The woman in the flowery dress did not love the singer. Her job was to seduce him, to have him alone in her mansion so the men could kill him. It is nothing new that poets, musicians, writers get killed for the art they practise, if that art goes against popular beliefs. The woman showed no real grief when he was murdered- only remorse and guilt for betraying someone who loved and trusted her. She did not even warn him when she saw them coming : She was actually waiting for them. It is clear that she was part of the plot to take him down. Her protest was a last-minute realization of acknowleding the wrong she had done. Remorse followed her. She never opened that hall in the mansion again, until a follower of the singer came to pay homage. She ripped open that part of her past that she so cautiously hid. She was relieved to notice that the art they once tried to kill still lives on through the younger ones.

The woman wanted the man's money, not his love. She was the one who hired those men to kill him. She found out many years later that the man had a child with someone else. The girl with the golden hair is their granddaughter who inherited his talent for music. She reached out for her roots when she got older. After decades of locking everything in- the lady finally opened up and let the girl pay homage to her ancestor. Despite taking his life and living with its guilt: the stone-cold lady was relieved to know that his legacy will carry on.

Apart from having such a beautiful quality to it, i'd like to point out how wonderfully expressive this voice is and the variety of colours and nuances it's got in every single song. it really conveys the different words' meaning in every phrase.... and in my humble opinion it is the reason why it connects so much with the listener's soul. Of course, not only the singer, but all the musicians in the band are doing this, creating together such a magical atmosphere in every single track. True musical poetry! I hope they continue to mesmerize us with their art for a long time still to come, because music like this is food for the spirit.

Heartbreaking yet so beautiful. As soon as I saw the men I had to pause for a minute, my heart started to race. The way the elderly woman could barely enter the room and stopped in the doorway, and the way she leaned on the piano and put her arm across it as if maybe, he was there, that really got to me. They picked a perfect actress for that, she had me feeling her pain. As sad as this is and I can even say, hard to watch at one part, I can't stop, it's another masterpiece, you guys.

The young blonde girl in the video happens to play the same melody as the song that Marko (the singer) plays for the piano teacher in her youth and that triggers her memory of a tragic, yet nostalgic, memory of a love that was not allowed to play out as it was supposed to. At least that's how I think of it :)

I don't think I've ever been this early to a Poets of the Fall music video. Needless to say, this was absolutely beautiful - the atmosphere of the song and video went marvelously together. Regardless of what genre of music one likes, you cannot deny that PotF have brilliant lyrics. And whenever there's a music video to go with their songs, it gives it just an added layer of depth - something we don't see nearly enough of these days.

You got me at the first notes accompanying the beautiful aerial scenery to zoom in, to the manor.The decor was set beautifully and pulled me in this romantic scene that felt almost out of time. The feelings are so warm, and the happiness so gentle and simple... when I saw them coming, I shook my head in denial... but I knew, just like they did, what was to come... and my hands on my mouth, my eyes wide open in disbelief, I watched... helpless... The greater the hurt, the greater the love standing the test of time... They refuse to compromise in their control, which I respect. So many groups gain a following when they do their own thing, and then they change when a label or producer starts to push other artists work on them. This isn't always a bad thing, as Johnny Cash proved with "Hurt", but I understand why they are so tight in their control. To change the sound of POTF in any way will cause untold tragedy. Nations will rise and fall, wars will flare up and be lost, and somewhere a five year old's ice cream cone with two scoops will hit the ground moments after it is handed to her. I wish they were huge, that the entire world could see the light in their music en masse. Alas, it probably means more to everyone, increases its value many times over, if it is a slow build.... One person at a time who falls in love with them. Not a shooting star, but an ever-increasing brightness of a flame.

@@torpmorp1324 Marko isn't half Irish, he's 100% Finnish. Both his parents are Finnish, but his mom did spend time in the UK and went to school in the UK (possibly in Ireland, but I don't think that's ever been said specifically). Also, I'm not sure where the golfing info comes from, but to my knowledge that's not accurate at all. He did live in Florida for a while as an exchange student, but I've never seen or heard him mention anything about golf at all. He was actually a graphic designer for over seven years before he and Olli started the band in 2003.

The way I interpret the video is that Marko and the woman in the flowery dress were in love, but perhaps it was forbidden? She could have been married, or bethroted to someone else. Their love had consequences, and the other man found out. Betraying her love was the only way to protect the child, but it broke her completely. Several years later, her granddaughter wants to know more, and the now old woman is revisiting the sweetest and most terrible time of her life. I base this off of how they’re always seen inside, and how she sees the men approaching the house. A tear runs down her face as she sees them, but she makes no attempt at telling her love about it. He’s startled as the intruders barge in, and they fight as they’re separated. There are some striking similarities between the two women have been styled (look at the clothes and the hairstyles between the young lover and the blonde). The blonde seems to be playing the same melody as Marko did, and it is a possibility of people inheriting gifts from grandparents. So that’s my interpretation, depressing as it may be

I guess, it was not a real murder necessarily. I feel that the old lady let her daughter see the memories and soul. Even rather, the daughter try to reconstruct the whole story of her mother's life, soul, feelings, from pieces. They are really similar but the moves of the old lady are slow and faded somehow. After the daughter played the same melody, they saw each other.

I have a theory, this music video takes place before the events of "Dreaming Wide Awake" (memories) and then before the events of "Cradled in Love" (The piano and the girl having a Hopecatcher) and this shows ties to "Locking Up the Sun" (A quote being "Is there a hero to turn back time". I think the music is referring to him losing the love of his life and wanting there to be a hero to turn back time and save her.) The reason why I think happens before "Dreaming Wide Awake" is because the theme of the video shows a man looking through papers and trying to find her or why it happened. In "Cradled in Love" I think one of the women return (to the house) and puts on the Hopecatcher and remembers him. Then in "Locking Up the Sun" it shows two of him in a room of crowded people with dunce caps on. I believe this is him calling himself (possibly others) stupid because they can't find her, but then at the end he is by himself saying he is to blame for the kidnapping. I think she was kidnapped because of the Twilight Theater, the people who come are dressed in odd clothes which I think means they are actors. Sorry if I confused you.

Love for Romantic Tragedy is very clear to see/hear so as long as they don't explain in detail then we have enough hints but not to many that anyones imagination can mold them however they like and Poets of the Fall can be proud they wrote The Best Romantic Tragedy Ever in the eyes of each person. If all were to go as a whole (Novel at this point)...Humm. First, would have to take out woman/man dies or leaves, think of each videos as one love lost their love, because in Dreaming Wide Awake, Lift, Carnival of Rust and Late Goodbye woman gone guy going crazy, Cradled in Love and now this video it's man gone woman reliving memories. Daze I think would be after love lost doesn't matter death, brake up, betrayal, to cope with/numb out the madness of the mind one wraps themself into all the "sinful" pleasures of life drugs, alcohol and lust for all, towards end one is trying to get away from all that but it's hard fire catches up. Choice Millionaire the spark of hope the point one chooses to continue down the road of self destruction or except help and fight their way out.... But then agian since the theme of videos is woman is gone guy locked in depression and the others is man gone woman reliving memories and feeling his spirt is still lingering, (Maybe even why both this video and CiL doesn't have the rest of the band in them) then maybe it's two people's stories that by the end find and understand each other's pain tyeingin Love will come to You "... those marks are signs of something true" ... This was FUN mostlikely totally wrong but that's the best thing about Art😆 All the Maybes!
