Regarding the SPHL playoff format, is actually how the current system is in the SHL works and as you mentioned the teams who get to choose tend to choose the teams they have the best record against.

I think a big part why hockey did poorly in Houston during the late 70s was due to the oil market crashing. This hurt Houston as a whole and the state entering the 80s was suffering economically. This is why we lost the Houston Oilers even though they left early 90s. The economy was not there at the time. Now Houston has diversified its industries compared to the 70s-80s. The region is also looked as the most diverse group of people in America. A city that has one of the largest greater regions in the country will be able to hold a hockey team now, with the right advertising there is no question it can work!

In the SHL the top 3 teams pick the team they wanna play as well. I remember when my team Luleå finished first in league 11/12 and they choosed to play AIK who finished 7th. Then we lost the series 4 - 1 :/

Now the full story with the Houston thing. Is the former owner of the Houston Rockets pretty much kicked the Aeros out of his arena didn't want them playing there, and that why they left. This new guy took over after the other guy sold the team this off season, so that was in his like first day interview.

I think you know this already but the Houston Aeros were also an AHL team there until 2011, they moved to Des Moines Iowa

For the SPHL playoff challenge round selection, #1 Peoria picked #8 Roanoke... I was expecting them to pick Knoxville(#5) or at least someone else besides the last team. Game 1 went 3-2 Peoria, and then game 2 was 4-1 Peoria.

Post2Post I’m a Norfolk Admirals fan and my dad has a collector’s puck from the 2003 Calder Cup Playoffs. Norfolk was playing Houston. We finally got our first Calder Cup in 2012, 3 years before they sent the team back to the ECHL.

You will not believe this. Malcolm Subban placed on IR and out for four weeks. About the Colorado thing, I don't care how it happens, if they make the right call I'm fine with it. As far as Houston getting an NHL team, I'm not necessarily against it, but I feel there are so many more deserving markets out there (Quebec City, Seattle, etc.)
