Oh jeez, this is way more involved than I thought it would be.

Thanks for posting this. I just did this job. Worst part is that the sensor bolts are really tight and it's hard to get a direct line to the bottom bolt due to the engine mount being in the way. I ended up using a deep 10mm socket on a long extension and was able to get enough of a bite on it to break it loose. Everything else is straight forward and it took care of my surging idle issue.

This is an accurate video of what you have to do to get at the cam sensor. Only thing that gave me a bit of trouble was getting the top bolt out that holds in the sensor. I had to grind down the wall thickness just a bit on a 1/4" shallow 10mm socket, otherwise it wouldn't go on the bolt head because it was too close to the cam gear. A 1/4" universal helped as well.

It is accurate but difficult to understand.

I was able to get it out without grinding the socket, took a 10mm long barrel socket and two extenders to get a straight line far enough to torque it.

Thanks for an accurate description on how to remove and replace a camshaft sensor. It'll definitely help me tomorrow when I perform the task.

That little hose to the left of your hand at 1:16 needs to have hose clamps on it or it will pop off and cause a massive vacuum leak. Ask me how I know.

Does an eighth valve Chevrolet Kalos 2005 have a camshaft position sensor at that place too?

The camshaft position sensor fault is almost never caused by a faulty camshaft sensor. It is usually a fuel pump starting to go bad. If the car is a little hard to start, then it's either the fuel pump or a bad injector allowing the fuel pressure to bleed off. It can also be caused by improper sparkplug gaps. If it is a little hard to start then try turning the key to on without starting the engine and count to five then turn the key off and immediately start the engine. If it starts right up without any hesitation then check the fuel pump.

But what if OBDII gives u the code P0340 could it still be the fuel pump or something?

@@Savuhh My Code Ready ONLY threw a p034 Cam position sensor. When I went to change it the Timing Belt had Snapped. So it can throw that code for other things also.

I had time looking for a video like that. I never found it. Until I analyzed and saw how the sensor was removed

My engine code is P0340. However it just started yesterday. Should I go to a mechanic for an inspection?

@@axxisblack I didn't need to have it repaired at the time and now it is about a year later. Vehicle is now needing that repair.

Got a p034 Cam position sensor code. and car stalled out on the freeway. When I went to change it the Timing Belt had Snapped. so just because its that code doesn't mean its exactly that issue. Whenever its a sensor I TRY to remember to look at everything Leading up to that sensor. Ive had vacuum leaks through major sensor codes, But some duct tape fixed it to get it to the store for a $5 dollar hose instead of a way more expensive sensor.

I JUST got through with this using this video as a guide and i can confirm that, especially without a socket wrench, this is a bitch and a half. Plan on over an hour

How about the exhaust sensor? I have a 2011 Chevy Aveo. One guy said the left passenger side. The other guy said that the exhaust is on the right driver side. Maybe it could be the fuel pump going like the guy below said... Oh well time will tell. I guess I'm never going to get to retire just keep working to fix my car 🥺😵💫🤪

Use OEM sensor or you'll probably be doing this same work again in 2 years or less.
