POACHER tries to ASSAULT ME (GONE WRONG)

Last light fishing was ruin due to this incident. I nicely told them before I recorded to release the pink(Closed for retention) which was snagged and they have been caught poaching before such as wild coho which are protected. I gave them several chances to release it and told them I won't report it or tell anyone. They refused to do so. I secretly filmed so I can protect myself and have the evidence. They snagged quite a lot of fish "jigging" lucky it was just one pink they "landed". Poaching is not cool. Lets respect the fishery so we can all enjoy and protect our fish.

Just remember it’s not your job to enforce the law. Nicely Explain the rules to people once and if they don’t listen than report them. It’s not worth getting hit by a rock over a fish. Or maybe something worse could happen if you bother some crazy people. Stay safe

These fish belong to all of us in a very real way. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't stand up for what's right. I would never encourage people to put their own safety at risk, but at the same time, if nobody speaks up, nothing will ever change. I get the same sort of comments you have had here : "you're not the DFO, mind your own business", well if everybody did nothing we'd have total anarchy on this river and in a few years the salmon would be gone.

I doubt that they are Ukrainians (because women mentioned that she knows Ukrainian but then she talked to guy in Russian) but if that is true - I apologise to you. I am Ukrainian and its unthinkable behaviour. I hope authorities will find out who they are and it will not get away from them.

Really appreciate that you gave them a chance and also told them the regulations!! I unfortunately was fishing when pinks were closed and honestly didn't even know but instead of someone educating me, they called the DFO. So I truly appreciate someone that's willing to educate others on the confusing regulations BC comes out with.

I applaud your patience with these individuals. As someone who has fished the Chwk/Vedder river system for 40+ years, I can guarantee that it would’ve ended poorly for them if another one of us locals was in you position.
