PNTC 2018 Best In The West Friday Tailgate

Pacific Northwest tool collectors has a meeting every two years called the best in the West. A huge collection of tools for sale somewhere on the west coast. This year it is in Portland Oregon. This is the outside tailgating that happens on Friday morning period a great place to buy tools at a great price. I'm walking through the whole tool display to show what is for sale.

I think the "ruler" is for measuring the height of a tree while it is still standing. You stand a certain distance away from the tree, hold the stick out at arms length and sight to the top of the tree.

James, you had your eye on a thinner scrub plane. I bought the veratas version. I think they are uncontrollably aggressive, and more difficult to sharpen then a modified No5. If you pick one up, I'd be interested in hearing your critique. Maybe I'm just using it wrong. Good video.

Yes they can be a lot more aggressive, but that is what makes them good. Not as good on the harder woods, but on Walnut and softer they can remove alot very quickly.

There are several up and down the coast look up MWTCA.org there are a ton of options in the north east.

I Didn't go to this year's tool collector meeting bc I feel like I've built up a respectable collection and didn't see the need to expand it... five minutes into this video I've come to seriously regret this decision... ಠ___ಠ
