Thanks Brian! Timestamps: 1. Fixed vs Growth - If you think you cannot, because you were born w/o what's needed, then you won't vs If I try, and am willing to work hard on improving, I'll have a chance - 0:50 2. Effort is Good - A fixed mindset doesn't consider effort, because her fate is already set, whereas a growth one knows it's a matter of practice/effort and time to hit her goal - 2:28 3. Genius is Made (Not Born) - Even top level scientists, musicians, and athletes (aside from their natural skills) had to work very hard to get to the level they reached - 4:14 4. Feeling Depressed? - Look at the mindset you have at that moment - Analyze the root causes that led you to feel that way. Then try to find a way to modify it by changing the environment you are in - 6:00 5. Embrace Failures! - Understand that is only by failing over and over that you are going to get better. Learn from those mistakes/failures to not making them next time you try - Dear to leave your comfort zone - 7:55

One of my favourite visual artists is a guy called Anthony Jones. Growing up, he was the kid in class that was good at music. In his early twenties, he was a plumber. At the age of 23, he got sick of the direction his life was heading, and began studying art for 14 hours a day. Within a year, he got his first job, and six years later, he's one of the best concept artists out there. Not sure if his mindset was growth or stubbornness, maybe a little of both.

Life changing book for sure. If I had to suggest only 5 books for a person to read in their lifetime, this would be one of them! What I found is that it's easy to intellectually understand the growth mindset but it takes a lot of effort to internalize it in certain areas of life. Thanks

I found out about Dweck and the fixed vs growth mindset in a book called Bounce by Matthew Syed. I'm getting this book soon. It's definitely one of the most thought-provoking subjects I've come across in a long time. Btw, thanks so much for doing these! I can tell you put a lot of effort into these. Here's to growth!

Really nice summary! The one thing you can do that will dramatically improve your video is to use a lavalier mic -- audio quality makes a huge difference in audience experience and perception of production.

I read the book and I have to say, your ten minutes summary was much more enjoyable than the book itself. I mean Carol's ideas are awesome, but the book was just too repetitive and long-winded. Not like your video :) You are amazing Brian, thanks for your effort that you put into making these videos!

M.Jordan tried out for the varsity basketball team during his sophomore year and not his freshman year at Laney (N.C.) High School , but at 5'11" (1.80 m), he was deemed too short to play at that level when he was cut from the team.

Another Jordan myth perpetuated. Did he get cut his freshman year? Yes. But here’s what NOBODY EVER TELLS YOU - he got cut from the VARSITY squad as a freshman. However, he still played up a level on the sophomore team. If you’re going to give examples, at least be honest and don’t mislead with half-truths.
