🎙🎙Start Podcasting FOR FREE with nothing but Your PHONE. (iPhone or Android)
Our audio engineer Studio Steve didn't think it was possible to do it and get any kind of good results.
After I commissioned him to give Anchor a try on my iPhone. He was surprised by how good it can actually sound. (That is if you do it right). Watch through the end of the video. We start from scratch and record a podcast from start to finish, create the cover art, publish the episode, and submit it to the podcast directories. We even watch it go LIVE on SPOTIFY!!!

Could you use audacity to edit the other peaks that need to be removed and then readd it back inside anchor app?
@podsoundschool
@podsoundschool 4 жыл бұрын
GREAT Question. Yes, absolutely. You can also use Pro Tools | First (which is free) or Reaper. That's definitely a better way to go about it. And it's also better just to record into Pro Tools First or Reaper and to export the final (entire) episode as one file and use that as your episode. And when you're really ready to start cookin' then you get a mic and an audio interface and some nice headphones.

Hello @@podsoundschool thank you for checking back. Yes, I finally signed up, did an introduction, and a topic synopsis. I also received notice of a sponsor too. I have not done much with it after the synopsis because I am so busy with my other projects. So, since I cannot be consistent with podcasting, I did inform my audience of that. I am also trying to add time on my schedule for it. Moreover, I am still learning how to upload my podcast to my website. Do you have a video on how to upload Anchor episodes to blogs? Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I just launched a podcast --- mostly scripted. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone to that end. Podcasting is just another media art form, so I wouldn't get bogged down with hard and fast rules about being "authentic." Scripted or on the fly, the bottom line is getting to share your creative voice with the world. So, use what equipment you have and happy podcasting! :)

From one beginner to others: Anchor has updated their app to where you can now edit within the clips, so you can trim out bad chunks. You can also edit on desktop which makes it much easier. Audacity is a solid free software for additional basic sound editing like noise reduction, compression and raising volume. Beginner tip- do some sound tests and listen through with headphones in a quiet space before committing to recording a full segment. Pops and plosives are extremely hard to fix after the fact without advanced software! (And possibly A LOT of time, depending on the issues.) I also found the sound to vary between earphones (wired) vs earbuds (wireless) when listening back. UPDATING TO ADD: Compare against an existing similar podcast for volume. I didn’t realize how extremely quiet mine was until i published!

Guys, thank you so much. I'm really thinking of starting a Podcast and I'm so glad that I've found this video. One of the best and so easy to understand. Especially for me that I'm not too tech savvy. I currently have a FB page doing videos but it's such a hassle because with the videos, the lighting has to be right, my make up and hair have to be right, the setting and background have to be right, etc. Many times I have my topic ready but just the thought of dressing up, putting make-up, especially now with COVID that we've been cooped up inside has gotten to be too much. I like the idea of just talking without being seeing. I love the expression on Veronica's face, that's how mine is also. From a Latina to Another, super excited!! Gracias y bendiciones

This is wonderful! I just started my trailer on my podcast on Anchor, and when I recorded my trailer (which was scripted) and did a slight horrible job when speaking through the phone. But after watching this video I can start my first episode with confidence! Edit; and for once all the podcast are not scripted and I can be a free for all!!

Great video... 1 question - What about interviews? How would you do a podcast where you're interviewing someone/two people speaking at the same time? Especially if the person that you're interviewing is a call-in and not there physically with you? I'd really like to do phone interviews and incorporate those. Please advise - Thanks!

This was a very informative video, straight to the point and even helpful tips with Canva pic editing. I’vebeen thinking about starting a podcast where I review some of my favorite shows. This gave me all the info I needed about signing up with anchor, creating an intro and ending. Ai found this very helpful. I’m looking to purchase some equipment to make it a bit easier. From watching you hold the phone and talk, I can see why people often use the angled microphone that attaches to the desk. I’ll check more of your episodes to see if you discuss equipment and additional audio editing. I’m glad you mentioned that little tidbit about not being able to edit in the middle of the episode. Thank you times two! I really needed this info to help me get started. I will certainly share this with my daughter who is also interested in starting a podcast.

Thanks for the tips! How would you reduce background noise when recording at a public place? (eg at a coffee shop)
@podsoundschool
@podsoundschool 4 жыл бұрын
Good question. So smartphone microphones have become quite impressive, but they are built for speech recognition and speaker phone. So really even when you're close to the mics they'll still pick up quite a bit of background noise. there are a couple of smartphone microphones for purchase that are MUCH better at reducing the background noise: The first I'd recommend is the iRig Mic Cast ($20) amzn.to/31mXlG7 or The Shure MV88 ($150) amzn.to/2UgXRUu Thanks for watching!
