In this video i show you how to slice samples on the K.O! aka The P0-33. This to me is one of the fastest and easiest ways to chop samples on the PO-33 and this video shows you how to make a beat in minutes! I love these pocket operators by teenage engineering. They're so powerful!

Thanks so much for the video - I really enjoy this melodic engine to percussion hack you've taught here. One of the things I have been trying to do is actually get assorted drums sounds from logic onto the po-33 this way by first setting up 16 drum sounds equally spaced out and recording the whole thing into a melodic track then moving it over. Unfortunately I am having some issues where some drum sounds are stretching into the next drum sound e.g. a crash sound. Do you have any tips to get past this issue? Thanks again!

Hey Ricky. I've been playing thrash and heavy metal guitar for 20+ years but along the way have fallen in love with ambient, electronica and hip hop. It's opened so much of a new world of music to me over the past few years that I've finally taken the plunge and bought a microfreak and a PO rhythm and K.O. Your tutorials have been so helpful I just wanted to let you know as there will be so many other artists out there who without tutorials like these just wont take that next step. Thanks again man

Just a note: You mention that if you put a sample in the melodic section you can play it chromatically across the buttons. It's not actually the chromatic scale though, it's a minor/harmonic minor scale. I was confused at first using it for that purpose

This is so awesome, thank you for sharing. I just picked up the PO-137 and 138. I never understood not only that you could take the melodic and split it as a drum track, but also that you could multi chain the pattern. I knew I could be like 1 - 4 - 5 I didn't know I could be like 11-4-11-33-45 etc. I really appreciate you posting this. I also love the drum pattern on this. Thanks!

Can I simply play something on 5, 7 or 11 and loop it? It is problematic to make quick backing tracks on po sequencers because if you want play something different than 4, 8 or 16 You must use many banks to create it. You cant cut sequencer to repeat 15 slots for example.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm having trouble copying and pasting the same way you are doing, a recorded sample from melodic to drum track. Only some times is it slicing it equally and allowing me to play the newly copied sound across the 16 keys. Some times it is only allowing me to play the full sample on the drum track and the rest of the tracks are silent. Is there something I am doing wrong?
