Just like April said, we have Leslie to thank for Ron's adventures (and everyone else's)
Parks and Recreation is streaming now on Peacock: pck.tv/3XjpSJy
Season 6, Episode 6, "London Part 2": Leslie (Amy Poehler) wins an award from an international Women in Government organization, and travels to London with Ben (Adam Scott), Andy (Chris Pratt), April (Aubrey Plaza) and Ron (Nick Offerman) to accept it. Tom (Aziz Ansari) hunts down the mysterious businessman who is trying to put Rent-a-Swag out of business, while Ann (Rashida Jones) and Chris (Rob Lowe) settle into the next phase of their relationship, Jim O’Heir and Retta also star.

I wouldn't be surprised if she carefully wrote it so that Ron couldn't cheat by reading the end. All the instructions were probably designed so that he could follow them, but not interpret them until he was there. Of course, this is all fiction, but damn, what a glorious reward after getting to know these characters for all those seasons. Plus Nick Offerman got to enjoy some Lagavulin straight from the source! XD

As hilarious as Parks and Recs was, it always had the added bonus of giving the viewer moments like this. Where we get to witness acts of true friendships and the thoughtful acts that can only occur when someone knows the others soul and wants to show them their sincere love and appreciation. What a way to get you invested in a program. I still miss this show, TREMENDOUSLY!

Absolutely, it's the reason I rank the show higher than The Office. The Office is probably funnier on a laughs per minute basis, but thats only because as P&R goes on it spends time crafting really deep and endearing character moments like this.

I love how Ron hates Europe, doesn't want to spend any additional time there, and just wants to go home. But, he cares about, loves, and respects Leslie enough that he goes on this journey that she sends him on, just because he trusts her. Ron is a truly loyal friend.

Swanson is such a weirdo hypocrite. Somebody who supposedly hates government, but has government to thank for the richness & opportunities in their life. A fervent Ameritard, who has the greatest affinity for things beyond America. A man unwilling to discuss or even acknowledge his family, but who is driven by his personal relationships and even goes so far as to start a business with his brothers. Somebody who supposedly despises poetry & the written word, but who speaks poetically and clearly views the world with the same kind of romanticism. A highly effective dissection of libertarianism and it’s infinite stupidity.

@Captroop

I think it's not a case of "writers including," as it was a case of "actors insisting." A bunch of struggling, overworked 20-somethings in a writers room probably don't feel a need to do a favor for the well-paid star of their show. More likely Nick Offerman just went to the showrunner and said "write a scene where I go to the Lagavulin distillery."

After literally going broke inside the team store, I had the same feeling Ron did at the distillery at Lagavulin. It’s one thing to buy a bottle at a liquor store, or a Yankees shirt at a store at the mall; but when you’re able to buy something from the source, that makes it that much more sentiment.

I often ponder how much Lagavulin has enjoyed the publicity from this awesome show.

This whole character interest they set up for ron was introduced and expanded on when Nick Offerman & the show creator discovered they both irl have a love for Lagavulin

It’s so weird seeing Ron at Kings Cross and being like “I have not only stood there, but I have looked at that exact sign to get home” Also, does he go to the Orkney Islands? Because I feel like I’ve been to those islands too.

It's Glasgow Central not Kings Cross....Hence the big sign at the top saying "Glasgow"

Outer Hebrides. I'm a little confused how he got there though. It looked like he took the Gourick train, but then was on the West Highland line, which goes sort of in the right direction, but there's a lot of buses and ferries to get there.
