Hey Steffen! I have mixed feelings about Anchor. While you can technically run a your entire podcast from there (and they DO host your podcast), I strangely don't consider them a podcast host--more of an overall platform. Still, if you're really just in it to record from your phone quickly and put stuff out there (with little control over everything else), then Anchor is great.

It depends on what you mean by that--and it also depends on which platform you mean :) Example: Redcircle offers a 1-click distribution to Spotify and Google Podcasts. I put Anchor in a class all it's own, as it's more of a creation app that also happens to host your show. I don't recommend it for 99% of podcasters. SEO = not related to podcast hosting generally, though some sites (including Redcircle) do offer podcast websites automatically (Podbean and Libsyn do as well, and it's roughly the same)

@@DoYouEvenBlog I see you've said this quite a few times. Could you elaborate a bit as to what you mean when you say Anchor is a creation "app"? I used Anchor for a month or so for a different podcast than the one I host on Red Circle, and I never even used the app, only the website. Additionally, Anchor was not a "creation" app. They did not create any content for me (it'd be nice if they did, lol) in the same way Red Circle doesn't create your episodes; you upload your premade episodes to both platforms. This is the first time I've really heard Anchor portrayed as something other than a host, and maybe you know something behind the scenes about it that I don't, but as far as the user interface, it's very much a competitive podcast host. (If you don't believe me, a Google Search of "podcast host" will show Anchor as the very first result, then Buzzsprout, then Libsyn) --Just a thought :)

Great video, thanks! Another factor of consideration that you didn't mention is podcast integration with a WordPress blog/site. I know Buzzsprout has a great plugin for WP. Are you aware of anything comparable with RedCircle that would enable it to be playable through a page on a WP site? I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

I just embed mine like I've always done (but you can also probably utilize podcast player plugins/tools like Smart Podcast Player (Fusebox), etc. The Redcircle embed looks just fine for my tastes :) Here's their documentation on it. Fusebox is NOT a host. It works with/integrates with your podcast host (frankly I'm not sure how. haven't seen it in action!) Might have to give it a try.

But if I wanted to migrate to a different host, what happens with my files on Podbean's servers? Do they get moved to Red Circle's servers? Do I have to re-upload those old episodes to RC's servers? Good Q Richie. Short answer: Nope! Long answer: I think the internet is taking over blog posts. More and more ads, social media, and other distracting stuff = people spend less time reading blogs in general. Podcasts just happen to a format that is LESS affected by all that, as we're generally doing *other stuff* while we're listening, like running, commuting, etc. I think there's more opportunity in podcasting right now, but it's not necessarily fighting against blogs :)

Hybrid do both they can piggyback off of each other and if you are not doing video transcribe the blogs and post them on KZbin in video form it's an app I believe called Headliner that can help you out your essentially killing 3 birds with one stone lol..

It's honestly going to be really close until your podcast has grown to 50k downloads/month+ (and then you won't need their built-in monetization features at all). I wouldn't suggest choosing a host based on monetization--especially when their offerings are changing so quickly (even few months seems like it brings more updates/changes).
