At 1:35 he holds a record by Bruno Spoerri. Timbaland produced a track called versus for Jay z and it actually has in it a sample used without without permission from this exact LP shown here. The Jay z track is called "versus" and he used a sample from a Bruno Spoerri track called "On The Way".Jay z agreed to split royalties with Spoerri.

as i recall, spoerri sued jay z and got left with something round 10`000$. wouldnt really call that agreeing on splitting royalities :)

Awesome video! No hidden knowledge, but very straightforward and practical suggestions...30 minutes of actual content, not the usual "blah....*click*...blah....*click*..." that goes on for 30 minutes and that you just wish you hadn't watched.

Very inspiring vid. I have been loving this channel since I discovered it six months ago. This particular episode is fantastic. You guys have come onto something here, and I would love to see this challenge put to some more of your instructors to see what they would do as well. Never the less, great job Ski! I believe I just might get myself a turntable tomorrow...Cheers.

+azfiu if your looking for a good way to sample. Try ableton live paired with an MPD. an mpd 18 is 100$ and it works great. as far as the software goes you can buy it or torrent it ether way happy beat making.

+azfiu ableton is way more flexible than machine i have both machine and ableton so from my experience i say ableton is overall better than machine except machine has a sick library of sounds but if you combine them both its a sick set up and you can do so much more

You probably already know this but @24:59 - instead of having to put 4 new points in on the envelope and dragging the middle section down, you can just highlight a section and drag the envelope up or down and it will automatically do that for you. It's basically what's happening a little earlier too at 24:56 because you have the whole clip highlighted and so clicking and dragging will move the whole envelope. Drove me mad for a while trying to figure out why sometimes I was dragging points, and other times the whole thing would move :)

The classical composer Manuel de Falla has his surname pronounced like 'Fire'. He wrote great pieces. Ski manipulates some awesome tracks - so inspirational! Thank you for showing us the methods. What about the royalties though - don't you have to keep a tally of the artists and apply to their record companies for permission to use them or is that only if you intend to release the tracks commercially..(though this is public broadcasting..)
