I put frozen riced cauliflower into my smoothies. It adds almost no flavor, is cold so I don't need ice, it adds fiber, vegetable nutrition, and it thickens my smoothies. Someone who doesn't like vegetables could put some in a banana smoothie with unsweetened shredded coconut, and ground up walnuts and plain kefir or plain yogurt.

I just finished this pod cast and you are ending it by saying “I hope it makes a big difference in your life” and I want to say that you have made a big difference in my life!! I’ve been making my own kefir for a couple years now and today just finished my first L. Reuteri culture. I did mine in an 8 qt instant pot pro but used 8 cups water in the pot for a bath. After 2 days of experimenting with jars of water trying it both dry and w/ water in the pot I came up with a real consistent 100 degree ferment by having both the milk and the bath at 95 degree to start the ferment and then custom setting the yogurt setting to 99 degrees and then 36 hours. Whew!!! So excited to now try the smoothie with both kefir and the L. Reuteri. I’ve been sprouting broccoli seeds for a couple years and I add them to my smoothie too…an acquired taste to be sure! Thanks much Donna for everything you are doing!!!

🎉Stephen, did you read Christine Litvak’s comment? She says she adds frozen riced cauliflower as well as unsweetened coconuts and walnuts. I personally have not tried it yet, but definitely plan to try it because it’s so unusual. She used ground nuts, so if you don’t have a high power blender be sure to buy them already pulverized.

Hi Donna, I love your podcasts. I live across the pond. Could you do a podcast about the potential benefits of kefir and L Reuteri in dental health, and teeth remineralisation...? I note that L Reuteri is in quite a lot of dental lozenges... I have bad teeths, bad gums etc. I would love to hear your input about dental health. Hello Donna, I follow A keto lifestyle. I also follow Indigo Nili and she mentioned L. Reuteri yogurt, I was interested So I followed a link for the recipe and it brought me to you. This weekend I made my 1st batch of L. Reuteri fermented milk. Mine was “fortunately” an easy success using a Brod & Taylor Proofer (which was not being used because I quit making bread) Whew!! I jumped right in with 3 quarts. Today I made a milk kefir (I been making that for a long time) L. Reuteri and blueberry smoothie. Oh my, oh my I love it. I can’t thank you enough for posting this video and turning me on to this wonderful drink. I’m already addicted and can’t wait for tomorrow’s portion. Your new friend, Joyce

I have a question , how do you make L.Reuteri kefir , I make the L.Reuteri yougurt but I would like to see a kefir version of the same . I understand the fermentation is for 36 h at 105F , is that ok for kefir ?

I made kefir for the first time and over-fermented it and it was still great. I was happy to have less sugar. But my unpasteurized milk was so expensive.

Do I have to make the yogurt? Can I take the L Reuteri supplement instead? Or can I just add some of the L Reuteri starter to my kefir? I already make kefir, kombucha and cultured veggies.

Aloha Donna, I’m also mixing L Reuteri yogurt & Kefir over blueberries daily. I make L Reuteri, Kefir Smoothie, with red powder mix, berries, & “a big scoop of Maui, hehe”. ***I’ve been adding a couple of scoops of my L Reuteri & SIBO yogurts to my kefir grains before pouring in organic half & half, or A2 milk, in hopes of increasing L Reuteri & Mixed SIBO bacteria, within my Kefir Grains. I have no way of measuring bacreria’s in my Kefir Grains, but the 2-4 spoonful’s of yogurt sure makes the Kefir thicker & creamer……..

I found the Instant Pot the best, it has a SouVide setting that allows for 36 hours at the exact temperature 100F.

I bought a Bear brand yogurt maker on Amazon, $40. Only drawback: its timer can only be set for 20 hrs at a time! No big deal, & it makes delicious L reuteri yogurt! I use Aldi’s organic half & half & inulin powder made from chicory (also from Amazon). Started with 10 capsules of Super Smart brand L Reuteri. First batch separates but after that, very smooth & creamy!

@@DANA-pp4cg I am trying different things to add to kefir. This morning it was one very small apple and frozen blueberries. Because the taste of yeast is strong to me, I also put in apple pie spice, ginger, and 10 blend mushroom powder. All it tasted like was a fruit smoothie. I used mushroom powder in my coffee and it ruined the flavor. I find this is a much better way to sneak it in.

Hello Donna I’m making this smoothie but I was reading the yogurt starter packet and says it can’t be blended or the bacteria will die. Is this true ?

Some may die but there are MILLIONS in a cup of kefir so it will still be FULL of probiotics. Don't worry about it.

Hi Donna, I've been following you for awhile now and enjoying my Kefir as my first food in daily intermittent fasting and as my last food in the evening. I usually mix some Blackberries and Strawberries with the 6 oz portions of Kefir. I think I'm consuming too much fruit with the added sugar in fruit. I choose Strawberries and Blackberries because they are generally lower in sugar, but still, probably more fruit each day than I should consume. Do you have any suggestions of something else I could eat with my Kefir that would have less sugar? The fruit does add sweetness which is what I'm liking about adding fruit, I'm guessing. Maybe just a short squirt of liquid Stevia would take away some of the sourness and make it a little more enjoyable. I don't mind the sour taste a little, just want something else to be there. I've thought maybe add a vegetable like Cucumber or Jicama, then with a little Stevia. Any Thoughts?

Do a second ferment with lemon zest....no added sugar and it gives a nice lemon essence! Donna talks about second ferments ....she does the lemon!

I take out starter for the next batch as soon as it cools and put it in the freezer. Freezing does not hurt the bacteria.

PLEASE CONSIDER reformulating your L. reuteri starter product. Please change the prebiotic, use PHGG as the prebiotic because it’s the one least likely to feed SIBO. A lot of us with gut problems need to avoid FOS.

@@lisajurraro Look up Dr Eric Berg on KZbin. He has easy to understand videos on all sort of health topics. He is not an MD, but a chiropractor, so he will not steer you to pharmaceuticals. His methods treat the underlying cause, not just symptoms.

Since you allowed me to step up my game maybe I can offer you putting a good gelatin in your smoothie instead or just eating more high quality beef/or bone broth, I don't really trust collagen, I've taken a few on their own in the past and they did nothing for me, plus I've heard they're easy to add filler and can be extremely oxidized . Maybe you use a good one though.

You really should read “Toxic Superfoods” which explains the oxalate damage you’re doing by adding fruits (especially raspberries) to your smoothies. 😮

I sure wish the L Reuteri yogurt tasted better. Smells like stinky feet and strong parmesan. I can't eat it. I made it according to directions, the first time and the second time. I won't make it again, a waste of good half n half.

@itsmy party, I think I might have a solution for you about too much talking. I am a chatterbox, yet I can get impatient with other people who give details that don’t interest me. Since this is a video, tap the settings button to increase the speed. I believe mine is at 1.75. It goes rather fast, but still understandable.
