Hey just wanna say thank you for being my inspiration. I am currently in my last semester of uni, finishing in July (hello from Australia) and my stress level is waaaaay too high at the moment like you lol. Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I would watch your video to remind myself of what am I doing this for. I want to be a teacher who is as passionate as you. 8 more weeks and 5 weeks of teaching placement and hopefully I would be doing what I always wanted to do :) Thank you!

Thank you for doing this channel. I'm enjoying your videos. You have such great ideas. As a teacher with a mental illness, I so appreciate you talking about the importance of taking a mental health day when feeling stressed. It's actually something I've never done before. Unfortunately I've always waited until I'm very sick to take a day(s) off mostly due to the amount of prep required for the sub. I will be getting your sub template from tpt. Thanks again. You are sweet!

I absolutely support mental health days. I too need to file my taxes. I taught some CPR classes outside of work and was told I would get a form for that to file with my taxes. So I waited all of January and February for it to come. Got in touch with their accountant to find out I won't be getting a form after all. So now I feel really behind because I usually file taxes in february.

Hi! So happy you took a mental health day. It's terrible that we feel guilty for taking them, but we honestly need them so much. I, too, dread prepping for a sub because I am very detailed with my plans and like to leave things laid out ready for them to go.

Can you do a video about dealing with difficult parents? I’m teaching 5th grade and I weekly or even daily am dealing with rude parent emails and sometimes calls to my admin. I’ve been so discouraged! How do you deal?
@mlmj1994
@mlmj1994 6 жыл бұрын
Sarah C I teach 5th grade too and have had a lot of those recently. 9 parents went to my admin on the same day but I have documentation of their crazy af kids. If the email is too much don’t respond right away I just forward to admin. If a parent wants to meet (and is sending unfriendly emails) request to admin that you would like one of them there. I have a parent that sends rude emails but when we meet in person they act all peachy but go back to aggressive emails. I’ll probably start sending home a daily behavior calendar sheet in the last quarter. Some fifth grade classes just need it more than others.

Marissa You are doing all the right things! 😀 I am a Paraprofessional looking to become an elementary school teacher this fall. With the students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, I keep a notepad I use to document behaviors. It most definitely helps when it comes to meeting with parents. I will definitely continue doing this when I transition into my first year of teaching.

Just wanted to pass along the info.... I saw where you are learning about circuits.....Lyrics2Learn has free trials you can sign up for and they have a really catchy circuits reading fluency passage that is basically a rap. It talks about the differences between parallel and series circuits....Just wanted to pass along some knowledge! Would love to spend a day in your classroom to see how fun I can tell it is! God Bless!

I love your videos! I know you're super busy so you might never see this comment, but I just wanted to say I have the same issues with stress. I spend so much time thinking about what I need to get done, that I don't actually end up doing anything. (Or I barely make it through the task I'm trying to do and it takes forever.) Lately, I've found that practicing mindfulness skills has really helped! When my mind starts to wander, I can use mindfulness to pull myself back in. It's helped me sooo much! If you're interested in learning more about how to be mindful/how it can help you when you're stressed, check out the Calm app. Also, your work ethic is so inspiring! :)

How much planning time do you normally get per week? Just curious as a fellow teacher. I'm Canadian but working in the UK at the moment, and from what I've researched, teachers in the UK are supposed to get around 10% of planning time in comparison to the amount of time they are actually teaching. So if you are teaching 25 hours per week, you are entitled to 2.5 hours of prep during school hours. This is for primary.

Great video, thanks for sharing! Quick question: who paid for all of the science materials (e.g. wires, batteries, etc.)? You'd mentioned in a prior video that you work at a Title1 school so I was curious whether you paid for these materials out of pocket or whether the school had allocated funding for this. Thanks!

I’m a teacher from the UK and I’m just wondering can you just take days off when you want to? Cos she mentioned about taking a day off. In the UK you can’t do that unless you are ill or have permission for a circumstance you can’t change eg someone else’s wedding. All your days off have to be in the school holidays. Maybe I should move to America 😂

+Pocketful of Primary My Queen Ms. Michelle Ferre , Let me put it like this . Back in my days when I was an autistic student in special ed classes in school specifically in the grade level of classrooms I have been in that you teach in or have taught in I've had my struggling days with my teacher in the classroom with me whereas Your students have a struggling day without you in the classroom with them because they enjoy you and your techniques and educational fun strategies and your , well the list is a little long however give or take they are also accustomed to you and what you do and they are not used to having to function without you so as much as I will say you have to take care of you in order to properly be there for your students part of that is getting them accustomed to you not being there among them rarely . See where I am going with this ? With that said everybody will have even a few bad days in school whether you are student or staff . It's just comes a part of the territory especially in these times when anticipation for spring break and end of the year is in the air and the effects of the changing of seasons but when this happens take a reflection moment in what and where you were before this and then keep in mind the reception you get from your students today when you are in your classroom and they come around to you like they do and remember the difference in improvement because based on these videos I see a WHOLE lot more positive days than I do negative days so I say keep that positivity that you have with your students because it not only makes my reflective times less emotional and easier to have but it also brings to mind the things and the ones who I wish I had in my times . Keep your head up beautiful . You and Your Students will overcome . - Dwight
