Having a B.S. in Elementry Education, I can say that misspelling of basic and sight (occur most often) words is shows a deep understanding of phonetics and letter-sound rules of the words. Instead of just using a different word and attempting to spell it correctly shows that deep understanding. It shows us what rules and sounds are used that you know and they know which ones you don't know yet. It all informs the lesson unit and where it goes from there. So misspelling words is evidence of learning and understanding.

Cute kid story. When was 7 I asked Santy (Santa in Ireland) for the "thing the weather man had," which baffled Santy. I got lots of great stuff, a godzilla puppet i think but not the thing the weather man had. My parents asked me shortly after christmas what i meant in my letter. Turned out it was the tv weather man's button which he used to change the slide on the report. I thought it would change the weather and help my parents as they were always complaining about the rain. 😂
