? I’m handicapped and in my 70’s. Overall - disappointed in the Rockford Fosgate products. If you’re considering a radio/stereo upgrade for your Harley I would strongly recommend you go hear the brand and model numbers you’re considering before spending your time and money. The install wasn’t that difficult, just took time.

Does this work also for the cvo models
@rockfordfosgate Жыл бұрын
We don't have compatibility for CVO models due to the extensive wiring harness difference between CVO models from 1998 thru 2013. Due to the changes in harnesses, the PMX-HD9813 is not compatible with factory amplified systems, CB, Intercom, or rear volume controls.

If you're using the speaker outputs, be sure the Internal Amplifier is turned on: 1) Access the Source Unit’s settings by pressing and holding the MENU button. 2) Access the AUDIO settings by pressing the AUDIO option from the MENU screen. 3) Press to access the INTERNAL AMPLIFIER options. Use the rotary encoder to select options (ON > OFF). When using an amplifier to power your speakers, select OFF. If you are powering your speakers directly from the source unit, select the INTERNAL AMPLIFIER to ON. @rockfordfosgate6 ай бұрын
Hi @clintogle538 , you shouldn't need to replace any fuses in the electrical system. This radio is designed to work with the existing factory electrical system and fusing. If you're using aftermarket amplifiers, they are most likely have dedicated B+ and GND wires connecting directly to the battery with their own fusing.

@rockfordfosgate5 жыл бұрын
Hi rage warrior, source units are getting harder to swap out in mobile audio applications due to their tight integration with the electrical systems, including lighting, alarm, navigation and A/C controls. Because of this, Rockford Fosgate has focused on integration solutions like our DSR1 digital signal router co-developed with iDatatech Maestro. The DSR1 allows you to add aftermarket amplifiers, speakers, and subwoofers while retaining the factory source unit. The DSR1 is a cost effective $269 solution and simply integrates using a T-harness and downloadable vehicle specific firmware to enable integration without the loss of factory equipped controls and features. Once connected, complete control of the sound profile can be adjusted using the 3Sixty Perfect Tune software. You can learn more about the challenges that installers face with factory systems here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aofGp5RmobySbKM
