This is the best pattern I have seen for a pocket shawl. The stitch is easy. I like the pockets having the ribbing and Also the idea of a button. It will keep the pockets from sagging or stretching out. I like the idea of working the width instead of the length. Seems like it would go faster. Love it......Thanks so much.

Great! You would want to widen your scarf so that it drapes along your arms more. So if you are starting your chain with the shorter side , you’ll want to make it longer to make the width wider. If you decide to start your chain with the longest side , then you’ll just keep crocheting rows until It covers yours your arms the way you like . 💕

Hi I am a new subscriber just found you this morning. Love how you describe and show your pocket shawl. Definitely going to try this one. I have been looking at a lot of different patterns for this shawl I want a pattern that is quick and easy as fall is approaching very fast here in Nova Scotia Canada. I would like to keep a couple of these handy for taking my little pug Oscar in and out for his duties in the mornings and evenings LOL. As the weather is now getting chilly at these times. Would it be possible to add a hoodie to the top of this pocket Shawl?
@PlayHookywithMe4 жыл бұрын
I’m so happy that you like this pattern! Yes you absolutely could add a hood to this. You may have to make the shawl itself longer since you will want it to go up to your head . You’d essentially put it on your head instead of your shoulder as you’re building it to monitor the length. Then attach another rectangle of stitches to this area on your head to make the back of the hood . I wish I could add a diagram to this message. I think I’m making it sound confusing. Sorry about that. Try searching (google) hooded scarf and hooded shawl. You should see a couple of diagrams that will help you visualize this. Enjoy your walks with your lovely pug! I have the same plan with my dog too 👏🏻🙌🏻💕 thank you for the lovely feedback
@PlayHookywithMe4 жыл бұрын
I’m thinking more about this and you could also just possibly add a big rectangle to the original pattern (not lengthening to reach the head - I’d have to play with it and see but it’s an excellent idea!! 👏🏻
@Debbie20044 жыл бұрын
@@PlayHookywithMe I have been thinking more about this as well LOL and I think a good idea would be to make the hoodie separate and you could just add it on to the shawl with buttons. That way on days that you don't want the hoodie it is removable. What do you think LOL

I love the way this looks and really want to make this. I love your tutorial on the pocket, but I am unclear on how to do the shawl. Is it chain 150 and do the same as what you described for the pocket? Then you make is 19 inches? And do you put that edging on the whole shawl? I am unsure of what to do.
@PlayHookywithMe4 жыл бұрын
Thank you ! I’m sorry if it was confusing. Please refer back to 1:56 and 2:33 for how I described the measurements of the shawl as well as the tips. Time stamps are in the description box. I did not add an edging to the shawl. I began with the shorter side (19 inches) and continued to crochet until I reached the 57 inches for the length. For my yarn, I chained 44 to get 19 inches. You can either start with the chain 44 or the 150 . It will change the direction of your v stitch if you go the longer way . The 19 inch makes the v stitch align with the pocket. I hope this makes sense. If not, let me know or feel free to reach me over on private messaging on instagram to discuss more. xx

Hi I'm new to your channel. I live in the UK, would your yarn be equal to our Aran or chunky wool please? I'm a beginner at crochet
@PlayHookywithMe4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris - this yarn that I used was right in the middle of a chunky and Aran but technically it was the same weight as a bulky (yarn weight 6) . The aran brand here in the U.S has a yarn weight of 5 on the label. The yarn I chose recommended an 8 mm hook . I used a 6.5 mm but that was just because it was easier on my wrist than the 8mm that I had. You can use either type (Aran or chunky) you might just have to add some more rows and chains (or less ) to reach your desired length. If I’ve confused you , I would recommend a chunky to get closer to what I used. Hope this helps ! Xx
